  • Talk about a great time of year to see The Mel Brooks Adult Young Frankenstein!

Bellevue Little Theatre is kicking off this sensational fall production with a Costume Party on Friday the 13th (of course!), that ends with wine and cheese that will leave you with an electrically charged great time.

We had a lively discussion with the Director of this production, Todd Uhrmacher, and we discuss the logistics of this complex production for a smaller theatre. The cast is packed full of talent, singers, costumes, tapdancers - the works - and you'll be certain to have an enjoyable experience.

Come join the monster mash of fun that is alive at the Bellevue LIttle Theatre, September 13th through the 29th!

Note: this production is the "adult version" (like the movie) of Young Frankenstein.

  • Clay Farris Naff is a recently accomplished playwright who is debuting his new play The Cleanup Lady. Clay is an author, and has been an award winning journalist, a correspondent for the United Press International in Tokyo, a freelance reporter for National Public Radio, Newsweek, Huffington Post, Earth Magazine, The Humanist, and Scientific American, just to name a few. He has been a science-and-religion correspondent for the Metanexus Institute, and the Executive Director of Lincoln Literacy.

He is a Nebraska gem, and in the last few years has added Playwright to this long list of achievements. Last year he debuted part of his first play which you may have heard about or seen Mix and Machinate which addresses the tribalized nature about what we’ve become, all taking place at a local public radio station. Part of this play debuted last summer at the 2023 First Flight Festival , and the full play went on to be performed at the 2023 Omaha Fringe Festival.

Clay is now debuting his new play, The Cleanup Lady (When AI Strikes You Need the Cleanup Lady), which is about a company that uses an AI machine to invest in other people's money, except all of the guardrails to ensure the money is being invested with honest investors has been removed.

The Cleanup Lady will be performed at the 2024 Omaha Fringe Festival August 9-11th at the Benson Theatre, one of the Omaha Fringe’s four venues.

There will also be a Preview Performance in Lincoln on August 4th at Eastmont Senior Living Center and open to the public.

Join us for this enjoyable conversation with the talented Clay Farris Naff about his new play. You won’t want to miss it!

Actors are expected to pick up the tips and continue on with their lines. These productions are a mixture of theatre and improv, each performance being a different experience with so much crowd interaction.

  • We sat down with Director Todd Brooks, Stage Manager Krista Freimuth, and Actor Adam Fulbright to talk about Chanticleer's upcoming production "A Chorus Line." This is a cohesive cast who are working hard but having the time of their lives, which of course, is everything community theatre should be. This is going to be a fun production, with a live orchestra, much dancing and singing with all the classic "A Chorus Line" tunes and dance moves!

Though "A Chorus LIne" was also adapted into a popular movie in 1985, for most people the story is best told on stage. The original musical was written in 1975 by Marvin Hamlisch, with lyrics by Edward Kleban, and directed by Michael Bennett. It won many Tony Awards, a Drama Desk Award, a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and in 1984 won a Tony for longest running musical on Broadway. (It is currently the 7th longest running musical to date). The "Book" (librettists of the spoken, non-sung dialogue, and storyline of a musical play) was written by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante.

The story is based on true stories and is set on the stage of a Broadway theater, and centered on seventeen Broadway dancers auditioning for roles on a chorus line.

"A Chorus Line" runs May 9-12th and 16-19th at Chanticleer Community Theatre at PACE. This is a great opportunity to see this prize winning musical!

  • We had the distinct pleasure of meeting Thom Davis, Dramaturg and Vice President of the Board of Directors for Voices in Alliance (VIA Omaha). VIA Omaha produced “The Inheritance Part 1” in October 2023 during their first season, and now are able to begin their 2nd Season with “The Inheritance Part 2.”

It's important to note that you can still easily see “The Inheritance Part 2” without seeing "Part 1". We do suggest, however, you hear all about "Part 2" on our podcast before you go, because Thom eloquently explains why this is such an important piece of theatre.

This two-part play was written by Matthew Lopez and won a Tony Award, the Drama Desk Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, a Critics Circle Theatre Award, and an Evening Standard Theatre Award, and a GLAAD Media Award, just to name a few. Needless to say, there has always been a lot of interest and appreciation in what this play means to so many.

”The Inheritance Part 2”opens May 10th and runs 8 performances until May 19th. There will be a talk back session after their Sunday performance on May 12th.

This production is recommended for audiences over 18.
