Then I have a volunteer story with Anja Schaefer who’s going to talk to us about her two roles caring for dogs in formal training, and in our puppy block facility on site in Kensington Victoria. On this episode Seeing Eye Dogs Show, Harriet is joined by two guests.
Seeing Eye Dogs handler Lucia Corradi talks about her new partnership with Seeing Eye Dog Luna and their adventures, both accomplished and planned. We also discuss transitioning to a new Seeing Eye Dog, and life for Lucia's newly retired Seeing Eye Dog Aura. The active duo of Lucia and Luna are set to take on Trek for Vision in 2025 so we chat a bit about their prep for that.
Then I’m joined by SED’s advisor of strategy and change Paul Adrian talking to us about some myths about becoming a handler, the New South Wales roadshow event and an update on client services in NSW.
The NSW Roadshow will be held on the week of November 25 across four dates from 10.30am-1pm each day at Vision Australia’s offices at Ashfield on November 25, at Caringbah on the 26th, Epping on the 27th and Parramatta on the 28th. On this episode of the Seeing Eye Dogs Show, Harriet is joined by Cassandra Chiu co-founder and executive director of K9 Assistance in Singapore. Cassandra joined us on the show back in December 2023, almost a year later K9 Assistance has some exciting updates to share on progress in changing legislation in Singapore to grant public access for assistance dogs. We also chat about their ambassador dog, career-changed Seeing Eye Dog Sienna who had an important role in demonstrating the skills of assistance dogs.
At the time of the interview, Cassandra was in Melbourne completing her training with new Seeing Eye Dog Mandy, so we talk about their experiences on class with SED Mandy and the start of their partnership.
To finish off we have an interview with Dr Ashe Mooney sharing some vet tips and information on lumps for dogs. What you might be feeling for, what they might mean and how to work with your vet to diagnose and treat.

On this episode of the Seeing Eye Dogs Show Harriet is joined by two guests for a bit of a special graduation episode. On Wednesday September 18 we celebrated 42 graduated client and Seeing Eye Dogs teams who graduated in the 2023/2024 financial year including three graduates from our Youth Program.
The in-person celebrations took place at Kensington Town Hall, at our Vision Australia Parramatta office in NSW hosted by instructors Luca and Mikaela, and in our Perth office hosted by instructor Matt Wood. We also had graduates attending online.
We're joined by Nemoy Malcolm, graduate with Seeing Eye Dog Benji and Emcee o the event to talk about the graduation event, the speakers and the importance of us celebrating graduation together.
And Jasmine Tevelein is back on the show. Earlier this year, she joined us on the show an ambassador for our International Guide Dog Day Giving day. Now she's graduated with Mikey and has returned to talk to us about the Youth Program and her story and experiences as a handler.

This episode of the Seeing Eye Dogs Show Harriet is joined by breeder and puppy carers Hilary Buchan and Peter Geraerts. In belated recognition of Father’s Day we also wanted to give you some insight into the life of a stud dog at Seeing Eye Dogs and what the life of breeder carers is like. We’re going to introduce you to stud dog Robbie raised and cared for by Hilary and Pete.
In select regions of Victoria, we’re also looking for more people to become breeder carers. It’s the perfect caring option for someone who would prefer to care for an adult dog rather than puppies. Breeder carers care for the dogs in their homes full-time, and transport the dog to the Seeing Eye Dogs kennel facility in Kensington, VIC for breeding activities. We also chat about their lives as part of the carer community, the role of a breeder carer, caring for a puppy and breeder at the same time and what is means to adopt the breeder you’ve cared for after 5 years on Seeing Eye Dogs programs.
To create the next generation of Seeing Eye Dogs, a selection of our best and brightest dogs are chosen to become breeding dogs. These exceptional dogs require a loving home full-time for the duration of their breeding career, returning to the Seeing Eye Dogs kennel facility in Kensington, VIC for breeding activities.
Our male and female breeding dogs need homes from around the age of 12 months and could be in the program for a few months to a number of years, depending on the dog. Seeing Eye Dogs handler Lizzie Eastham joins us on the show talking about her life, story and partnership with Seeing Eye Dog Lacey. Those of you who listen to Studio 1 may be familiar with Lizzie. Today, she's coming on to share her story. Lizzie is one of the ambassadors for the Petbarn Foundation Seeing Eye Dogs Appeal for 2024.
