Episode 32: Pioneering Research in the Skin-Immunity Connection - An interview with Geraldine Georgeou.
Today weâre focusing on the human microbiome - more specifically, the skin microbiome - and how we can elevate our wellness and immunity by taking care of the skin in a way you may not have considered before. My guest today is Geraldine Georgeou, an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Director of Designer Diets and author of The Australian Health Skin Diet, and one of Australia's leading experts in the human microbiome.
As the director of Designer Diets private clinics, Geraldine specialises in hormone and skin conditions, along with expertise in areas like gastrointestinal health and inflammation. An experienced media commentator, Geraldine has appeared on Channel 7 and served as chief dietitian for SBS's The Food Investigators. She's contributed to print publications and acted as a spokesperson for the Coeliac Society and Gut Foundation Council.
Today, Geraldine & I discuss the importance of an outside-in and inside-out approach to microbiome health, and how to nurture and protect our bodies' defence systems in both directions.

Welcome to Episode 31 - Buccal massage: the Alternative to Invasive Beauty - an interview with massage therapist and buccal massage specialist, Magalie Bodin.
You may have started seeing buccal massage on Instagram or TikTok - you know, the one where the therapist has their gloved hands literally INSIDE the clientâs face!
Buccal massage has a reputation for being THE alternative to invasive beauty procedures, such as botox and fillers, and for good reason: it actually works! Not only to define your facial features, reduce puffiness and refine skin texture, but also to create a more relaxed face overall by itâs attention to the underlying stress and tension in the facial muscles, tendons and fascia. And, it even helps release trauma that might be stores in the facial fascia.

Michelle is one busy woman! As co-founder of Bangalay Luxury Villas in beautiful Shoalhaven Heads near Sydney, Michelle runs the Villas with husband Tom and a staff of 50, plus 4 kids of her own, including a toddler! My aim was to chat with Michelle about cultivating wellness, but it turns out Michelle is much more pragmatic than that, and it was refreshing to hear her turn the idea of self-care into more about paying attention to important relationships, and becoming more self-aware, rather than necessarily taking on spa days and turmeric lattes!

Have you ever considered that the synthetic scents you love could be contributing to your mental health challenges?â â Research shows that some of the chemicals used in synthetic fragrance can negatively impact your nervous system, hormones and cortisol, leading to (or exacerbating) feelings of anxiety and/or depression.
As a practitioner with a strong interest in mental health, and seventeen books on the subject on my bookshelf, I have been researching topics around environmental contributors to anxiety and depression for several years.
