  • Welcome to Episode 1 of SEC Baseball Weekly with Chris Lee, Alfred Ezman, and Graham Doty, an SEC baseball podcast that discusses the biggest storylines in the conference all year long. We'll cover the biggest/trending topics, featuring fun and interesting guest interviews, season predictions, player and team SEC trivia, and a wide range of various unique segments.

Chris, Alfred, and Chase talk about what Texas and Oklahoma baseball joining the SEC means for them and the rest of the conference. A deep dive into the coaching carousel: Texas A&M's Jim Schlossnagle takes the Texas job while the Aggies replace him with Michael Earley. Texas supported Schlossnagle with a hire of hitting coach Troy Tulowitzki. South Carolina was able to draw Paul Maineri out of retirement to become the Gamecocks' new head coach. Vanderbit’s Tim Corbin fires Mike Baxter, Tyler Shewmake, hires Jayson King and Ty Blankmeyer. And Ole Miss’s Mike Bianco fired himself as pitching coach and hired Cleveland’s pitching coordinator, Joel Magnum.

The transfer portal has been mayhem, starting with Ole Miss’s roster getting hit hard. Vanderbilt added Michigan State transfer pitcher Joseph Dzierwa, and a number of good hitters, including James Madison’s Mike Mancini and Dayton’s David Mendez as well as Georgetown pitcher Cody Bowker. Alabama adds LSU C Brady Neal, Miami 1B and more to come. Arkansas adds Ohio State LHP Landon Beidelschies, Zach Root and Kuhio Aloy. Florida adds Blake Cyr and Billy Barlow, but Cade Fisher and Michael Robertson are out. Tennessee’s Robin Villenueve, Bradke Lohry, Derek Schaefer leaving. South Carolina adds Georgia pitcher Jarvis Evans. Tennessee and coach Tony Vitello have lost several players, but expect the Vols to be major players in the portal as always. Auburn and Butch Thompson add a number of players, highlighted by Samford’s Lucas Steele. And what about Texas A&M and Jace LaViolette and the other Aggies' who’ve hit the portal?

  • Tennessee and Texas A&M face off in the College World Series final, and Chris Lee, Graham Doty and Alfred Ezman break it all down with their preview and predictions.

Topics include: - The Vols and the Aggies look like the country’s two best teams. - Tennessee’s lineup did historic things, and had five members (Christian Moore, Kavares Tears, Billy Amick, Blake Burke and Dylan Dreiling) in the 20-home-run club. - But the Vols have hitting depth off the bench, too, with Dalton Bargo and a cast of others giving coach Tony Vitello some mix-and-match options. - Tennessee’s starting pitching comes in on a tear, with Drew Beam’s stuff ticking up a notch in Omaha and Zander Sechrist having shown rock-solid consistency of late. - The Vols' bullpen of AJ Causey, Nate Snead, Kirby Connell, Dylan Loy, Marcus Phillips, Andrew Behnke and JJ Garcia has also been elite. - The Aggies have battled season-ending injuries to All-American Braden Montgomery and bullpen ace-turned-starter Shane Sdao, and in spite of that, have gone unbeaten in the NCAA tournament. - However, an injury to outfielder Jace LaViolette has the Aggies further hobbled, even though LaViolette played through a hamstring injury on Wednesday. - Texas A&M starting pitchers Justin Lamkin and Ryan Prager have been at the top of their games in Omaha. - The Aggie bullpen, led by Evan Ashenbeck, Chris Cortez, Josh Stewart, Brock Peery and Brad Rudis is one of the country’s best.

  • Chris Lee and Alfred Ezman talk about the Florida-Texas A&M matchup in the College World Series. Highlights include: Texas A&M’s Kaeden Kent got an opportunity to shine with Braden Montgomery’s injury and did so, getting perhaps the two biggest hits of the Aggies' season in the super regional vs. Oregon. That illustrates a lot about a deep lineup that includes Jace LaViolette, Ted Burton, Gavin Grahovac, Jackson Appel and others. The Aggies survived last week with a bad start by Ryan Prager, and now suffered a season-ending injury to Shane Sdao. But Chris Cortez and Evan Aschenbeck headline what remains a deep Aggie pitching staff. Meanwhile, Florida has ridden Brandon Neely and Jac Caglianone on the mound to get this far. The numbers weren’t always pretty with Gator pitching, but the run through Stillwater and Clemson remind us that the Gators still have plenty of young talent on the mound. Florida has one of the top home-run hitting teams as Brody Donay, Luke Heyman, Colby Shelton and others have stepped up to supplement Caglianone’s power. All this, plus a prediction.

  • Chris Lee and Alfred Ezman discuss Kentucky’s run to its first College World Series as well as its first game vs. North Carolina State. Topics include: The Wildcats offense had it all--power with Ryan Waldschmidt and Ryan Nicholson, base-stealing prowess with Emilien Pitre, Devin Burkes and Waldschmidt, and general balance throughout the lineup. Kentucky’s pitching was at its best in the NCAA tournament, with Mason Moore getting on track, Cameron O’Brien dominating out of the bullpen and Trey Pooser being his usual consistent self. But Elliott Avent’s North Carolina State team will present a stiff challenge. The Wolfpack have power with Alec Makarewicz, Garrett Pennington and Jacob Mozart as well as base-stealing prowess in Brandon Butterworth and Luke Nixon. NC State’s top-end pitching carried it into Omaha, with Jacob Dudan, Sam Highfill and Dominic Britton helping get the 'Pack this far. All that, and a prediction of how far Kentucky will go.
