This week on the Geek Garage podcast, we dive into the most outrageous and divisive entries in the Friday the 13th franchise: Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) and Jason X (2001)! In Jason Goes to Hell, Jason’s body is obliterated, but his evil spirit lives on, jumping between hosts as he hunts for a blood relative to restore his true form. Then, in Jason X, the franchise takes a wild sci-fi turn as Jason is cryogenically frozen and wakes up in space 400 years later, becoming an unstoppable killing machine (literally) as Uber Jason.
We share our thoughts on these campy, over-the-top movies that, while far from perfect, still offer plenty of entertainment through inventive kills and impressive practical effects. From demon-summoning daggers to Jason smashing heads in liquid nitrogen, these films are a testament to the franchise’s ability to embrace the absurd. Join us as we celebrate the chaotic fun of these unconventional slasher gems!

This week on the Geek Garage podcast, we're diving deep into the wild world of Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)! In The New Blood, Jason Voorhees faces off against Tina, a troubled teen with telekinetic powers, leading to an epic showdown of supernatural vs. slasher. In Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason leaves Camp Crystal Lake behind and wreaks havoc on a cruise ship before arriving in the Big Apple—though he doesn't get there until the final act.
We hit many highlights and bizarre moments, from Tina's Carrie-like powers to Jason's surprisingly limited time in Manhattan, and sharing our thoughts on why these two entries miss the mark in the franchise. Plus, we dive into other films that deal with telekinesis and the unique way movies have captured Manhattan's essence, often better than Jason did!
