You're probably wondering, what is that?
Is it a song? Yes it is, but that's not what this episode is about.
the song Wide Open Spaces by the dixi chicks: – which funny enough is a song about women who leave home to pursue their dreams, which involves giving yourself permission to making some mistakes along the way. Great message btw...
In our everyday lives wide open spaces are significant - they are there to serve a purpose.

We introduce a new segment called: How they started...where I feature entrepreneurs and their businesses and explore the WHY behind their journey.
It's like discovering the reason why your favourite song was written, how many times they were rejected by radio stations before it became a hit. Entrepreneurs also have layered stories on how their brand came into being, some stories are inspiring, some are just well pragmatic. - like it just makes sense that was the next step to take.
I feature the hardworking, super smart founder of the online tech publication: Recharged. Nafisa Akabor, tech and EV car journalist - shares how this idea came about after her retrenchment from the Mail and Gaurdian. While most people would be stuck feeling a sense of rejection. Nafisa saw it as redirection. In some ways it was almost instinctive that the next step for her would be to not only start her own publication, but to also monetize it.
Nafisa is also a Car Awards judge, where she is honored for her opinion and insights on the EV Category.

A California native, she has spent nearly her entire adult life in Germany, with brief interruptions in New York City and Las Vegas. The Girl with Twenty Fingers, her debut novel, was largely written while she was pregnant with her twins, during her toddler’s naps. Her reviews read as follows:
''This engrossing novel is a multi-layered tale of love, loss, and the intricacies that come along with each, The Girl with Twenty Fingers follows a woman who finds her way back to music and herself through the unlikeliest of friendships. Filled with wonderfully flawed characters and lyrical prose, Mueser’s debut is sure to delight the senses. A must read for fans who love stories about secrets, family and second chances. ''

"In Kate Mueser's Munich, strangers become friends, Mozart brings distant generations together, and piano duets underscore the doubts and hopes of asymmetrical human history. ... But who in the story gives and who receives the greatest gift?"Virginia Euwer Wolff
