Welcome back! It's now been 6 weeks since baby Marty joined us so let's have our final postpartum visit with Maureen and Heather.
Most of you will also be having your final OB visit around this time and then... you're on your own. But we know that 6 weeks is nowhere near enough time to heal from having an entire human exit your body! So today Heather gets real about her postpartum body and Maureen educates us on how long postpartum healing really takes. And we'll continue to be here for you through the entire fourth trimester!

If this is your first time listening, here’s a recap. Beyond the Boob is a spin-off from the Milk Minute Podcast where Heather and Maureen go on a pregnancy journey together to birth our newest podcast baby! Nine months ago Heather surprised Maureen by announcing her pregnancy on the Milk Minute and asking Maureen to be her (homebirth) midwife. Since then its been a wild ride of TMI, prenatal education, and so much more. Today we bring you a very anticipated episode where we document the last prenatal and birth of the baby! While this isn’t the full birth story, we kept a mic set up for updates during labor and kept a little captains log just for you. Enjoy some birth deets and raw emotions and get excited for the full story next week!!

  • Welcome to week 30 of Beyond the Boob! At 30 weeks it might feel like you're running out of time but at the same time like you're going to be pregnant forever. Life is a mess. The anxiety and stress of wanting to organize, nest, and get everything done before baby comes can be overwhelming. Thankfully, Maureen reminds us what we actually need to have a baby, and it's a whole lot less than you might think.

Today we share a growth update on Heather's baby and Maureen reviews what to expect as far as provider care in the end of pregnancy. Heather's feeling all of the things, both physically and emotionally. We discuss parenthood and its stresses vs eases and touch on the topic of working moms vs SAHMs. All mothers are different, in fact, you become a new mother every time you have a baby. Who will Heather be with 3 kids? Only time will tell.

Starting off with some silly stories about the older kids, this episode goes through all kinds of important things so make sure you listen through til the end! Heather met with her nutritionist finally and is feeling confident moving forward with some dietary changes. We're hoping she can get more consistent energy in this last part of pregnancy. Heather also had her first big cry in a long, long time and realized she and her husband need to do some emotional work before labor starts, so if you're in that spot too don't panic! You still have time to get to a more comfortable place with your partner too. Maureen and Heather also have some laughs about silly birth stories and chat a bit about preparing for labor.
