  • Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we explore some of cinema’s biggest box failures and decide if they deserve a second chance.

Listener Request Month rolls on as Troy and Brad welcome back Sammy of the GGTMC to take on one of the most intense films the podcast has ever covered. This week, we're headed to the trailer park with a big bucket of the Colonel’s famous chicken in hand to dive into the 2011/2012 Southern Neo-Noir, Killer Joe. Brace yourself—this film is not for the faint of heart. It's brutal, violent, and pushes boundaries, fully earning its NC-17 rating. The gang covers everything from the best fried chicken to Matthew McConaughey’s chilling performance, and even debates if this might be the movie that broke the Movie Guide scale. Killer Joe is unforgettable, but definitely not for everyone—proceed with caution.

Killer Joe is directed by William Friedkin and stars Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, and Thomas Haden Chruch.

  • Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we explore some of cinema's biggest box office failures and decide if they deserve a second chance.

To launch Listener Request Month, agents Troy and Brad were handed a covert mission: select a spy flick. Their choice? The Avengers. But hold your horses, this isn’t that Avengers. No capes, no superheroes—just the 1998 version. A tangled mess of a film, so baffling it left everyone scratching their heads. Jeremiah S. Chechik, the director, well... let’s just say, after this disaster, he found himself locked up in movie prison. Tune in as the boys unravel the chaos, question if any pair of leads has ever shared less chemistry, and wonder why in the world you'd hire Eddie Izzard
 and not let her talk.

The Avengers, directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, stars Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, Sean Connery, and Jim Broadbent.

This week on the podcast, Troy and Brad embark on a trip to Li Tolqa for some much-needed resort relaxation. As vacation month comes to a close, the guys dive into the 2023 horror sci-fi film Infinity Pool. A heads-up: if you're planning to watch the movie, it’s best to listen after you’ve seen it. The discussion is packed with spoilers, and going into Infinity Pool with as little prior knowledge as possible will enhance the experience. And just a warning—this episode is definitely not safe for work.

  • Guten Tag! Welcome back to your favorite podcast about some of cinema’s biggest bombs.

This week, we embarked on an unforgettable journey with our trusty companions, Troy and Brad, and a special guest—none other than John from the YouTube channel - And Now For Something A Little Bit Different. Our destination? The wild, unpredictable world of 2004’s notorious comedy, EuroTrip.

As we journeyed through the ups and downs of this cinematic adventure, we couldn’t help but long for the familiar laughs of sex comedy classics like American Pie and Porky’s. Poor Scotty didn’t know, or perhaps just wasn’t prepared, for the disdain some of us would harbor for this merry jaunt through various European locales, led by four of the dullest characters ever to grace the screen. Yet, amid the chuckles and eye-rolls, a lone defender rose to the occasion, ready to champion this so-called "gem." It was a whirlwind of emotions as we explored this quirky piece of film history, and trust us - you won't want to miss out on this hilarious and slightly painful ride!

EuroTrip is directed by Jeff Schaffer and stars Scott Mechlowicz, Jacob Pitts, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Travis Wester

Pack your bags! We’re hitting the road; it's vacation time! For August, Not A Bomb's theme is vacation movies! Troy and Brad ride down the holiday road with the Griswold family in their fourth installment of the Vacation films, 1997s Vegas Vacation. Did the Griswold Cinematic Universe (GCU) run its course when Sparky and the gang found their way to Sin City? Does a PG rating, a sleepy performance from Chevy Chase, and a “barely-there” plot make Vegas Vacation a certified bomb? Surprisingly, one of the hosts has watched this thing 900 times! You’re going to have to listen and find out who is the expert of the GCU!

Vegas Vacation is directed by Stephen Kessler and stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid, Wayne Newton, Ethan Embry, and Wallace Shawn.

This episode is a bit late for March, but we hope it's worth the wait. In this classic installment, the guys delve into Fritz Lang’s 1931 German suspense thriller - M. The film features Peter Lorre as Hans Beckert, a serial killer who targets children. The story revolves around the intense search for Beckert by the police and the criminal underworld. • Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we dive into some of cinema's biggest box office failures and explore whether they deserve a second chance!

On the latest episode, we continue our exploration of summer blockbusters with a $100 million science fiction adventure comedy loosely based on the 1974 Sid and Marty Krofft television series - Land of the Lost. Yes, you read that correctly, $100 million! With such a hefty budget, we had to bring in Jose from Watch/Skip+ to join the discussion. Things take a hilarious turn as we inexplicably transform into Southern lawyers and grill our guest on his opinions over this cinematic bomb. Land of the Lost features a mix of dinosaur urine, poop, drug, and masturbation jokes - it certainly checks all the Movie Guide boxes! But does it really deserve to be labeled as a Bomb? Tune in to find out!

Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and star Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, Anna Friel, and Jorma Taccone.

As we roll into the summer months, Not A Bomb has decided to dedicate July to the Summer Blockbuster season. That particular time of year when film budgets seemingly have no limit. To kick off our Summer Blockbuster extravaganza, Troy and Brad tackle 2004’s historical drama - The Alamo. All this is well and good, but here is what you need to know: the summer blockbuster season is May-August. That was the assignment, and Brad picked a film released in April, so we are already off to a great start! Outside of someone’s inability to understand time, we hope you enjoy the episode.

The Alamo is directed by John Lee Hancock and stars Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, Jason Patric, Patrick Wilson, Jordi Molla, and Emilio Echevarria

Join us for "Sword and Sandals" month, where historical drama takes center stage in this week's episode! We delve into Oliver Stone's 2004 epic, Alexander, a film notorious for its box office struggles and multiple “Razzie” nominations. Despite its initial reception, Stone has revisited and revised the film multiple times, with the final version boasting nearly 50 additional minutes of content. But do these changes elevate the movie? Does Angelina Jolie’s performance fit in a fantasy epic like Kull the Conqueror? And can Oliver Stone still be considered a top-tier director after this historical misstep? Tune in to explore these questions and more!

Sword and Sandals month “swings” back into Robert E Howard-town with 1997’s Kull the Conqueror. Originally intended to be the third Conan film, Kull trades Arnold Schwarzenegger for Kevin Sorbo. Yeah, downgrade there. Also, somehow this film cost $35 Million and has some of the most fart rockiest, fart rock to ever fart rock. All that being said, is Kull the Conqueror worth a rewatch? Should Kevin Sorbo change his name to Kevin Snorebo? Would Fabio make a better Kull? Can the lovely and talented Tia Carrere save this thing? Listen and find out!

Kull the Conqueror is director by John Nicolella and stars Kevin Sorbi, Tia Carrere, Thomas Ian Griffith, Litefoot, Harvey Fierstein, and Karina Lombard

  • Welcome back to Not A Bomb! Yes, we're still donning sandals, wielding swords, and delving into films that flopped at the box office. In this week's episode, we're diving into the work of one of our favorite directors once more: Guy Ritchie. This time, we’re exploring his interpretation of the Arthurian legend with the 2017 film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. And since we're revisiting Guy Ritchie's oeuvre, it’s only fitting to welcome Nate back to the show—he previously joined us for our last Guy Ritchie discussion. We completely forgot about this little detail and ended up sounding like complete idiots when it came up. Honestly, feeling lost is pretty much par for the course on this show. So sit back and enjoy the chaos!

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law, and Eric Bana

Today, we celebrate four years of bad impressions, terrible jokes, and questionable movie opinions. We couldn't be more excited to invite Sammy from the GGTMC, who was one of the podcast's biggest inspirations.

Grab your broadsword and slip into your sandals! Not A Bomb is launching "Sword and Sandals" month with the 2011 reboot, Conan the Barbarian. Throughout the episode, we can’t help but gush over Jason Momoa and his impressive physique
oh
and those two honey-baked hams on his backside. Seriously, it's time well spent! When we're not admiring Momoa, we delve into whether this often-overlooked entry in the Conan saga deserves all of the bad reviews and lackluster fanfare. Spoiler alert: our verdict on this film might surprise you!

Conan the Barbarian (2011) is directed by Marcus Nispel and stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, Said Taghmaoui, Leo Howard, Bob Sapp, and Ron Perlman.

Unfortunately, we bid ado to “Re-May'-ke” month with a remake of one of the most quintessential anime films of all time, Ghost in the Shell. You may have heard about this one during its production, as the film was controversial for some of its casting choices. Was the outrage justified? Did the film live up to the high expectations of the original anime? To help answer these questions and more, we are happy to bring back Jose from Watch/Skip+ to assist in the discussion.

Ghost in the Shell is directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Scarlett Johansson, Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Askaek, Chin Han, and Juliette Binoche

  • Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we dive into some of cinema's biggest box office failures and explore whether they deserve a second chance. â€œRe-May-ke” month is still rolling on as we peel back the layers on the darkly entertaining and tightly wound revenge story from 2000, Get Carter. Based on the novel “Jack Returns Home,” Get Carter failed to reach the heights of the 1971 version and only made back roughly 33% of its production budget. Sylvester Stallone was definitely trying to do something new with his career in 2000, but the film didn’t resonate with critics or the general audience. Does this 2nd remake of the famous British crime film deserve all the hate? Grab your trench coat, put on your best brooding face, and join us as we dissect this gritty gem on Not a Bomb!

Get Carter is directed by Stephen Kay and stars Sylvester Stallone, Miranda Richardson, Rachael Leigh Cook, Alan Cumming, Mickey Rourke, and Michael Caine.

  • Welcome to your favorite movie podcast, Not a Bomb! We take a second look at some of the biggest box office bombs in cinema history to see if they truly deserve their infamous reputations.

Our podcast is launching into outer space this "Re-MAY-ke" month as we explore the sci-fi adventure of 2012's Total Recall. Reimagining the beloved Paul Verhoeven classic was quite the challenge, considering its iconic status in the sci-fi/action realm. The 2012 adaptation replaces certain sci-fi aspects of the original with heightened action scenes, featuring more leaps, gunplay, and chases. Additionally, this version includes what could arguably be one of the most contentious performances ever dissected on our show. Intrigued to learn more? Tune in to discover who we're talking about!

And don't forget, "Get your ass to the podcast!"

Total Recall (2012) is helmed by director Len Wiseman and features a cast including Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, and Bill Nighy.
