Today’s mailbag bring us messages about a running club set up in memory of a much loved brother, what we do when listening to the pod, more comments from a weed smoker, more funny names, a couple of horrible bosses, a children’s skateboarding book and a prolific adolescent house-snooper.

David’s taken a liking to a man he’s recently met. So, as well as telling us all about that, he wants to know from Joe who the newest person in his life is that he likes. It turns out to be such an interesting question that they might even make it a new section for the pod. Also, there’s some chat about Henfield and Ditchling, news on the lady who might have fancied Joe, bumping into Scroobius Pip, removing a hedge and ramping it up for the pod.

Picking up from yesterday’s show about the potential pitfalls of meeting your heroes, there’s more chat about The Cure, Joe recounts the time Roachford came on the pod and he explains just how much Glen Hoddle meant to him in his youth. Plus, the two of them dissect how embarrassingly they dealt with Pete Waterman coming on the show and David reads out a listener’s email about the time she met Robert Smith.

Apologies in advance as today’s episode kicks off with a lot of gossiping from David and Joe. But as they can’t reveal what it’s actually about, things soon get pretty confusing. After that, David wants to talk about the upcoming Cure concert he’s going to and how he’d cope if he ever met Robert Smith in person. It turns out both him a Joe have pretty big fears about meeting their heroes and how badly they’d handle it. With so much worrying to do, they decide to turn the episode into a double bubble - so they’ll be more on that tomorrow.

Mailbag time! And in today’s show, we read messages about a very cool classmate, condiment dilutions, a long-running wrong name, Crowborough recollections, a home-made VHS film library, top 5 songs and have a deep-dive into old cigarette brands.

David’s recently bought a secondhand Cluedo board game, which soon after gave him his very own One In A Million moment. So he tells Joe about that and they then take a look at some more miraculous OIAM tales sent in from listeners. There’s stories about a Hong Kong reunion, a lottery near-miss, a load of old nonsense in Snowdonia and a surprise Happy Mondays encounter. Plus, David reads out a very thorough review of the pod from a new listener.

It’s the third and final show of our Triple Bubble extravaganza. And in this one, David and Joe read out some of the emails sent to us following their recent ‘sinister farm’ investigations.

It’s show two of our Triple Bubble episode. And this time the conversation topics include where else David’s considered re-locating to, Joe’s Rightmove search history, more conversation ideas, Where’s Neil Now, how people deal with colds, recording 850 episodes and a random pod title (with durations) run-down. Then Joe remembers about some emails we’re received following the farm investigation - so that’s the topic for the third and final show sorted.

On today’s show from the archives, Joe’s been on the Thames and David’s been on the River Dart. Then David gives us news about the beach bomber and they talk about a man in Brighton who makes bird noises.

That’s right, it’s a first for the pod as David and Joe have recorded a Triple Bubble episode! And to kick things off, the first show is all about the five conversation ideas that they brought along to talk about. Namely - understanding pensions, David’s chocolaty voice, an old man staring through a window, Joe’s new section suggestion and David’s short-lived idea of moving to Antigua.

After a few week’s break from podding due to holidays, illnesses and other diversions, Chatabix is back! And we’re back with a bang - as David has a very dramatic story to tell Joe about being attacked on a train recently. So buckle up and settle back as David explains all.

Amongst the very varied topics on today’s show, David and Joe discuss Cameo clips and whether Chatabix should do them, speedy interactions with fans, The new Micheal Jackson film, Joe’s short-lived love of breakdancing, childhood games with siblings, singing songs on the pod and learning more about The Grateful Dead.

First up, there’s some chat about young people’s thoughts on podcasts, fears about becoming irrelevant and a concerning side-effect of weight loss - so all business as usual really. But then the conversation turns to some recent comments that David made about the band Dodgy - and the wheels rapidly start to come off the Chatabus. Needless to say - we love you Dodgy, it was just a bit of ‘ramping it up for the pod’.

On today’s show, David plays Joe some recordings he made whilst passing by one of the houses he used to garden for in Handcross, West Sussex. So there’s plenty of reminiscing about all that. Then the chat turns to the slightly embarrassing perks of being an actor on a film set. Well, embarrassing for David and Joe at least, as the simple act of being offered cup of tea seems to make them feel very uncomfortable indeed.

In this old show, we chatted to actor Tony Way (After Life, Extras, Game of Thrones) about getting out of auditions, the stress of buying houses, putting on an Essex accent and being manly when the builders are round.

Time to wrap up the week with another look into our mailbag. There’s an Our Little Systems from Australia, some revelations from a golf course greenkeeper, a few quips and jokes, a couple with a funny name, a bed shop turf war and two great stories about encounters with Sting.

Joe’s been to see the circus at the Brighton Fringe - and whilst watching the show had a bit of a revelation. Meanwhile, David went with his sister to the Fawlty Towers Dining Experience in London. So as you can imagine, they spend most of the episode catching up on those very two things. It’s showtime!!
