Jeff Jenkins is an award-winning content creator and travel journalist, also Founder of Chubby Diaries and Co-founder of Black Travel Alliance, and has sat on The Points Guy Advisory Panel. He has created a community that encourages and motivates plus-size people to travel the world.
Jeff is helping plus-size people and Black people feel represented in the travel industry. In this episode, we talk about his blog, Chubby Diaries, and his three pillars of inclusion including accessibility, comfort, and community. Jeff talks about how important it is to see people like himself traveling, in order to encourage other plus-size and Black people to feel welcome to explore the world.
We discussed tips for plus-size folks when traveling, how to prepare for a trip, and how to feel comfortable in the outdoors! We even discussed what airlines will give plus-size folks a free extra seat, and some essentials like bringing your own seatbelt extenders, plus-size wet suits, and what outdoor brands have plus-size backpacks.
Most importantly, Jeff talks to people “where they are right now,” as most of the content on the internet is focused on weight loss, rather than how bigger people should feel comfortable traveling now!
Jeff has been featured in several notable publications such as Forbes, New York Times, Washington Post, Google, Travel Noire, Essence, Travel + Leisure, Lonely Planet, Texas Monthly, Outdoor Retailers, and The Point Guy. He helps people travel the world no matter their size through community, branded content, and motivational talks. You can expect 100% authenticity, transparency, and lots of fun. He has a skill of drawing out big dreams in people and every time you are around him you can expect to enjoy yourself! Jeff’s enthusiastic personality, charisma, and contagious big smile makes him one of a kind!
In this episode of The Millennial Travel Podcast I discuss with Jeff Jenkins:
Travel tips for plus-size people What destinations are doing a good job of being inclusive for plus-size travelers? What are some challenges that black people face traveling? How can we be more sensitive? Mike Schibel was born and raised in Pacific Palisades, California, and was exposed to stunning travel destinations from my crib! When he was five, his Grandparents gushed about a recent trip to Egypt and after seeing those Pyramids, he knew I had to travel!
As a Junior at the University of Arizona, Mike was ready for something new. He spent a semester abroad in London, exploring Europe, Scandinavia, and North Africa. Mike stepped way outside my comfort zone and tried new things.
All roads led back to LA and the Entertainment industry post-college. For a decade, he rose the ranks as an agent and talent manager. Which of course led to the search for a deeper meaning in my life.
In 2010 Schibel bought a one-way ticket to Australia. Without a plan, he spent a year on the road, meeting interesting people, seeing incredible places, and having memorable inspiring conversations.
Mike’s passion for traveling, storytelling, and community building led me to launch, “Travel With Meaning” in 2017. He created “Travel Talk Live” to bring travelers together to recreate the feelings he experienced on the road, build an authentic community to inspire and encourage others to travel.
In the Spring of 2019, Mike launched the “Travel With Meaning” Podcast to continue to grow our community.

In this episode of The Millennial Travel Podcast I discuss with Mike Schibel:
How did Mike get started with travel? Has Mike ever tried to make others happy in other to find his own fulfillment? Tell us about his experience at Cafe Gratitude in San Francisco. How does Mike try to work gratitude into his life? How can we be more “pura vida” in our life and live a more grateful life? How can we be as present at home as we when we are traveling? How did Mike start the Travel with Meaning Podcast? The Millennial Travel Podcast Rapid Fire Questions I ask Mike Schibel:
If Mike could go anywhere for a life-changing retreat where would it be? Peru! If he could have one person on the Travel with Meaning podcast who would it be? Mark Peacock is the host of the TravelCommons podcast, one of the longest running travel radio shows on the internet. Mark has been a frequent business traveler for more than 30 years. He travels all over the world for high-tech companies and management consultancies.
Mark Peacock’s first TravelCommons podcast was recorded in May 2005 in the bathroom of the Wardman Park Marriott in Washington, DC. Originally, TravelCommons was going to be travel blog, but Mark turned out producing the “Voice of the Traveler” podcast. Ask Mark frequently says, “it is more about the journey than the destination.”
Mark has lived all over the United States, and is currently living in Chicago for the third time with his wife and two kids.

Casey Fenton is the founder of Couchsurfing, a global travel community, especially great for solo travelers. Casey helped to spearhead the sharing economy & grow the platform to over 20 million users worldwide. I consider the platform to be one of the best domestic and international travel hacks and for solo travel on a budget. Casey is also co-founder of Upstock, a cloud-based platform to give employee equity in the company they work for.
If you don’t know the meaning of “couch surfing” it’s basically where you stay on someone’s couch when traveling. The platform Couchsurfing however doesn’t mean you have to sleep on someone’s couch… The point of Couchsurfing is to “share authentic travel experiences” and your host will put you up in their home absolutely free.
In this episode of The Millennial Travel Podcast I discuss with Casey Fenton, Founder of Couchsurfing:
His story going to Iceland How a trip to Iceland was an impetuous for him starting Couchsurfing and us starting Under30Experiences. The story of how Couchsurfing started How Casey flew to Iceland as a solo traveler and decided to find a couch to sleep on with locals Why Casey loves Iceland and has traveled their five times The quick story how Under30Experiences started. Why Casey Fenton is starting his new company in Iceland and is mentoring Iceland Startups How they picked the name “couchsurfing”. How Casey Fenton got the “travel bug” and considered himself an explorer. How he got over a break up by traveling and buying plane tickets to random places. Casey Fenton’s formula for intensity, diversity, and frequency of experience, and how he got out of his comfort zone. His idea for “hacking destiny”. What Casey Fenton learned about himself traveling? He learned to be less shy, and improved himself. Some examples of how Casey traveled to different places and how Couchsurfing was a great travel hack for saving money Casey Fenton’s idea of “ego hacking”. The book that opened up Casey’s eyes that we are all sleep. How a silly fight with his best friend opened his eyes to a lot of things about life. Casey’s idea of a “feedback ratio”. Why it’s important to have ego and how we can use it as a tool. How we can avoid suffering through non-attachment How to learn to trust yourself more and let others trust you. Casey finishes talking about his startup Upstock and how you can incentivize employees with equity to anyone in your company with his tool.Resources from Casey Fenton:

Scott Keyes is the founder and CEO of Scott’s Cheap Flights. In 2013, he found a flight deal he just can’t pass out on—a $130 round trip ticket from New York City to Milan. When he returned home, his friends and colleagues asked him to let them know the next time he finds a great deal. In a nutshell, that’s how Scott’s Cheap Flights came about.
Scott’s Cheap Flights newsletter aims to enable people to travel and see and experience the world. Unlike automated flight deals and alerts sent out by way of affiliated links, they leverage their team of human flight experts and innovative software to provide meticulously-vetted and high quality deals that are worth their members’ time and money. Some are even mistake fares!
To date, Scott’s Cheap Flights has more than 2 million members (and growing each day!). The total amount of airfare their deals have helped members save is already at a whopping $100 million! Scott’s Cheap Flights is run by a remote team with members situated in many parts of the world. Undoubtedly, they are making people's travel dreams attainable, one deal at a time!
So far, Scott has visited a total of 46 countries. He lists Oaxaca, Mexico as his favorite destination. He runs Scott’s Cheap Flights with co-founder and COO, Brian Kidwell.
Personally, I recommend the Scott’s service in The Millennial Travel Guidebook and gave Scott’s Cheap Flights great review. Many people have asked if Scott’s Cheap Flights Premium is worth it, and I always say yes. Scott’s Cheap flights is very legitimate--their mission is to enable people to travel and experience the world!
In this episode of The Millennial Travel Podcast I discuss with Scott Keyes of Scott’s Cheap Flights:
How to use Scott’s Cheap Flights. How to find cheap flights. When and when to find cheap flights. Is Scott’s Cheap Flights good for domestic travel or/or international flights? Scott also shares what the 24-hour rule is, the holy grail of the cheap flights world, and the cheapest time to book a flight. Travel hacking booking flights. Where to find cheap flights last minute What apps and travel hacks does Scott Keyes use? What blogs or other resources does Scott read? TravelisFree.com View from the Wing with Gary LeffOn finding the best flight deals, Scott has this to say, “The better the deal is, the shorter it’s going to last. So finding about them early and being able to book early is really really key.”

Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott are the husband-and-wife storytelling team behind Uncornered Market Adventurers, world travelers, adventurers, storytellers, and tourism advisors from the US and based in Berlin. They have been to over 90 countries and are two of my very favorite people in tourism.
Their goal is to create a movement of respectful travelers and organizations who live at the intersection of adventure, deep travel experiences, and caring for our planet and its people. We hope not just to inspire, but to help others build a story-filled life, whether that life takes them around the block…or around the world.
Today, we speak about Sustainable tourism & adventure travel that cares for our planet & its people. This topic is one that I’m super passionate about as Daniel and Audrey are owners of a tourism development consultancy & travel blog.
They aim to humanize the places we visit, drawing our readers in through photographs and stories, so they connect with people and places they might otherwise never hear about or actively disregard. In turn, through their personal interactions, we seek to alter the view of America that people get from watching the news, taking in movies, or watching popular television shows. Call this our small contribution to public diplomacy and mutual understanding in today’s complicated world.
Dan took his first trip abroad at the ripe old age of 26. He went to India by himself, discovered another planet located on Earth, and fell terribly ill (dengue fever). He eventually recovered and has struggled with various bouts of the travel bug ever since.Audrey has successfully managed projects in over twenty countries – often remotely – but prefers to be on the ground working directly with the people affected.
Coming from a family tradition in international work that goes back three generations, her international focus in life is not a surprise to those who know her well. She looks for everyday universal experiences when she travels and aims to make personal connections with people and cultures in varied environments. She has a weakness for dark chocolate and can bake a mean apple crisp.
If you want to know how this travel couple affords to travel the world, they break it down in three ways on their website:

Mike Corey never backs away from an adventure, no matter how strange it may be. As a Canadian adventure travel YouTuber and BBC television host, Mike has been traveling the world for eight years. He is on a global quest to challenge fear by seeking unique experiences in weird and wonderful destinations around the world. Mike aims to inspire others to fight their fears by plunging headfirst into beautiful, unknown locations and participating in undocumented cultural celebrations.
With a degree in Marine Biology and a talent for breakdancing, Mike worked as an award-winning filmmaker before creating his own YouTube channel - Fearless and Far.
