Mark very kindly agreed to come and share his story with us. And boy, it is a story!

I am very proud to bring you this episode. Mark is an incredible man. Not only has he had an amazing career to Virgin Atlantic and British Airways but he's a thoroughly decent human.

  • You've just won a fantastic new client, you've worked incredibly hard to get them and you just want to get started but you haven't agreed any terms and conditions. You worry that asking them to sign will put them off. What do you do?

I wanted to understand how you can stop yourself from getting into legal disputes in your business. They can cause so much stress for business owners and entrepreneurs.

I sat down with Alvin Ittoo, Commercial Law Solicitor from Acumen Business Law to talk about the key things any business owner needs to understand about contracts and disputes.

    We covered:

What mistakes do businesses make when it comes to contracts. Why protecting intellectual property (IP) is critical and how you can protect yours. One key thing you want to make sure you do protect any IP your suppliers create. What to do when someone isn't paying because they aren't happy with the work you have done. What to do when things goes wrong and how to stop a dispute going to court.

    I asked some key questions:

Are verbal contracts legally binding and what are the dangers?Do you HAVE to get your terms and conditions signed? Can you use boilerplate contracts or take other people's contracts and rehashing them for your own use?

  • How can we, as entrepreneurs improve our fitness levels and do more exercise?

Fitness and exercise doesn't come naturally to everyone, unless you are fully committed or a personal trainer then you may find it a challenge to get out for a run or down the gym for a workout. This is even harder if you have dependants like kids or people you care for.

The challenges entrepreneurs and business owners face only makes it harder. Especially when you start out or you are going through a rough patch.

That said making exercise part of your routine is critical to support you in being successful in your business.

In this episode I explore the topic with personal trainer, fitness expert and entrepreneur Lynsey Treharne. She is deeply passionate about helping women get into the weight section of the gym but anyone can benefit from her passion, knowledge and experience.

How can we improve our fitness and wellbeing with the pressures of running a business? Is there a link between success in business and having a success fitness regime? How do you manage to fit exercise in when you have no two weeks that look the same?

  • Why are business leaders still leading through fear and intimidation? Treating people with a lack of respect? Why does this seem to be more prevalent in the investor community?

We see it on TV and I see it happening in the business community, investors speaking to their potential investees like crap. In this episode I explore what's wrong with this attitude and why it needs to change.

This episode is useful for small businesses that are seeking investment from investors.
