On May 9, 2019, at 2:28 a.m., a third-floor occupant, Ernest Lee, called 911 to report a fire at his townhome in Edgewood, Maryland. The fire would ultimately result in a tragic outcome, injuring two residents and claiming the lives of Mr. Lee and two others. Among the devastating aftermath, the Office of the State Fire Marshal found suspicious evidence related to the fire which prompted the Harford County Sheriff's Office to investigate the incident as an intentional act of arson.
