For not having any brains, the scarecrow sure knows a thing or two about life! Tonight let's continue with our story.

I wanted to give you some peaceful piano music to fall asleep to. I paid to use this royalty-free track created by Turpak (https://audiojungle.net/user/turpak).

I was obsessed with haiku poetry in high school. I also wrote a lot of short stories. I knew I had a box in the bottom of my closet with everything I had written in the first 20 years of my life, and when I went digging, I found it! I'm taking a break from The Wizard Of Oz to read you some of the poems and verses I wrote in 1998, my last year of high school. From the sounds of it, it was also a reflective and emotional year, but I can hear myself in these words just the same. I hope you enjoy them. (And let me know what you think of the "meditative piano" background music!)

Dorothy starts her long journey to The City Of Emeralds, and guess who she meets!? A scarecrow! I won't tell you anything else because it would ruin the surprise! Enjoy, and goodnight!
-
We're on to chapter 2 this week, as Dorothy lands in the Land of the Munchkins and meets the good witch!
-
Tonight we start the reading of Frank L. Baum's The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz. Dorothy gets caught in a cyclone in chapter 1, and I don't sing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for you... unfortunately.

Need a short bedtime story tonight? Let me read you 3 Robert Frost poems: Bond and Free, The Road Not Taken, and The Need of Being Versed in Country Things. If you can get past my basic editing skills and limited poetry reading talents, you'll relax in no time!

Fall asleep to the story of Mabel, who wears a yellow dress to a party, and tortures herself over it for the rest of the night. It's not an exciting story, but Virginia Woolf is lovely, and this is the perfect story to relax you, and remind you that very few people actually look good in yellow. Listen before bed, or in bed.

This is weird for me, but the most common comments I receive on my CALM+COZY Insomnia Podcast are, "Your voice is so calming," "You should record your own meditations" and "I could fall asleep to the sound of your voice." So, I'm doing this for you, my wonderful sleepy tribe! Grown-Up Bedtime Stories is a collection of poetry, short stories, and whatever else we can conjure up to help you relax in the evening. Listen at night, during your peaceful evening ritual, or in bed. This episode is a handful of poems by Oscar Wilde: Magdalen Walks, The Grave of Shelley, By the Arno, and Apologia (I pronounced it wrong, oops!) Goodnight!
