First up, Michael and Dan recap the Dublin Marathon and Valencia Half and then in part 2 we have a special interview with Caitlyn after she once again rewrote her marathon PB in Dublin by posting a brilliant 2:42. Caitlyn talks to us about how she trained for it, what it was like to experience the race as an elite entry and how it all unfolded on the day! Not an episode to be missed! The masterminds behind Tafelta AC, Cathaoir and Francis Purvis join us from Mid-Ulster/Font Romeu for episode 27 of the Back Straight! It was race week for Dan and in this episode we do a before and after his 108-mile epic around the Mont Blanc massif. Spoiler alert, he survives, but at what cost? This episode starts with the coming together of some brilliant minds to talk race results from the Omagh Half Marathon, Irish Unis track meet, Larne 10 mile and the Manchester Marathon! The mysteries of olympic qualification and staying on your feet at the end of a track race are discussed and we hear how Conor went in Poland at the European Masters. The focus then turns to the North Belfast Harriers Afternoon of 5000s event which is happening on Saturday 20th of April. John and Conor run us through the event and the movers and shakers for this year! The decision was made that all bets are off and the results will be very interesting indeed. It has been an epic couple of weeks in the local and international running scene! As usual, Michael and Dan chat about some local results including the Coleraine 5k and Whitehead 5 mile which takes place annually around Easter. From there the conversation moves on to the World Cross Country Championships and the mysteriously epic Barkley Marathons which saw its first female finisher. To round out the episode Michael and Dan chat to James and Ruth McIlroy about the first edition of a new and speedy road race coming to Belfast, the Belfast 5km and mile. This event takes place on the 9th of June and is already attracting alot of attention and big international names including Joshua Cheptegei.
