  • Today on Shut the Front Door we are delighted to be joined by award-winning luxury interior and furniture designer Fiona Barratt-Campbell. Fiona is the Founder and Creative Designer of FBC London and Fiona Barratt Interiors.

    With over eighteen years’ experience leading Fiona Barratt Interiors, having trained at London’s Chelsea College of Art followed by Parsons School of Design in New York, Fiona is sought by clients for her imaginative use of texture, colours and shapes, all interpreted into graceful and timeless designs. Since her very first commission in 2006 – a 12,000 sqft ski chalet in Switzerland, for Richard Branson – her company’s international perspective has been awarded with ambitious projects in UK, Mallorca, Hong Kong, Moscow and Beirut.

    Design has always been in Fiona’s DNA. Her chief mentor and greatest inspiration was her grandfather, property developer Sir Lawrie Barratt, founder of one of the largest residential property development companies in the UK in 1958, Barratt Homes.

  • Today on Shut the Front Door we are overjoyed to be joined by the phenomenal world-renowned designer, Clodagh. Founder and CEO of the company that carries her name, Clodagh has won numerous international awards in her career and was introduced to Interior Design Magazine’s Hall of Fame in 1997.

    Clodagh passionately believes that good design supports well-being and that it can transform people’s lives. The experience of entering a Clodagh designed space is one of blissful serenity. Clodagh’s work has featured across many global publications including The New York Times, Forbes Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

    Her portfolio is a treasure trove of the most amazing designs in hospitality, private residences and spas globally. Clodagh’s work can also be seen in Museum of Modern Art in New York City, where she was invited to design the furniture collection for the Modern terrace.

    Clodagh travels the world for business and inspiration. An advocate for education and well-being, she tirelessly supports organizations fostering education in the developing world, including the Thorn Tree Project, and animal welfare via Ape Action Africa.

    Originally from Co Mayo and currently based in New York City, Clodagh has set the international design world alight with her distinct and recognisable style. Described as a modern design icon, Clodagh was one of the earliest adopters of Feng Shui in her design practice and is once again ahead of the curve with her use of cutting-edge modalities such as chromatherapy and biophilia in her projects.

    Acclaimed designer, author, wife, mother to three sons, and adored grandmother, I am so excited to welcome Clodagh to Shut the Front Door today.

  • Today on Shut the Front Door, we are joined by the talented Bee Osborn, Creative Designer and Founder of Studio Osborn. Bee trained in Inchbald School of Design in London and started working in interior design over two decades ago. In that space of time, Bee has become internationally acclaimed and multi-award-winning for creating beautiful spaces for both private homes and hotels.

    Inspired by repeated requests for decorative items, Bee has also developed her own brand, Osborn Interiors, and sells some of her favourite pieces both online and from her shop.

Charu established Elicyon in 2014, driven by a desire to combine the rigours of her architectural practice with her creative flair and passion for design and craft.

    A registered architect, Charu has worked in the field of architecture and interior design for almost to two decades. Charu and her team at Elicyon are the recent winners of The Design Society International Interior Designer of 2021. Inspired by historical references and cultural details via travels and people, architecture, sculpture and theatre, I am excited to talk all things design to Charu.

  • Today on Shut the Front Door we are delighted to be joined by Mary Lou McDonald TD, Leader of Sinn Féin and TD for the Dublin Central constituency, something she is most proud of. She has a strong reputation for hard work and championing the needs of her constituency both locally and nationally.

    Educated in Trinity College, Dublin, the University of Limerick and Dublin City University she studied English Literature, European Integration Studies and Human Resource Management. She previously worked as a consultant for the Irish Productivity Centre, a researcher for the Institute of European Affairs and a trainer in the trade union sponsored Partnership Unit of the Educational and Training Services Trust.

    Following Micheál Martin's appointment as Taoiseach in June 2020, after the formation of a Fianna Fáil, Green Party and Fine Gael coalition, Mary Lou became the first-ever woman to occupy the position as Leader of the Opposition.

    Last month, Sabina launched her second book, Beating Brain Fog, to rave reviews, and it has just been named as an Irish Times no1 bestseller.

    She is also the creator and host of the Super Brain Podcast where she talks to inspiring individuals about thriving and surviving in life.

    Sabina’s mission is to get everyone looking after their brain health as routinely as they brush their teeth. She has won many awards in recognition of the societal impact of her work and for her contribution to STEM communication. She was listed as one of Image Magazine’s Women of the Year in 2018.

    Sabina is the go-to person for Irish and international media on discussions related to brain health and in particular dementia and ageing.

Luke, one of the world’s most influential scientists, is an immunologist and Chair of the Biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin. Luke has been a leading voice during this pandemic both at home and abroad, sharing immense expert insight and positivity during this difficult time. I think we can all agree that he has been one of the few people that has kept us going over the last 12 months, his interviews always end on a positive note which we all value greatly.

    Luke is also the author of three fantastic books, has a weekly slot on the Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk and has made contributions to many global media outlets during this pandemic, including Sky News, The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal.

The company was founded in 1965 and is still entirely based in Plymouth, from where they have designed, built and delivered over 18,000 yachts to universal acclaim.

    With 15 years’ experience at Princess, Richard has helped lead the team to two World Super Yacht Design Awards as well as numerous international yacht awards. He and his team design interior and exterior spaces, furniture, bars and even bespoke offering from jacuzzis to open-air cinemas. Richard is constantly designing within unique spaces to the highest of standards in this luxury industry. Richard lives in Devon with his wife Alice and their two young children, Arthur and Mabel.

  • This week we are joined on Shut the Front Door by racing legend Barry Geraghty. Hailing from County Meath, Barry retired from a glittering career in horse racing earlier this year. He is the second most successful jockey of all time at the Cheltenham Festival and at the time of his retirement last July, Barry had 1,920 winners under his belt.

    He has recently released his own autobiography called "True Colours". Married to Paula, a nutritionist, and father to Siofra, Orla and Rian it's my pleasure to chat to you today Barry.
