Jessie Reyez was in Berlin for a stop on her tour but was sweet enough to visit me for an interview. To be honest, this was one of the most in-depth interviews I've ever had; this one is HIGHKEY in-depth! I loved every second about it because Jessie Reyes is insanely down to earth, self-reflective, and sympathetic. I was crazy about her after the conversation! We took a real deep dive into her childhood, her beginnings in music, her journey to mental hygiene, her tour life, and working together with Sam Smith on their latest song, "Gimme."

For the very first Lowkey Deep episode of 2023, I was lucky enough to meet Måneskin on their promo tour for the new album Rush that was released yesterday. I'm still impressed by how considerate and attentive they are with every single person they meet, which also shines through in the conversation we had. For example, we talked about how they manage international fame, what effect different languages have on their songs, and of course, their new album, Rush.

For this Lowkey Deep episode, I sat down with singer, songwriter, and producer Blxst. It was definitely one of my most calm, relaxed, and deep interviews of the past year. From the very start, Blxst was ready to chat, funny, and open with me. He told me for example, that if you ever make Blxst mad, you can only find that out over a song, why he might get into gardening or even pluming, and how he’s building a business beyond his music.

I met Sam Tompkins for this interview a little over a month ago. He was on his first promo tour around Europe, so I felt like he was really excited to travel, meet his fans, and get an idea of what tour life could look like for him. And because of that spirit, we had a really easy-going and fun conversation, where he told me, for example, why Dianna Ross may have seen him fully passed out drunk, what started his journey to writing really intimate songs, and why it might even take years before we get to hear his very first album.

This week I was able to weasel myself into Dermot Kennedy's schedule, who was originally in the building for a completely different gig. But he and his team were sweet enough to free up some time for me so I could have a sweet and short interview with him. Dermot filled me in on the secretive stuff that is going on while he is live on stage, opened up about the pressure he felt due to the release of his sophomore album, Sonder, and why he thinks his private life is just too boring to talk about.

Raye came in for a Lowkey Deep interview on the 18th of October, and I was definitely overrunning the time slot that I had with her, just because talking to her was crazy interesting. She told me, for example, how her label massively screwed her over, forcing her to work for other artists instead of her own, about the unfair treatment of mostly female vocalists in the dance industry, and her journey of finally setting herself free to create her very first album after working in the music industry for over 10 years.

This Lowkey Deep episode with Sophie and the Giants was already recorded a few weeks ago, on September 21, 2022. However, it’s so memorable for me because I immediately felt like Sophie and I had the same vibe. We were not only giggling from the first minute and throughout the whole conversation, but she was also open to sharing a lot of deep thoughts, struggles, and emotions. For example, she told me how at one point she had to break up with her own band, about a much-needed emotional wakeup call, about creating a safe space in the form of an own club and finding her own path in music.

This interview with GloRilla was absolutely funny, real, and, as always, lowkey deep. For example, GloRilla told me how she was so broke at one point, that she was almost homeless, how she experiences the sexist treatment female rappers have to deal with, and she showed me the very first voice message that Cardi B sent her. This GloRilla Interview was recorded on the 20th of October, 2202.

This is a really quick and spontanious interview that I had with Louis Tomlinson. He came to our radio station for something completely different, but was kind enough to take a few minutes for a Lokey Deep Bonus episode. Louis told me how he approached finding his own style in music, if he considered quitting his career, and how it felt to be on stage all by himself for the first time. If you like the podcast, make sure to subscribe and rate it! I’d really appreciate it!

Today I sat down and had an interview with Rema. He told me why a pool party played a major role in his career, how he handles being a public figure even though he is an introvert, and where he was when champagnepapi Drake reached out to him. I plan to post a video version of this episode on YouTube, so keep an eye out for Lowkey Deep there <3!

In this episode, Cassandra sits down with her interview guest, Dean Lewis. Chances are you know him from TikTok or the last time you had a good cry with a sad Spotify playlist, because Dean makes the most pure and vulnerable pop ballades out there right now. They talked about his kink with making people cry, why he thought his career was over at one point, and the girl that inspired almost every song on his upcoming album, The Hardest Love.
