On the eve of Canada's largest fan-run Anime convention, Nef tells JR about preparations for Anime North, as well as a very special guest that is scheduled to appear during the weekend. Topics also include reaction to the new Toonami Rewind block of old-skool anime titles, and JR's initial thoughts on the anime series "The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting." It's the Extreme Anime Radio Podcast before "The Big Game!" In the show before the "Annual Football Championship," JR and Nef talk about the hot topic of the week: Funimation officially shutting down their streaming in April and migrating everyone to Crunchyroll, and the fallout of the announcement that those that purchased digital titles from Funimation will no longer be able to access them. Happy Birthday Extreme Anime Radio! This show marks the 23rd anniversary of Keiichi.net Radio, which was created by Michael "Keiichi" Morris in 2001. On this podcast NefCanuck recaps his own birthday from last week, and JR recaps his mother's birthday from the same da. Discussions turn to sumo wrestling, top movies in Japan and Liz's new interest in micropig cafes before he and JR break open the Japanese snacks for a fitting taste testing.
