So this tale is about business and personal. Even though at first things seemed challenging and a bit of an 'oops' type situation, when you 'own up' gifts emerge totally unexpectedly! Quite a few blessings, in fact.
So these 2 stories intertwine with my perspective and I hope you can relate and get a smile out of my Life Lessons. I'd love a comment and definitely a share - you probably know someone that would appreciate knowing someone else had this goof!

This is a subject dear to my heart, because it's how I've built my businesses for years. Social Media showed up long after this became my main mode of operation.
Guess, what? I have wrestled for years to use my in person networking efforts online. Just have never grasped it, so I finally accept that.
But whether you have or not, however, you connect - the fun is learning about the other person - it is NOT, and I repeat, it is NOT about you! Having a true sense of curiosity of wanting to help people is what I believe makes it fun and leads to so many gems.
One a new friend, two other friends, and three doing business with one another. But your true wealth comes from being known as a "Connector". To get the call, 'who do you know'? That brings me so much joy that I can actually help someone connect and collaborate with someone else.
I hope this episode speaks to you and you find a different posture in your networking or embrace that you are already a connector. 'Cause it's AWESOME fun!! Passing On A Smile, Gail HeyCardLady.com - sponsor of OAC -

Hello my awesome listeners :-) Just finally showing up to re-engage you in fixing what I really never did...
I promised 7 years ago when I started this to always help you on your 'success journey', but I'm not really sure my stories did that. Although I did leave you with a lesson, but were you able to apply it to your business?
So I am switching it up and starting a private FaceBook group to invite those that really want to learn the things I've used to succeed. It's not launched yet, but will be Your Success Connector.
I will help you navigate if you struggle connecting at networking events or just want to learn some of the things I use for growing my business.
And one of the BEST tools I have alluded to, is my business, but never truly shared with you. Shame on me. So I plan to change all that.
You'll find me every day on YouTube - my Live FB videos will be there! And I will be showing many of the ways my business tools help people succeed.
I would love for you to share whatever business tools you use and like. Include your affiliate link if you have one :-)
So you'll hear from me more often!
And always, passing on a smile,
Gail

Hello One Awesome Communities.
Thank you for tuning in - once again I've been out of the loop and missing bringing you my messages. First I had 2 weeks of computer re-set issues, which just getting this broadcast done was a challenge with a reset.
And now I'm into my third week of a bronchial virus that has my voice a little bit whacked. But my message today all about stepping forward or stepping back depending on what path you're on or where the next one might take you.
I was going to call it "You've Got The Power with Introspection" but that bored me right out of the gate. So I'll just make it up as a go - haven't heard much about the series so there ya go.
Sometimes we don't necessarily look back with regret, just a wonder. What if I had done this instead of that? It's said we should not look back, but sometimes we need to to know where we're headed next. Every step we take leads our future, ever so slightly. Doesn't have to be a major step. Sometimes the most simple of things can have a huge impact on our lives.
I tell a silly story about a path I almost took and really scratch my head on where this would take me.
I say some goofy things on here instead of referring to our awesome trainer by name, Brenda, I say the woman. I blame on my froggy voice and foggy brain.
I hope you have an over the top awesome day and weekend.

I love the sound of laughter, from the baby to the audience watching a comedy. And I know if you infuse humor into your life on a daily basis it will touch not only your heart, but have that domino affect on those you interact with.
Today's episode is my usual story line of things I laugh at, but dig just a bit deeper in how you can use it in your business.
Diffuse the embarrassing moment, by seeing humor in it, at yourself, never at the expense of someone else...
But to get the full picture - why not listen in :-) Or video version at YouTube.com/gailfoley

Today's show is all about how much this world needs more kindness. There are billboards around our town reminding people of that. And I forgot to mention that on my show.
This episode could go quite long if I quote all the signs of us needing more kindness towards each other. So I reflect on 3 articles that I just saw yesterday. Two in our local Sunday paper. This first one was on the Opinion page, by a Judge. The headline "Key to saving our nation is for us to love our neighbors." I think showing kindness to our neighbors is a great way to love our neighbors, don't you?
And our local long time social columnist headlined her column, "Next time try a handwritten note instead of sending a text". Kindness and caring in a note, card, or a scrap piece of paper and it comes in the mail!!! What a concept!!
Nothing new, but something forgotten that we need to renew, revitalize and take a true moment of your time to express something as simple as "Thinking of you." And send it in the mail NOT in a text.
And the last reference from a national publication. "Pen, Paper and Sympathy"...in these emotional times, the simple act of writing a note means so much.
So listen in to hear more of my reflections on how we can show kindness every day, it will spread and blossom to the next person as they receive it. And my own personal perspective, I get a thrill when I receive a card, but I get triple the joy when I send it. Try it - see if that doesn't happen for you, too!
You can find out how I send cards and what makes this show possible at HeyCardLady.com Just send something today, no matter how you do it. I promise you you will make a difference to someone!
Thank you for listening - now go out and pass on a smile, and then put one in a card :-)
Passing on a smile, to you, Gail -
Wow! It has been a day or two since I've been on here! My last episode was during a lot of commotion and I took a step back and started enjoying things I had long put aside.
But I'm excited to come back with a new series called, "You've Got The Power" because we all do. It just may take a lot to find it and use it. Our ups and downs do not define us, how we work through them and appreciate the lessons we've learned, is what will.
No one listening to me today is the same person you were when you heard me last, in any normal circumstances, but especially in our past year. So I continue to focus on the power of being grateful for this moment. As tough as it may be, you cannot hold a negative thought or feeling while you are feeling or expressing gratitude.
I will be bringing one attribute a week in this series and will be posting the video version on my You Tube channel as always. YouTube.com/gailfoley And there will be more short videos regularly on how as a business your gratitude can give your customers a fabulous customer experience! And I no longer have my website. I will have a new podcast channel format, very soon, but you can still find me where you usually do.
This show is made possible by my many years of being the Hey Card Lady and it has never ever been more important than now to express gratitude to others as well. So I am grateful for having many means to share that with you.
I cannot express in words how awesome it makes me feel to see people are still listening. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Ironically I actually talked about making a small shift on my show in July 2019. Little did I know what a HUGE shift we would have a year later.
My show today is after 2 1/2 months of silence from me. I've been through the anger, the sadness, the hopelessness, the confusion, the anger again, the sleeplessness - and back again!I really was at a loss on what I might be able to say to inspire or enlighten you. I was struggling to have some of my own.
I haven't found a way to do my card business because although a lot of people do it online, I've never been able to do that. For 14 plus years my mode of operations has been in person networking. And the 10 or more networking events I attend each month have all been sidelined. So I still send cards and take care of my existing customers, but that's all.
But I have undertaken the fun of sewing again - and making masks, then to a top or two. This top in the video is hilarious - from the shoulders up I'm likin' it. But beyond that I could fit one of my great grand babies in the front and her big sister in the back and you would never know they were there. Not the right material for the pattern, but what I had.
I also made a HUGE awning for my daughter's outdoor swing. A friend of mine told me I'd bitten off more than I could chew - but I did it!
But then I shifted to think maybe it was time to reconsider becoming a Quilter. However, almost all of those tools are out of stock everywhere. And the genius idea I had of taking a class was met with nope not right now!So the other day when my friend sent me a video about a solution she's found to sleep better I immediately took a look! And then I looked some more! I really truly liked what I saw!
So still the HeyCardLady, but also shifting to learn and play in another world of connections. It's invigorating to find a way to help people that is easy and self-explanatory.
So in lieu of passing on a smile - smile behind your mask and your eyebrows will prove you're smiling :-)Gail

So I am always intrigued by expressions. Where did they originate from and what in the world do they mean?
I think most of us know what the expression 'Let's address the elephant in the room.' means, but what if you were not familiar with the phrase? Wouldn't you be looking around for an elephant?
What about the expression 'on a whim'? What is a 'whim' and why would you anything on one?
So I think you can see where I'm going with this. As I did this show I tripped over a few more in just explaining this little language phenomenon. Wild ones that surprised me and new ones we wish we did not have.
In conclusion I share some of my ideas on how to deal with our 'new norm' and how we might embrace life and others in a different way. All the times you see the expression, 'we're all in this together' may not seem fair to include you in your circumstances. And my prayers go out to you. But we truly are stuck in this situation together.I hope I give you just a glimmer of a smile and a bit of encouragement today. And thank you for always giving me a smile and tons of encouragement when you continue listening to my perceptions.
Passing on a smile, always, to you,
Gail

I'm sending this out to put a smile on your face and a chuckle in your voice. I think we all need to have a few extra ones of those right now.
This is one of my fun adventures that turned into a giggle fest that I cherish and love to share.
I'd love to hear if you can relate to this funny one! I know as I've personally shared this silly moment, many of us have experienced the same moment, just not with the same end results.
I also want to re-iterate what we all need to feel right now - being connected. Are you picking up the phone and saying Hi to someone you've not spoken to in a while or that you feel compelled to check on?
I surprised myself by answering an email from someone I have not had any interest in connecting to in a life time of memories ago. But it felt good to let the past fall away and to include that person who extended prayers to me. Wild - I never thought I would ever do that.
And, of course, I mention the one way that is easier for some people to reach out is to send a card, note, or picture because mail is still being delivered and the virus is not lingering on any of it.
If you don't have any stamps or cards or ways to send your friend or family member a note, just a reminder you can send cards from a free account with my HeyCardLady.com system, just have to fund it for what you want to send. Easy and done for you, just put your words and pictures in it. Or I believe the post office may still be open for stamps - I'd love a picture from my great grand baby who at 3 is quite the artist :-)
I missed getting this done in March because I had to do a do over and than oops, it's April! First time in 6 years I did not do at least one a month - plan on fixing that! I've only done 3 do overs in all these years, but had to be done!
Be safe, stay healthy and we will overcome together.Passing On A Smile and a Virtual Hug,

In this crazy world of ours and I am grateful I got this done in February! People are getting spring fever as they pray for spring fever. And today's show is about just a few things I truly believe need repeating.
If you have kids you will definitely relate to the title. Listen in or watch the video version :-) Watch Here :-)
Hope to start doing 2 a month - so stay tuned and let me know if there is anything you feel bears repeating.

Wow, wow, wow! I cannot believe it's been 6 years since I accidentally launched my show. Originally I called it,
"Gabbin' With Gail
grows YOUR business"
The Gail Foley ShowAnd it was all pink tones and a caricature of me on the site! Until a new author suggested no one would take me seriously.
Listen in to hear about the twists and turns that navigated me to adopting the name I have today!
Crazy how we evolve, but it's the way we grow and stay fresh in what we do. With a bazillion podcasts out there to choose from...THANK YOU for taking time to listen to mine.If you've been with me from the beginning I cannot thank you enough and if you're my newest subscriber, WOW you make my heart zing, too! And I appreciate each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart!!!

I'm really curious about this because they can FLY!!! Wouldn't you fly everywhere if you could??? I'm thinking I would. But then I started to think about it.
You know my perspective is always a bit twisted, but I think if you listen to this show you might get some insight too. Sometimes Mother Nature can give you some great ideas. This is what the geese surprisingly did for me.Going to an event I saw them waiting on the side of the road to cross - half a flock, I swear! So I started pondering :-)
Here's the audio version - video is getting some captions added and then I'll post that on FB, LI and of course on OAC!
I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for listening and maybe sharing a show or two. My plans are to bring you more in 2020 - so stayed tuned as I ramp it up!
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I will see you then!

I'm sure you've heard by now that there are BIG changes coming to FaceBook and Instagram. I was lucky enough to stumble across a webinar by Sammie English with the scoop.
Now I have to admit most of it was over my head, but I believe I got the jest of it. So I hope you listen in to my take on it and would love your comments and insight.
Do you prefer what's coming? Do you think it will make a difference on your activity on social media, increase or decrease your time commitment?
Will you be able to target your niche better to get the interaction that moves you into the news feed more?
See lots of questions? Here is the link to learn from this one expert: www.mafsb.com
Please share this with those you feel might need to know. If you like this Episode I will appreciate it, even if it's just me that sees it :-)

This is a message that has been popping up in front of me for almost a month. A personal situation has pushed me to acknowledging what evidently I need to hear.
The Episode picture is of a card I was given at a 'Brainstorming event' recently. And then I saw a post by my dear friend Lisa Bechtol that really was the pivotal point for me and why it became the title of this Episode.
Because as her quote said, "Forgiving does not make it okay. It simply means you're moving on."
So today, I hope if you are dealing with conflict of the heart this will speak to you or you know someone that needs to hear it.
Thank you so much for listening. It means to the world to me.

Common courtesy is all I'm asking for here! That's what this show is all about. How often are you left waiting and waiting for a return message? Do you wait so long that you turn into a stalker trying to get a response?
Well, I have and I don't like being that person, but I also hate hearing crickets! I mean does it really take so much of someone's time to just answer back. In all my many years of business practice that is the one thing I believed, at one time, was just a given.
In sales, I had to be the consistent itch to my advertisers making sure I got the ad, the new copy, the proof, the payment, etc. Because I was responsible to the publication and wanted a paycheck for all my hard work.
But today, and for the past 14 years I report only to myself. As a network marketer I get a commission when I complete the sale, as in most sales position. However, I don't have to report in to someone else first nor am I responsible for someone else's deadline or bottom line.
But it still stinks when someone cannot take time to answer back. To return the proposal, to call you back. I would much rather be told I am not interested than leave me hanging with a maybe. Or have someone sign up for your service or product and never let you follow through on how to use it. So why sign up?
This has baffled me for a long time, but even more so as the skills of personal communication have been transferred to Social Media posts, likes and group interaction. How about you and me, one on one? All I'm asking for is common courtesy to respond in like. If you were on the tennis court or playing pickleball or any game - would you not feel compelled to return the ball?

I had written down several subjects to talk about today, but I researched my channel and oops, found out I talked on them way too many times already!
So I went through my file of collected ideas. Articles that spoke to me, ideas I had jotted down. And the one article that grabbed me today was featured in the Sunday Morning Parade Magazine on March 15, 2015. March 15th was my parent's anniversary - the Ides of March. I should share that story some time :-)
But today, it's about what this article shared in the power of our words and how they stir memories and bring back our past. Some letters have changed the world. In fact, that was the name of the article "Letters That Changed Our World."
And I speak about it from my own personal perspective that hopefully will help you consider your own viewpoint on the subject.
I've collected and kept cards and letters for years. My mother and I, and now my daughter and I, get excited when we buy an old book and find a letter or note inside. Or even that special inscription written in the book.
It's a practice I've had forever when giving a book as a gift - I always write an inscription. And so many books given to me, have been given with a very special message written inside.
So this topic brought some good and bad memories to me, but I had to share how powerful they were for me. And today I appreciate the difference between that heated email exchange and the softer words written in a note. Have you ever written back in haste and anger and regretted it? How about a letter? Sometimes we cool down and don't send it or just feel relief that you wrote the feelings out?
I'd love to hear what experiences you've had with words, the good, the bad, the ugly. They all shape our worlds, some more profoundly more than others.
Passing On A Smile,
Gail

Let me share with you first why this title!
This quote spoke to me:
"Life is like a ten-speed bike. Most of us have gears we never use." ~ Charles Schultz
And boy do I ever fall into that category! So many gears I do not use. But I also realize it's because I'm not always in alignment with my joy.
Joy shows up when we are in a place that align with our souls, our values, our dreams.
I heard 2 speakers today that brought all this profoundly in front of me and helped me realize my own very recent journey. You may have seen what I've been sharing on Social Media for about 3 weeks! Facebook and LinkedIn
When you're in alignment with what you do life works. Cynthia and I always talk about you have to love what you do to be successful. And so you have to define what success is for you. Is it feeling joy at the end of the day? Feeling of knocking it out of the ballpark? What is it that brings you true satisfied feelings of total accomplishment?
These are the questions I pose to you on this show. I've had many ups and downs since starting this podcast 5 years ago. My passion for what I was doing at the time was waning and I had hoped to reinvigorate it with this show. What I found was an entirely new passion! And ironically, 5 years later the reason I got this started in the first place is finally reinvigorated thanks to a new company!!!
So check out my pages, or simply visit me at HeyCardLady.com
And as always, please share this, someone is needing to find that alignment, maybe this will encourage them. One never knows :-)
Thank you for listening. I appreciate you so very very much.
Passing On A Smile,

Wow! After I finished this one I knew there was so much more that I wished I had said...
My daughter said the title sounded like a soap opera, got me thinking. Maybe I'll do part II. Love to know what you think on that subject!!
What I talk about in this episode is how we're happy in our lives, in the relationships, the job, etc and then someone new comes along. That new 'awful' boss. That new addition to your friend's group that just rubs you wrong. Oooh, you get the picture, I'm sure!
It is never fun to have the dynamics of our lives shifted because of someone or something else suddenly entering into your picture.
I talk about my dynamics being disrupted and how I literally had to move on, for my own sanity. And this subject has come to me because someone who has been absent in my life for a very long time has decided to come back into it.
It's been a peaceful few years, now unfortunately this one person will change my life's dynamics with tension and anxiety. If I allow that.
I can't and I won't, so I share some of my strategies and perspectives on this subject that might shed some light on what you are dealing with. It can literally be life altering as it has been for me. Many have left me heart broken, but I continued to be me and found a way to learn and thrive in spite of it.
So I hope this gives you some coping ideas. And if you can, I'd love for you to share your ventures into the world of disrupted dynamics.
You cannot be in this world without that happening. Hiding and hoping to keep them
at bay are not sufficient to keep them out.Thank you for listening :-)
