Jordan has hosted a top 50 iTunes podcast for over 12 years and receives over six million downloads per month, making The Jordan Harbinger Show one of the most popular podcasts in the world. On The Jordan Harbinger Show, Jordan deconstructs the playbooks of the most successful people on earth and shares their strategies, perspectives, and practical insights with the rest of us.

    Key Takeaways:

One of the keys to a great interview is great preparation. You can’t connect with people that you idealize. My listeners are going to be with me for as long as I have their trust and attention, Shaq is going to leave after we’re done with the interview. A lot of people who are really charismatic – or charming – are people who listen really well and think about what’s in it for the person their talking to and not just what’s in it for themselves. • Ed struggled through challenges and pain. After two decades of drug addiction—including 11 devastating years of addiction to methamphetamine—Ed had thrown away his life savings, biotech career, home…even his dog. He’d spent months in jail, and four years in meth psychosis. He heard disembodied voices, believed vast conspiracies targeted him, and estranged himself from everyone who’d tried to help him.

After getting clean in 2008, Ed discovered: Just because you’re done with drugs, doesn’t mean drugs are done with you. He continued to battle severe mental health challenges.

Ed triumphed over adversity, and found his strength through struggle. Amazing people inspired him to pursue a spiritual path of self-improvement and serving his communities.

Ed Kressy may be the only person who was once arrested by the FBI, yet went on to turn his life around and receive a community service award from the director of the FBI. He transformed his past from a liability, into an asset.

You will be inspired by his message, which is pointed, positive, and powerful: Redemption is possible, despite the most hopeless-seeming circumstances. Never give up on a human being…kindness is never wasted. Second chances benefit the giver (society), as well as the receiver.

He became a volunteer first responder, and currently volunteers for nonprofits that deliver entrepreneur training to currently and formerly incarcerated men and women. He overcame his paranoid fear of the FBI by volunteering for the FBI, and now assists their outreach to communities affected by addiction and incarceration.

He pursued his lifelong dream of being a writer, using his story as a way to help others. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, Vox, and the San Francisco Chronicle. His book, My Addiction & Recovery, is being published in April 2020, by Lifestyle Entrepreneurs Press. It is for readers seeking a greater understanding of the possibilities for power through adversity, via a personal, poignant, triumphant story.

He has delivered talks for MIT, Google, LinkedIn, Cisco, and others. He has twice been a storyteller for The Moth.

In the future, Ed will continue to leverage his partnerships, platforms, and message to bring hope for transformation to as wide an audience as possible.

    Key Takeaways:

Just because you’re done with drugs, doesn’t mean drugs are done with you. - Ed Kressy

Everything can wait except the search for spiritual meaning. - George Harrison

To speak of a person searching for god is like speaking of the mouse searching for the cat. - CS Lewis

It is better to conquer one’s self than to win a thousand battles. - Unknown

  • About Akshay:
After moving to Austin, Texas from Bombay, Bangalore and Singapore, I overcame a lifestyle of drug addiction that killed two of my friends in high school. When I then decided to join the United States Marine Corps, two doctors told me that boot camp would kill me, thanks to a blood disorder I was born with. But I wasn’t about to let that stop me. Not only did I complete boot camp (with a twisted ankle, no less), but I was chosen as the honor graduate in Infantry school and went on to spend 7 months in Iraq where my job was to walk in front of our vehicle convoys to find explosives before they could destroy our vehicles. That was just the beginning of my understanding of the positive power of fear and struggle. In 2012, I left a comfortable corporate job to drag a 190-pound sled 350-miles across the world’s second largest polar ice cap for a month. I’ve swam through underwater caves, almost been killed by a falling boulder while glacier caving, experienced severe altitude sickness while climbing in the Himalayas, and suffered through heat exhaustion while running across countries. But my greatest struggle came many years after the war. I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and consequently struggled with depression and alcohol addiction that drove me to the brink of suicide. I then spent years studying neuroscience, psychology and spirituality to not only heal my own brain, but figure out what does it take to live a happy, succesful and meaningful life. That is when I rejected the label of PTSD assigned to me and created a new one – Fearvana. I define Fearvana as the bliss that results from engaging our fears to pursue our own worthy struggle. I then wrote a book about the concept called “Fearvana: The Revolutionary Science of How to Turn Fear Into Health, Wealth and Happiness.” I was blessed and truly humbled to receive a foreword for my book from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who said “Fearvana inspires us to look beyond our own agonizing experiences and find the positive side of our lives.” Beyond these adventures into the depths of my soul and in some of the most hostile environments on the planet, I have also: Completed a Masters in Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Publications, on a full scholarship. Been trained as a coach from an ICF-accredited institution Graduated from Jack Canfield’s Train the Trainer program Started a non-profit organization called The Fearvana Foundation. 100% of the profits from the book Fearvana are being donated to the foundation. Built a business that allows me to work from where I want, when I want. Used speaking engagements, coaching, seminars, and consulting to help countless people like you smash through their obstacles and find bliss through struggle.

    Key Takeaways:

The single greatest thing standing in the way of our well-being is our relationship to struggle

We are not our thoughts, our feelings, and our experiences.

All growth is really two things, find the problem and fix the problem and find what works and do more of it.

Happiness is the ability to find the gift in sadness.

    Fear propels you to prepare.

  • Burt is both INTENSE and POSITIVE and many like his authentic nature and pure coaching skills of packaging and delivering content in ways that get people to take action and get results.

Coach Micheal Burt is considered “America’s Coach,” a unique blend of a former championship basketball coach combined with a deep methodology of inner-engineering people to produce at a higher level in the business world. Coach Burt found his unique voice early in life at the age of 15 by starting his basketball coaching career with a junior pro basketball team.
He would go on to become a basketball coach and win his first championship at 18 years old at the same elementary school where he attended as a child. At 18 he would also begin a deep study into the work of Dr. Stephen Covey, author of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Burt quickly gravitated toward Covey’s “Whole Person Theory,” learning to inner engineer people to produce at higher levels by speaking to and coaching their body (skill), mind (knowledge), heart (desire) and spirit (confidence). This would become a staple of Burt’s coaching philosophy and one that would separate him from many of his contemporaries and create a niche for Burt even to this day.

At 19, while Coach Burt was in college he became the head freshman basketball coach at Riverdale High School. His first team went 17-0 and he would quickly get the attention of the head coach and the principal.

After three years of being an assistant coach at age 22 Burt was named the youngest head coach in the state of TN at the second largest high school. He would employ “The Whole Person Theory” to begin building a national power house with seven 25+ win seasons, four conference titles, and one state championship, the first in the school’s 30+ year history. He would go on to win over 74% of all of his games by using his strategies and deep motivational skills.

Because of Burt’s unique knowledge of building a “competitive intelligence” into his players and how his teams performed people around the world would begin asking, “What are you doing with those kids?” He would say, “We are building our own little Greatness Factory by coaching the whole person. At 25 he would begin writing the first of 14 books on his methodology. Companies who wanted to grow would pay attention and begin hiring Burt to speak, coach, and train their people to higher levels of performance.

At 31 years old and after winning a championship Burt would retire from athletic sports to build a multimillion dollar coaching business and form the Monster Producer coaching program, which is a systematic and consistent program that teaches sales professionals, business owners, and those interested in rapid growth the five big areas to get a significant lift in their business. Burt’s goal for each person is a 43% increase in a one year cycle and he routinely gets it.

Burt now, at 42 years old, speaks around the world on his books and growth methodologies and is the personal coach to some of the top performing companies in the world. His popular programs, online Monster Growth Academy, and structures are used by business people who want to get a significant increase in their business by using a specific formula Burt has cultivated over the last 27 years.

On this episode: Learn how to engineer yourself to achieve success. Discover how to gain momentum through inner congruence. Unlock your "play drive." Break through your plateaus.

    Key Takeaways:

A coach helps you find and fill your missing structures.

The way you build toughness in a unit is through shared struggle.

A team is a reflection of its leader.

    People overvalue their skill set.

Intentional congruence is when all parts of your life are feeding all parts of your life.

The minute the plant stops growing, it’s dying.

We move toward things we want.

If you ever want to learn anything, teach it to others.
