  • If you've been listening to this show for a while, you’ll be aware that I have taken an unexpected break. Over the past few months, I’ve taken a lot of family time, as well as a lot of travel time for business. So today I wanted to talk you through what I’ve realised during this break from Podcasting for Entrepreneurs, and what we're planning to do going forward.

    What You’ll Learn:

The initial goal of launching Podcasting for EntrepreneursWhat we’ve achieved with this show so farHow my message evolved and what my new show, Positively Influential, is aboutThe next steps you can take if you are serious about podcasting

As entrepreneurs, it's important that from time to time we stop, take stock, evaluate, and course correct if need be. The result of this process for me is that I feel that the work on this show is done for now, and I’m going to focus on my new show. For you to take your podcasting journey on the next level, check out some of the numerous resources below or stay in touch on social media.

  • When you get serious about launching your podcast, you might ask whether you should script your episodes. Today, I'm going to let you into my reasoning behind why I don't believe that it's a good idea.

    What You’ll Learn:

What limitation you impose on yourself if you script out your episodes and how it affects the listenerWhat kind of structure you need to have in order to combat a panic of having a microphone in front of you Why it’s a good idea to bring at least one story to the table in your show

Your podcast can become a very powerful front end of your business. After all, business is personal and we choose to spend money with people that we know, like and trust. What we don't trust is someone who doesn't trust their own words, their own knowledge and ability. Allow yourself to share and be real and honest, because that is what makes a podcast valuable for your listener.

  • Success is relative. With your podcast, it isn’t all about massive download numbers, but much more about how you are engaging and retaining your listeners, and how useful you are making the podcast for your business. So let’s discuss how you can track your podcast success.

    What You’ll Learn:

Why it’s worth paying for access to stats and figures on your podcast hosting platformHow to get an overview of your podcast in charts, so you can make informed decisionsWhy you need to know what your show is doing long term, not only at launch

What we track grows, so if you are not actively looking at the numbers behind your podcast in the same way you are looking at the profit in your business, you probably aren't going to grow. The right level of awareness is key to being able to make knowledgeable decisions.

  • What is polarising content in a podcast and should you do it?

    What You’ll Learn:

The reasons that people choose to do polarising contentWhat you need to think about before you decide to put some polarising content out thereWhy you want to consider the legal situation with the content you're willing to shareHow you might end up breaking your own insurance by putting out polarising content

So is creating polarising content worth it? To gain respect and to have impact, you don't need to say things on a podcast that could get you in trouble and could massively devastate your business. However, if you want to do it, be aware that it is a tactic, so use it carefully and mindfully.

  • While I believe that having a quality microphone when you're podcasting is important, that doesn't always mean you have to be in an office or studio environment. Today, I'm going to run through some things that would improve your recordings on the phone as well as in an on-the-go setting, and still make sure that you have great quality.

What You Will Learn In This Episode:

    - It is never enough to just record straight onto your phone if you're podcasting for business

    - Why you need to have a couple of clip-on microphones in your bag

    - Besides your computer, consider a handheld recorder as an on-the-go option

    - How having a portable microphone stand can help you

If you've done all the hard work to attract listeners, you want to make sure that they stay and that they come back. Think about audio quality first, because a podcast is a powerful vehicle to bring, attract and retain your audience.

  • Trevor Coley, the founder and owner of Sontronics, gets behind the nitty gritty of why the audio quality of your show is super important.

What You Will Learn In This Episode:

    - The most important things early stage podcasters need to know about a quality audio experience

    - The mistakes that people make in sound editing

    - The true mission behind the podcasts and microphones

It's become very easy for people to podcast with the rise of apps, but if the quality isn't good enough, people aren't going to stick around to hear your message. And that feels like a huge waste of time and a huge lack of possibility. Attitude towards quality is key.

  • One of the issues that comes up for my clients, when they come on for a podcast audit, is should they relaunch their show on the same feed and give it a bit of a refresh, or should they start a new show? My intention with this episode is not to give you the answer, but to think about the pros and cons, and potentially the real consequences if you don't get this strategy right.

What You Will Learn In This Episode:

    - Look at the show you’ve hosted from an outsider's perspective

    - How to reassess your initial podcast message

    - What you can read from numbers and statistics of your show

    - What listener experience you should think about

    - Don’t take the old show down from the platforms until your other show is up and running

    - Does your podcast speak now to the people that you're trying to reach?

Podcasting is a vehicle to drive your message to people that you can help with your knowledge and with your expertise, but not if you've switched off from it and if you're no longer reaching the right people.

If you feel like you're ready to recommit to your podcast, get in touch with me on Instagram @annaparkernaples and ask about our audit service by typing the word “audit” in DMs. Alternatively, if you're ready to figure out how to do this for yourself, check out The Podcast Growth Accelerator at www.annapn.co/growth.
