  • What does it mean to be mentally fit? Is it like being physically fit in that we are strong, resilient and built for endurance? The answer is yes, and so much more. Mental fitness is used to describe our sense of well-being and is described in terms of how we think, feel and act. So, how do we become more mentally fit? This week, I talk with mental fitness coach, Frida Soerensen, who shares with us the building blocks of mental fitness and positive intelligence and describes how they work and, more importantly, how we can use them to help us have a greater sense of well-being and resilience. Frida describes some powerful concepts and tools that can help each of us live happier lives and expand beyond our perceived limitations. • Do you struggle with trauma? How have you tried to heal? Has it worked? This week, on The Cope and Chill Podcast, we will talk about three alternative approaches to healing trauma. As you may know from your own experience, or from someone you know, not every approach works for everyone. Sometimes, an alternative approach is the best way to go for some people. In this episode, my guest, Embodiment Coach and Hypnotherapist, Stacia Aashna, talks how about she helps her clients work through and heal their traumas through something called “Internal Family Systems” or IFS, hypnotherapy (hypnosis) and somatic experiencing. If you’re unfamiliar with any or all of these approaches and how they can be used to heal trauma, then join us for episodes 14 and 15 of the Cope and Chill Podcast! We’ll talk about what each of these approaches are, how they work and what you can expect from engaging with each experience. Note: this was such a great conversation that I had to break it into two parts. Part two is out July 31, 2023 wherever you listen to podcasts and on Youtube at copeandchill. See you then!

  • Have you ever been so angry with the people you’ve worked with that you wanted to just tell them off? Did you then bottle up those emotions because you knew if you did that it would not only be bad for them and the work environment as a whole but also bad for you! Potentially very very bad for you. What can you do instead? How can you still say what’s on your mind without setting off emotional shock waves and potentially influence the situation for the better? In Episode 12, coming July 11, I speak with Andrew Lang, educator and author of the book Unmasking the Inner Critic: Lessons for Living an Unconstricted Life, where we discuss how our emotions impact and influence others in the organizations in which we work, volunteer and worship and how following a few simple steps to self-regulate and mindfully “read the room” can be the difference between success and failure for ourselves, our teams and, in some cases, our organizations. • Does something traumatic from your past still have a grip on you? Do you feel like your body remembers your pain? Trauma can be hard to shake. It can stay with us and inhabit our bodies. It can show up as chronic pain or tightness in our necks, or chests, stomachs or backs. But how do we shake it? How do we let go of it and move on to a more peaceful existence? In episode 10 of the Cope and Chill Podcast, we will explore an approach to addressing these questions with Coach Brian Johnson. Brian helps people overcome their struggles and achieve their goals by arming them with the right knowledge and accountability that helps them gain the right focus. It’s not about ‘Transformation’, for Brian, transformation can be really daunting. He prefers ‘Simple 1 Degree Shifts’ that anyone, or any business can use immediately to shift focus. He gives them the tools, daily accountability and support they require to help them transition into behaviors that will get them where they desire to be.In this episode, not only will we discuss Brian’s unique approach to helping his clients resolve their past traumas, but we’ll take you through a couple of practices that I will perform on the show, and you can do at home. • Have you ever felt stuck in life? Do you feel like you want so much more, a new relationship, a better job, more meaning in life, but just can’t seem to get there? What’s holding you back? Many of us start overthinking and, when looking at all of the perceived obstacles, we begin doubting ourselves and our desires. And, then we get stuck. In this episode, I talk to Stephanie Cornelisse, who is a self-described “female embodiment mentor”, about how she works with women to identify the root causes of feeling stuck and how she helps them move beyond the overthinking, self-doubt and their inability to move forward. Stephanie describes the connections between our brains, our nervous system and deep-seated emotions and beliefs that were imprinted on us in childhood and how these connections still influence all throughout adulthood if we aren’t aware and don’t actively take steps to rewrite our own “scripts”. This is a powerful and empowering discussion! Please join us for Episode 8 of the Cope and Chill Podcast wherever you can listen to podcasts, on Youtube and at copeandchill.com!

  • Do you feel anxious or uncomfortable when faced with a big decision? Do you feel uncertain about how to move forward with big choices in life? How do you know if you are making the right decision? In this episode, I talk to Gestalt psychotherapist and certified yoga teacher about “How to know if you are making the right decision” by tuning in to the wisdom of the body.

Our body talks to us, we all know this. When we are thirsty, we feel sensations of thirst. When we are hungry, we feel sensations of hunger or may even become “hangry”. Our bodies talk to us, not by using words, but through sensations, feelings and emotions. And, when we tune and listen to what our bodies are telling us, we can tap into an unmatched wisdom that can help us make not just the most basic decisions, like drinking a glass of water when we are thirsty, but also more complex and important decisions like “Should I continue to date this person?” or “Is moving to another state the best decision for me?” Our bodies have information that can help, but how do we tap into that? How do we find out what our bodies are telling us when we are facing a big decision? Tune to the Cope and Chill podcast, episode 8, with Anna Hindell, to find out.
