Guess That Record returns with Jake Shimabukuro as our guest! Hailing from Honolulu, Jake is one of the world's greatest ukulele players. A sought after talent, he's performed with the likes of Jimmy Buffett, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, and Warren Haynes. His newest album, "Blues Experience," is a collaboration with the great Mick Fleetwood. In this episode, Jackson and Jake talk about his approach to ukulele, and what it was like to work with the Fleetwood Mac drummer on this new album.

The newest episode of Guess That Record is the first to be recorded outside of Calgary, as Jackson travelled to Seattle to interview Chuck Burgi for the second time! Chuck is currently the drummer for Billy Joel, a role he's held since 2006. Chuck has also worked with artists like Hall & Oates, Meatloaf, Blue Öyster Cult, and many more. Jackson and Chuck met up the day before Billy Joel took to the stage at T-Mobile Park to go over Chuck's routine on the road, and how he approaches select songs from the Billy Joel songbook.

The biggest episode of Guess That Record to date has Jackson interviewing legendary guitarist Andy Summers from The Police! As the band's guitar player, Andy can be heard on all of their incredible songs including Every Breath You Take, Roxanne, and Message in a Bottle. Outside of The Police, Andy has released 13 solo albums, composed film soundtracks, and has collaborated with artists like Robert Fripp, Eric Burdon, and many more. Andy has won five Grammy Awards, and in 2003 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police. In this episode, Jackson and Andy break down select tracks from The Police's discography, and talk about Andy's current projects.

Jackson speaks with legendary British photographer Gered Mankowitz in this episode of Guess That Record! Having been active since the 1960s, Gered has been one of the most prolific music photographers of his generation, with many of his photos becoming iconic album covers. Gered has worked with The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Kate Bush, Phil Collins, and many more. In the episode, Jackson and Gered review a selection of his photos to learn about the stories behind them, and discuss how photography techniques have changed over the years.

Our first episode of 2024 has the one and only Dweezil Zappa joining Jackson on Guess That Record! The son of legendary musician Frank Zappa, Dweezil followed in his footsteps to become a master guitarist and composer in his own right, releasing six studio albums over the course of his career. He's also carried on the legacy of his father's music by fronting the successful group Zappa Plays Zappa. In this episode, Jackson and Dweezil talk about how he learned guitar under the tutelage of Eddie Van Halen, Frank Zappa's greatest hits, and how he managed to earn a part in an Arnold Schwarzenegger film.

In this episode, Jackson interviews Nathan Raudnitz, the lead singer and guitarist of the UK based band Speedvark. Founded in 1986 by Ben Raudnitz and Pedro Flatt, the duo has expanded their lineup in recent years by including Ben's kids Marcus, Mig, and Nathan. Guess That Record reaches double digits! In this tenth episode of the podcast, Jackson interviews Al Staehely. Born and raised in Texas, Al began performing music in the late 60s. After moving to LA, he joined the band Spirit where he served as the bassist and lead vocalist from 1971-1973. He later became an entertainment lawyer, representing musicians such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Nash. During the episode, Jackson and Al talk about his new album, Al's experiences backing up artists like Chuck Berry and Keith Moon, and how he's juggled music and law.

Guess That Record returns with the first episode of 2023, on the one year anniversary of our very first episode! For Episode 9, Jackson interviews Susan Rogers. Susan served as the staff engineer for Prince from 1983-1987, working on some of the biggest albums of Prince's career including Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Parade, and Sign O the Times. She also worked with artists like David Byrne, Tevin Campbell, and the Barenaked Ladies (producing their hit album Stunt). After leaving the music business, she became a professor at the Berklee College of Music. In this episode, Jackson and Susan speak about how she got her start in music, and what it was like to work with Prince.

As a founding member of Toto, David wrote the band's biggest songs including Hold the Line, Rosanna, and the all-time classic Africa (a song in which David also handles the lead vocal duties). This week's episode of Guess That Record sees Jackson interviewing Canadian drummer Floyd Sneed. Floyd (who hails from Jackson's hometown of Calgary) is the original drummer for Three Dog Night, serving two stints with the band from 1968-1974, and again from 1981-1984. During his time with the band, Floyd played on the group's biggest hits such as "Joy to the World," "Mama Told Me Not to Come," "Shambala", and "One." Floyd has also been a member of bands such as the short-lived group S.S. Fools (which featured Toto vocalist Bobby Kimball), and Tommy Chong's band Little Daddy and the Bachelors. In this episode, Floyd speaks with Jackson about growing up in Calgary, and breaks down some of Three Dog Night's most well known songs.

Jim is a Canadian songwriter who is best known for his longtime collaboration with Bryan Adams, co-writing songs like "Cuts Like a Knife," "Summer of 69," "Run To You," and "Heaven" (which hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100). Jim has also worked with artists like Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Glass Tiger, Kiss, Roger Daltrey, and many more. In this episode, Jim talks about his beginnings in music, his career writing with Bryan, and helping David Foster with "Tears Are Not Enough," the Canadian contribution to African famine relief in 1985.
