Today's episode is a special Catch a Vibe with Lola one! Remember these? In these episodes, I take a laidback approach to discussing something on my mind about Kdramas (or Kdramaland) and for this one, I run through all the dramas from this year so far that I've watched, dropped, started, and/or placed on hold. I also let you in on what's been going on with me and why I'm in need of a podcast vacation for July. So, join me in this episode for an unedited, chill discussion on the state of Kdramas and me. And don’t forget: Check out lolapopsoff.etsy.com for your own My Poppin’ Kdrama Journal.

Today's throwing it back episode as some of you may have guessed is The King 2 Hearts! This is our first episode with two lead actors from other throwing it back episodes starring as leads again! In this one we go back to 2012 when this drama had me on the hook every week, coming back for more and more of our enemies to lovers main couple! However, after a rewatch, does my love for this drama remain the same...?
But as you know, in this season, I've been jumping around the past 20+ years of Kdramaland to find and rediscover what it is about these small screen masterpieces that make me love and appreciate them so much. It's also been a journey for me to return to my beginnings of watching Kdrama and remember what things I've learned from watching them and what more I hope to learn as I continue watching them! So, listen now to find out if my love for this drama remains or if there are some things I now see with mature eyes that alter this drama on my faves list!

Today's episode I'm throwing it back to a Baeksang Awards nominated Kdrama: School 2013 from 2013, of course! This drama isn't your fun high school Kdrama, it's one of those realistic ones, and yet, it's still one of my favorites. I had such a meaningful and moving experience rewatching this drama after 11 years and was almost a little surprised at how this drama means much more to me now than it did the first time I watched it. My time discussing this drama in this episode is the biggest testament to why I'm even doing this season of Throwing it Back!
Because as you know, in this season, I've been jumping around the past 20+ years of Kdramaland to find and rediscover what it is about these small screen masterpieces that make me love and appreciate them so much. It's also been a journey for me to return to my beginnings of watching Kdrama and remember what things I've learned from watching them and what more I hope to learn as I continue watching them!
So, join me for an episode where I express my undying love for Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin's friendship and one of the best bromances featured in Kdrama history!

There's some dramas that I really love right now and a few, not so much...So, check out this episode now to find out where I stand with Kdramas and if you there are any that I mention that you're loving or hating too! Today's episode I'm throwing it back to a drama special from 2010, The Great Gye Choon Bin! I'm not sure if anyone's ever seen this hour-long drama special from KBS, but I think it's a a gem of a drama directed by Goblin's Lee Eung Bok and written by our infamous Yoon Nan Joong. It's a gem of a story and I had a lovely time retelling the drama special in this Throwing it Back episode.
As we know, in this season of the podcast, we're jumping around the past 20+ years of Kdramaland to find and rediscover what it is about these small screen masterpieces that make us love and appreciate them so much. It's also a journey for me to return to my beginnings of watching Kdrama and remember what things I've learned from these dramas and what more I hope to learn as I continue watching them!

After a short break from my Throwing it Back episodes, we return with another classic, 2003's Summer Scent. It's one of the four "Endless Love" dramas, albeit the least popular one, but for me it was the first that I watched from this Hallyu Wave-inciting drama series. So, it only seemed right to return to it for this season!

After last week's episode, (almost 3-hour long rave about City Hunter) I decided it would be best to give you and I a short breather episode. So, today we're throwing it back to 2015's Splash Splash Love!
As we know, in this season of the podcast, we're jumping around the past 20+ years of Kdramaland to find and rediscover what it is about these small screen masterpieces that make us love and appreciate them so much. Next in our Throwing it Back w/Lola season is 2011's City Hunter! (And many of you guessed right it last week!) As we know, in this season of the podcast, we're jumping around the past 20+ years of Kdramaland to find and rediscover what it is about these small screen masterpieces that make us love and appreciate them so much. It's also a journey for me to return to my beginnings of watching Kdrama and remember what things I've learned from these dramas and what more I hope to learn as I continue watching them!
But with today's episode, I officially am discussing one of those pivotal Kdramas for me in my Kdrama journey. It's a drama that I unfortunately spend over two hours talking about in this episode because of this very fact. It's also a podcast episode about a drama that gives almost episode-by-episode spoilers...so proceed with caution! I do include time stamps if you want to listen to the production notes about the drama and/or just skip to the end where I give my favorite and least favorite things about this drama and any other general thoughts on it! But the bulk of this episode is a play-by-play of why I love this drama and it's a good episode for a drinking game! Drink every time I describe something as "so good!"
So, join me as I revisit one of my favorite Kdramas, City Hunter.

So, to hear about dramas I finished recently, dramas I started and can’t quite get into, dramas I started and might be loving, and dramas I’m looking forward to checking out—tune in now!

Today's episode is our 3rd installment of throwing it back in this season and I am glad to present to you 2009's Shining Inheritance! It was a longer commitment to throw it back to this 28-episode drama, but it's a family drama classic with all the theatrics and heart in the world! It was a hit during its time, so I wanted to revisit it to see if I think it deserved all that fame and glory! So, listen in now to find out if this one is one I believe still has some merit and was worth my time with this rewatch!

Today’s episode is my final episode of 2023 and season 3 of Lola Pops Off about Kdramas Podcast! To be honest, I had a little bit of difficulty finishing up this episode and even considered not sharing it in light of recent news. But I decided that I still wanted to share my year of Kdramas with you. This is also the third year of me hosting my very own Kdrama Awards and I wanted to stay true to this tradition of the podcast.
Not to mention, this episode is like another love song to the year of Kdramas and my time with you—so thank you all, yet again, for an amazing year with all the Kdramas we watched and popped off about together. I hope your year in Kdramas was a wonderful one and that you’re already looking forward to a new year in Kdramaland.
As always, please join me in this episode to learn about some of the highlights and disappointments of the year in Kdramas for me and make sure to watch along as you listen as this episode has a video companion over on Spotify. (Side note: I didn’t mention even half of the dramas I watched this year in this episode, but if you want a formal count let me know!)
Oh! One more thing, another reason to listen to this episode is to find out about what’s to come in season 4 of the podcast—there will be some changes for sure!!
And the print version of “My Poppin’ Kdrama Journal,” will be released soon, so keep your eyes peeled for the official drop in the new year!
The first episode of Season 4 will be released the week of January 15, so see you all then!! -
Christmas came early again this year for me with the return of one of my favorite episodes I’ve ever done! This episode is truly a gift to me. So, thank you, thank you, thank you to Tiffany, Lee Song Wook, Beth, Sharon, Milica, Ariane, Squash & Yovita for allowing me to learn more about you and your time in Kdramaland! I can't wait to continue getting to know you all and look forward to getting to know more of you listening! Please check out this episode and show lots of love to our featured guests! Also, I had so much fun with this one and I hope you do too!!
Small edit:: For question, “Do you have a Kdrama ritual? How do you best enjoy watching your Kdramas?”
Yovita’s answer is: “Watching kdramas, and contemplating them through podcasts, OSTs, and fanfics.”
I mistakenly read Squash’s answer from last year! 🙈
