Our guests have been fed, watered and nourished. Good food and great conversation went hand in hand. As per usual, Sabrina’s dinner guests hadn’t met previously, but the chemistry was obvious, and they clicked in a special way. To close their BRKIN Bread experience, Alicia, Anu, Chris, Jo and Larry reflected on the food, the conversation and most importantly, the mutual exchange. Who left with new perspectives, and who stood their ground? Find out in the last episode of BRKIN Bread Season 1.

In the final episode of BRKIN Bread Season 1, Host Sabrina Clarke steps in the arena with some super scotch bonnet level conversation. Before the guests could even put their spoons in their apple pies, she poses the question of King Charles paying reparations.
How much does 400 years of violations and decades of colonialism actually cost? As expected, the discourse strikes vital nerves, all guests don’t agree and all sides offer up a lot of food for thought. Historical injustices, systemic racism, The British Empire and King Leopold are firmly in the crosshairs as guests discuss “cutting the head off the hydra”. BRKIN Bread comes to an epic crescendo as we end Season 1.

The conversation continues and there’s more spice added to the mix. Host Sabrina Clarke is once again joined by Alicia, Any, Chris, Jo and Larry to discuss how values intersect and collide on personal and professional levels. Could you work for someone who didn’t share the same values as you? Can values evolve and change? It’s all up for discussion. The table also tackles if it's enough to be informed, or you should be an expert when tackling certain topics, and if you should put your money where your mouth is.

Fresh off winning at the London Independent Podcast Awards, Host Sabrina Clarke returns with new guests, amazing food and spicy conversations. There is no other way. Sabrina and her guests settle some Christmas debates and politic over politics.
The Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel, Palestine or Sudan, new table guests Alicia, Anu, Chris, Jo and Larry, discuss if leaders should make political statements. If so, should they get fired and get all the smoke that comes from the public? Hot takes and cold facts abound when the table discusses free speech, values in business, at work and a host of other topics that you wouldn’t dare talk about in the office.

For the final episode of Sabrina’s specially curated table of Black women, the conversation edges even more closer to home. Like right on the doorstep and in the house with its shoes off. If you let social media tell the story; Black Women hate Black Men and vice versa. On paper, Black Women and Black Men cannot stand each other. But what’s really happening out here in the streets and, in some cases, between the sheets? The list of topics is long, and our guests flex their life experiences with the realness covering topics like respect for Black men, respect for Black women, leadership in the Black community, gender roles and more. Whether you are blue pill crew or red pill gang, this is the kind of discourse you won’t here ANYWHERE ELSE.

The great assembly of Black women continues! Once again, Host Sabrina Clarke and her specially invited dinner gather around the table to stop, chop and open up shop. The topic of the day is feminism. Not in the buzzword way but in this conversation, the guests discuss what feminism means to Black women with all its nuance, complexities and allure. The subject matter gets really deep when the issue of white women co-opting feminism to serve them and their needs is raised. If women were to run the world, would Black women be invited to the party? Where does that leave the Black men?

The art of conversation is turning into a beautiful picture. This BRKIN Bread table is special. Host Sabrina Clarke has expertly assembled a second specially curated table of fantastic Black women.
As expected, the guests dive into some thought-provoking conversations about Black women stereotypes, cultural heritage, community and cliques and how all these elements play out in the real world. As Black women do on the regular, they unpack these challenging conversations with insight and discourse.
Special shout out to Tisha Campbell the actress who played Gina Waters on Martin, and Tichina Arnold, who played her best friend Pam.

As we wrap up our latest table, Sabrina keeps the hosting levels high and checks in to see how the dinner guests enjoyed their food and conversation. The overwhelming positive feedback proves that we can disagree without being disagreeable. For Elizabeth, she felt that the conversations stretched her mind. We love a bit of mental cardio over here. Keith said it was refreshing to hear different viewpoints while Laura appreciated the free-flowng conversation away from the corporate world of scripts and bullet points. Lastly, Reetu called the food for thought and the stomach “a perfect combination”.

"The f****** grifters. That's the podcast we shoulda launched with them." - Bill Simmons
During his self-titled podcast, Bill Simmons, Founder of The Ringer and Head of Spotify’s global sports strategy, threw all the tea – hypothetically speaking – at the feet of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. The comment came after reports that Harry and Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, will not be renewed for a second season in what has been described as a mutual decision by both parties to cut ties. The Sussexes first joined forces with Spotify in 2020 after they landed a $20 million deal with the company.
Soon, after Simmon’s comments heated up the newswire, some people punched the air in agreement, and others called foul play on the court of professionalism. Sabrina, and her dinner guests, all of whom are podcast consumers, weigh in and share their views on this business relationship gone sour. The conversations tackle challenging ideas around the differences between a value exchange and a commercial agreement, publicity stunts and whether or not the relationship between Harry and Meghan is the product and NOT the podcast. Deep.
In typical BRKIN Bread fashion, many other meaty subjects are chewed on, and our guests delve into the dynamics of Harry and Meghan’s relationship as they walk the balance between tradition and non-traditional approaches like holding hands in public. Seems simple, but the Royal Family doesn’t play that. The fat is not trimmed. In fact, it’s grilled to perfection as Sabrina and her guests explore if and how tradition dictates gender roles. Is it because of tradition that men are expected to take out the bins while women are expected to play the good W.I.F.E., as in wash, iron, fold clothes etc.? Our guests plant seeds in the fertile land of commitment and compromise.

The debate continues... Host Sabrina Clarke is once again joined by Elizabeth, Laura, Keith and Reetu to bring back the art of conversation, and the group picks up right where they left off.
Sabrina and her dinner guests dive even deeper into the Huw Edwards and Glodi Wabelua debate and further unpack the major sticking points around where, when, and how racism, privilege and class show up, particularly in the justice system. Keith enters the centre when he bravely suggests that the issues facing the two people in question – and society at large – are less about the colour of their skin and more about class. Kwasi Boateng and Suella Braverman are namechecked as examples of people of colour who have risen high up in the political hierarchy, and the table has a spicy matrix-style response to that assertion.
To close, some important themes come out in the conversations around the story of Glodi Wabelua and true to BRKIN Bread style; we will leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.

For our next three episodes, Host Sabrina Clarke welcomes four new dinner guests to the BRKIN Bread table. Our host is joined by Elizabeth, Laura, Keith and Reetu. The conversation cuts to the bone of society’s pressing issues before the guests are asked about who they would like to invite for dinner. In a BRKIN Bread first, one of our guests mentions a woman! Who? We won’t spoil the answer here.
Sabrina then opens up the discussion by revisiting the recent news scandal, where The Sun reported that a well-known BBC presenter, now revealed to be Huw Edwards, had allegedly paid a teenager "more than £35,000 in return for sordid images" based on allegations by their mother and stepfather. Shortly before Edwards was named, the Metropolitan Police reported that it had found no evidence of a crime and would not investigate further. Sabrina then shares the story of Glodi Wabelua, who was jailed in 2019, with two other men, for a drug trafficking case where they used youth as drug mules. It was a landmark case of modern slavery. Glodi, who himself was groomed, was sentenced to three and a half years. He serves some of the sentence and is released. Upon release, he changes his life by starting his own fitness company and turning away from a life of crime. However, Glodi is asked to return to prison as the result of a clerical error, even though he has been free for 13 months.
Still with us? Good. The table is then asked to share their thoughts about who out of Huw Edwards and Glodi Wabelua should go to jail. There’s so much nuance here; the debate is tougher than a cheap steak. The discussion bravely traverses themes of justice and punishment and who has the right to decide on these matters. We get deeper than Atlantis and further explore the overlapping context around racism, privilege, the establishment and much more. Who gets to dodge the gavel and continue their travels, and WHY?You can expect our guests to cut out all the legalese and make it plain as they share their thoughts – all of which could probably find their way into both a court of law and the court of public opinion.

We are back from our summer hiatus!
Before we kick off with our brand new episodes of meaty debates, we want to introduce our dinner guests! Ready to chop for the next three episodes are Elizabeth, Laura, Keith and Reetu. As we proceed to give you what you need, remember we don’t tell the guests what to expect. Sabrina warms up with a bit of banter and asks the guests what they think is about to go down. There’s a mix of intrigue, apprehension and speculation over the menu. All our guests were excited to come to the table and have some spicy conversation.

As we wrap up our # HipHop50-themed table, Chris, Kevin and Wardah share their thoughts about the discussion topics that resonated most with them. For Chris and Wardah, the conversation around women being overlooked in the culture weighed heavy. Kevin left with an appreciation for open dialogue and active listening. Before our guests say peace, Host Sabrina Clarke asked them to share some of their Hip Hop album recommendations. As expected, die-hard heads and curious listeners can appreciate every album mentioned. Thank you for listening to BRKIN Bread, and happy 50th birthday to Hip Hop... and you don't stop.

To close out our celebration of #HipHop50, Sabrina and her dinner guests recall the glory days of Westside Connection and bow down to the greatness of women in Hip Hop. The conversation hits harder than brass knuckles in a pub fight. The table discusses the visibility of women in Hip Hop, how the mainstream music industry promotes women, the value of the cosign and more.
Many names are checked, including Queen Latifah, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Rapsody, Jean Grae and Rah Digga. The knockout blow is when the guests tackle the gender pay gap and how little the work of women is valued and compensated despite the high level of excellence they display on a daily basis. To finish up, the room gets sentimental and teary-eyed when they share why they love Hip Hop.
