This is an all-time classic story of three little pigs and a big bad wolf. The three pigs each made their houses - one of straw, one of sticks, and the last one of bricks. But the big bad wolf came over to them and blew away the houses of straw and sticks with his huff and puff.
But the wolf was unable to blow away the house made of bricks. Frustrated, he tried to enter the house by the chimney and had to pay a big price for his misadventures.

Once there lived a baron, who was great at foretelling the future. When he had a son, he checked his fortune and found out that he was destined to marry a very poor girl.
He traced this to-be pride and bought the girl child from the poor parents who were already saddled with 5 kids. He threw the girl in the river but the girl was saved by a fisherman couple. She grew up there into a very beautiful maiden.
When she was 15, the baron came about their place with his friends seeking some water. Drawing her fortune, the baron realized this is the same girl who he had tried to kill. He gave a closed letter and asked the girl to take it to his brother far away. The message was to kill the bearer.
On the way, the inn she was staying in was raided by some thieves who found out about the letter. The chief of the thieves replaced the letter and asked the bearer to be married to the baron's son. And so it was done.
But was this enough to change fate? Will the baron give up?

Once upon a time, there was a kind-hearted girl. Since her father had no work, she thought of helping the family and went out looking for work. On her journey, she first helped a bread out of an oven after 7 years. Then she helped a cow who has not been milked for 7 years. Finally, she helped an apple tree that was burdened with fruits for the last 7 years.
Finally, the girl reached a house of an old woman who hired her as a house help. She was asked not to look up the chimney by the woman. But even after all the work girl did, the old women didn't pay her and the girl continued to work in the hope that one day she will be paid.
One day, the girl looked up the chimney and found a bag full of gold. She left back for her home and the apple tree, the cow and the oven helped her escape from the hand of the old woman.

Once upon a time, there was a farmer and his wife, who had only one child. A young boy who had returned home from his travels pursued her. Every evening, he'd stop at the farmhouse for supper, and the daughter would go down into the basement to get the apple juice for supper. One day, when she looked up at the ceiling, she noticed a large wooden hammer stuck in one of the beams.
Then she imagined what would happen if her future son came down one day and the hammer fell on his head, killing him. With that thought, she began to cry. One by one, the mother and father came down to see what she was doing. Even they couldn't hold back their tears when they learned about all this. Now that the young boy upstairs had had enough, he went down into the basement to see what they were all after. They all told him about the horrifying possibilities of his future son dying because of a hammer. The young boy burst out laughing at this. He then reached up and took the old hammer from the shelf, placing it safely on the floor. He went on to say that he traveled a lot but had never met anyone as silly as the three of them.

Once upon a time, a boy named Jack lived with his mother who got her living by spinning. But Jack was very lazy and did nothing, so people called him Lazy Jack.
Finally, Jack got some work for a day on a farm but he lost his earnings of a penny on the way. His mother suggested he keep his earnings in his pocket for next time.
The next day Jack hired himself to a cow keeper, who gave him a jar of milk for his day's work. Jack put the jar in his pocket, spilling it all before he got home. The mother then suggested carrying it on his head.Jack continued to hire himself, squandering all of his earnings until one day he received a donkey and was carrying it back home on his shoulders. He walked past a mansion where a wealthy man lived with his deaf and dumb daughter. She had never laughed before, and the doctors predicted that she would not speak until she was made to laugh. As a result, her father had declared that any man who could make her laugh would be given her hand in marriage. When the lady looked out the window, she noticed Jack with the donkey on his shoulders, and the sight was so amusing that she burst out laughing, regaining her speech and hearing almost immediately.
Her father was overjoyed and fulfilled his promise by marrying her to Lazy Jack, who was thus made a rich gentleman. They lived in a large house, and Jack's mother lived with them in great happiness.

A great ruler had a granddaughter, but he never took care of her. She was neglected as a child, and her torn clothing earned her the nickname "Tattercoats." She spent her days out in the fields, accompanied by a gooseherd.
Once, her grandfather was invited to a royal ball, but he refused to bring Tattercoats. But eventually, she arrived at the ball with the gooseherd. On the way, they met a young man who turned out to be the prince. He accompanied them on their walk and proposed to Tattercoats. He asked her at the ball and invited her to dance with him.
Everyone looked as she walked in with her gooseherd. The prince stood and informed his father that he desired to marry Tattercoats. All of Tattercoats' attire was changed into gleaming robes when the gooseherd played on his pipe. The prince married her after everyone approved and the gooseherd disappeared without a trace.

Once upon a time a woman baked five pies and asked her daughter to keep it aside as they would come again. The peasant girl thought that the pies would come up again magically, so she ate them all. At dinner when the mother had nothing to eat, she took to spinning at the door singing songs about how stupid her girl was.
A king who was passing nearby, heard the voice and came to her place. The old lady changed the words to say she was singing about how well her daughter can spin. The impressed king took the village girl as his wife on the condition that after one year of marriage, the girl will have to spin five skins of flax per day for a month, as her mother boasted she could.
However, the girl had no idea how to spin and never learned either. But when the time came to spin, she was put in an isolated room to start spinning. There she met a small little black thing with a long tail that performed the spinning chore for her on a condition that she guesses his name correctly. She will get 3 chances each day for the entire month to do so. Every day she would guess different names until one day, he was overheard boasting by the king himself, 'Name me, Name me not, Who'll guess my name's Tom Tit Tot'. The king that night accidentally mentioned it to his queen, the poor girl, allowing her to properly guess the name and the thing vanished in the air, never to bother her again.

A short story with moral for kids authored by Abbie Phillips Walker.
Lazy Gray was the youngest in his family. His mother thought he was the prettiest and hence did not ask him to do errands or to climb trees or carry out any other tasks that most squirrels have to do. So, Lazy Gray took advantage of the kindness of his family. He used to ask them to wait on him. When lazy got thirsty and wanted to drink water, He would call his mother or make his brothers go on long journeys through the woods to get a particular kind of nuts. Before the fall, his mother asked him to collect enough nuts for himself to survive but he did not pay any attention and would go to sleep again. Even before the mid-winter, all his store was exhausted and he had nothing left to eat. Then he asked his mother to let him have some of the nuts that she had gathered, but she still had to keep some for his sick brothers. At a point, she denied giving him any more nuts. So, he decided to beg nuts from the other squirrels. Soon the squirrels started hating him for his behavior.

This English mermaid story for kids was written by Abbie Phillips Walker.
Little Hilda was a sailor's daughter and lived in a little cottage near the shore. Her father used to go on long voyages. She used to spin and knit while her father was away. She was very fond of water so she would often go fishing or stare at the blue depths of the ocean to try to see a mermaid. She was always very anxious to see one as her father has told her many stories about mermaids, how they sang and combed their beautiful long hair. One night she actually had a mermaid at her place but she had wounds all over her body.
The mermaid explained how she got there and looked very worried. Hilda offered her supper and they started to have a pleasant conversation with each other. She cried about her miseries and troubles to Hilda. But curious Hilda had her list of mermaid questions ready. The next morning when Hilda woke up, she could not find the mermaid anywhere but found pieces of seaweed on the floor.

An English Story for kids written by Abbie Phillips Walker.
A very kind gentleman once lived in a huge house which was in the midst of a stunning park. He had a lovely cat. Pussy was very clever and his master knew very vividly that she would harm the birds in the garden. So he put an enormous ribbon around Pussy’s neck and tied a little silver bell on that which used to tinkle on every occasion pussy moved and this warned the birds. Pussy however pretended that she did now not care. One day a bird was singing very sweetly on a tree that overhung a small lake.

She said that since she is getting old, it’s difficult for her to hear properly. The bird understood the cat’s evil. Pussy climbed the tree very slowly as she wanted the bird to think that she was old and weak. Pussy when tried to pounce on the bird, it flew away and she fell into the lake.

One bright summer season afternoon, a Mother duck built herself a warm nest and sat on the six eggs she had lately laid. Five of them had been white, but the sixth, which was large than the others was different from the rest and was grey in color. The sixth egg cracked into a brown-colored bird and appeared distinctive from other ducklings. All the neighbors used to call the poor little duck ugly and unpleasant. Everyone stared at him with unpleasant eyes, called him ugly and disgraceful. As he grew older, the complete farm started teasing him which include his personal brothers and sisters. Oday he decided to go away from the farm. One night the grey duckling ran away from the farm and came across a lot of hardships and challenges while living on his own. After the winter he grew taller and had no grey wings left. He had turned into a beautiful white swan with a golden beak.
