In this personally significant, endometriosis-focused episode, Sami is joined by the incredible Katie Edmonds, nutritional therapist, author, and independent researcher specializing in endometriosis. She is the creator of HealEndo.com, and the author of Heal Endo: An Anti-Inflammatory Approach to Healing From Endometriosis. Katie is well known in the endometriosis community for her passion for sharing knowledge and helping women overcome their symptoms, reach remission and reclaim their lives.
To help us understand endometriosis as a multifactorial systemic inflammatory disease that behaves more like cancer than anything, Katie helps to reframe the concept of endo as “just a period problem.” Focusing on the interconnectedness of infections, autoimmunity, inflammation and nervous system dysregulation, Katie approaches healing from a holistic 360 degree perspective. She has helped countless women find hope and we are so excited to be able to share with you her significant insight and approach to this challenging topic!

Today we’re joined by Dr. Luis Garcia, MD, is a biomagnetism therapist in NYC that Elizabeth personally sees and loves. His history in conventional medicine coupled with a strong passion for alternative healing modalities led him to explore the world of biomagnetism years ago, eventually becoming a leading expert in the field. In today’s episode we dive into a topic with much personal significance for your girls; Lyme Disease. We are lucky to bring you insights from one of the foremost lyme literate doctors and herbalists, Dr. Bill Rawls, who also brings a very interesting (and synergistic) skillset to Femme Farmacy, as his work in the medical field began as an OB/GYN. Dr. Rawls was always particularly sympathetic to his patients with chronic pelvic pain conditions such as interstitial cystitis and vulvodynia, and was determined to help them figure out the root cause of their pain.
As fate would have it, Dr. Rawls became very ill with lyme disease himself, and used his medical knowledge and research skills to embark upon a healing journey. Focusing on cellular health, environment and overall wellness, he was able to heal himself with a combination of strategic herbal formulations and lifestyle modifications. Through this journey, he learned of the connection between the lyme coinfections of ureaplasma and mycoplasma and these bacteria’s role in IC and vulvodynia. Today, he’s helping thousands heal from lyme with his supplement protocols, Vital Plan, and is one of the few lyme doctors out there who truly understands the gynecologic implications of this disease, helping women to heal themselves from chronic pain.

Today’s episode takes a look at physical health from a new perspective; the brain and nervous system. Eliz and Sami sit down with Lindsay Mitchell, the founder of Vital-Side, a membership program that empowers those with chronic illness and limbic system impairment to retrain their brain out of the chronic stress response, so they can get relief from their symptoms and find freedom in their lives. Lindsay shares her own struggle with lyme disease and the pivotal role brain retraining played in her recovery. The three discuss how pain is processed in the brain, the role of the autonomic and parasympathetic nervous system, and how dysregulation can be an impediment to full recovery of health & wellness. Lindsay highlights the ability everyone has to upregulate their immune system to work with - rather than against you - and help you heal. Along with her program, Lindsay shares some every day tips and tricks to begin brain retraining, whether you're dealing with conditions ranging from lyme disease to chronic pain and anxiety.
