  • Ever feel like you’re a sitting duck when it comes to getting stuff done? You’re not alone. As ADHDers, a lack of dopamine and norepinephrine can fry our motivation and energy, making everyday tasks feel like we’re pushing boulders uphill.

  • We decided to move house recently. And not just any old move. We relocated interstate (hello, Melbourne!).

  • Ahhhhh
 The Dreaded ADHD Burnout Cycle.

    Or as James and Jules named him
 “Barry Burnout.”

    He sneaks up on you when you least expect it. He lures you in with promises of novelty, excitement, fun, and success. He tempts you with a shiny new object. And once you’re committed, he transforms into overwhelm, drudgery and pain.

    Why do we all keep doing it?

    James and Jules compare their burnout styles - as an AuDHDer, James experiences more of a sensory overload. Whereas Jules prefers more of a classic ADHD “thrill of the chase, then get shitty when I have to grind it out” approach ;)

    They also chat about how to spot Barry, how to stop him in his tracks before he gets a foot-hold, and how to recover when you find yourself in burnout in the future.

  • Meet Faye, the founder of Untoxicated, and a “grey area” drinking coach.

    She was a heavy drinker for many years, but never really saw herself as an alcoholic, because on paper her life looked pretty successful. That was until 2017, when she wound up in hospital from her drinking. But she turned it all around, and part of her comeback story is that she has created a thriving community of people who are also giving up alcohol.

    And you know what? She’s also a late diagnosed ADHDer. So we got her on the show to pick her brain about the connection between ADHD and addiction, and what we can do about it.

  • As ADHDers, we know how hard it can be to eat healthy meals. There’s so much conflicting info out there on which foods to eat and which ones to avoid. And then there’s all the cooking and prep time (SNORE!).

    But what if you could just tweak a couple of things with your meals, to give you more energy and focus throughout the day?

    I know we said a while back that we’re not going to offer advice
 but we’re breaking all the rules now! Because there are some simple things that we do (and that Jules does with her naturopathic clients) that can be a real game changer. And we want you to know about it too.

  • Meet Narelle - she found out 3 years ago that she’s both Autistic and an ADHDer - a double-neurospicy brain type commonly referred to as “AuDHD.”

    AuDHDers often find themselves pulled in 2 different directions, as the different parts of our brains try to coexist in the same person. For example - one part of you might thrive on variety, whereas another part of you feels safer when there is consistency.

    To make things even more interesting, Narelle is a professional organiser (say whattt
 and ADHDer who organises OTHER people??). Which makes her pretty awesome in our eyes! So we had to get her on the show.

    Why getting a formal diagnosis can be empowering. Adjusting to family life after finding out you’re neurodivergent. The grief process and other emotions after getting a diagnosis later in life.   • Meet Alexx - a podcaster with her own show called Low Tox Life, and a freshly diagnosed ADHDer.

    Like many of us who are late-diagnosed, she first started to realise she was an ADHDer when her son was also going through an assessment. She talks about the crisis point that occurred that caused her to plunge into depression. And then we cover the process she went through in order to get her own assessment.

    We also unpack some of the reflections and emotions that came up after diagnosis, and chat about some of the hardships around making life-long friendships as an ADHDer.

    We throw around some ideas about steps that workplaces could take to become more neurodivergent-friendly, and how it could be transformative for both businesses and their team members.

  • In this episode we chat about the current increase in ADHD late diagnosis. We discuss the potential reasons why people can be overlooked for an assessment for all of their childhood and (for some) - a large chunk of their adult lives.

    We talk about the different ways that ADHD can present, and why this can cause some ADHDers to fly under the radar, especially during school years. Spoiler alert - if you’re NOT hyperactive
 then your ADHD may go unnoticed for longer. We also talk about why parents may have turned a blind eye to ADHD symptoms in their kids.

    So many of us didn’t look like the “stereotypical” ADHD picture if we’re intelligent, or if we look “successful” in life! So we go unnoticed until finally the wheels fall off. (Hellooo
 burnout!)

    We also unpack a topic called “masking,” which is where ADHDers make an effort (either consciously or unconsciously) to hide their ADHD traits and appear neurotypical, in order to fit in and be accepted
 which can lead to more problems down the track.
