  • Hey, lovely! In this episode, I’m sharing all about my whirlwind trip to Broome, where I spent two incredible days with Jemma and Tash from The Broome Florist at the end of November. These two are gearing up for their first wedding season, and I had the absolute joy of helping them build their skills, plan their logistics, and create stunning marketing content with a gorgeous photoshoot on the beach (yes, it was as magical as it sounds!).

We covered everything from bouquet-making (Tash went from dreading bouquets to absolutely loving them!) to navigating the unique challenges of running a floral business in a regional area. Having grown up in the Northern Territory and North West WA, this trip brought back so many memories and gave me a fresh perspective on just how far I’ve come in my business landing at a completely auspicious time.

This episode is a celebration of growth, mindset shifts, and what’s possible when you step outside your comfort zone. Whether you’re one year or five years into your business journey, I want you to know how much can change when you open yourself up to new opportunities.

If you’re ready to make 2025 your year, I’d absolutely love to support you. Check out my Bloom-Print Membership for group coaching, self-paced lessons, and monthly mastermind sessions. • Last week I just took myself for a 2 night hotel stay … by myself! I know, What a bloody boujie b*tch!

2 weeks ago I was starting to lose it a bit with the kids, my husband Mark was away for work, my 2 year old was going through a developmental leap and waking 3 times a night, my daughter was really pushing the boundaries, probably because she wanted my attention and work was non-stop. And there were a few unforeseen problems I needed to solve that were taking a bit of my attention.

A fortnight ago I felt tired and cranky and scattered and foggy and like I was going through the motions and as you might have guessed from the title of this episode – I don’t feel like that anymore because – controversially – I took a break in the middle of peak season.

In this episode I'm sharing the importance of making space for yourself, gaining clarity and rest to put your best self forward in all aspects of your life.

  • If you second guess your pricing, constantly reduce it because you feel like you're charging too much, or change the pricing when your client cries 'it's too expensive, can you do it for less?' or simply - have no idea what to charge and are just guessing - then this episode is for you!

Your pricing should not be based on how YOU feel. It should be based on the industry minimum standard and what the general expected pricing is in your city, region, area.

We all want to be able to best service our clients - so let's focus on what we can do for our clients rather than what we cant - without compromising our profit margins.

In this episode, I'm sharing advise on how to price, what to consider, what not to compromise on and WHY your pricing should be a MINIMUM of product x 3.

She helps clients elevate their business success and amplify their impact by integrating their innate strengths and gifts. • I used to tell myself ‘I wasn’t built for running’ I used to joke about it infact. I’m 5 foot in heels and a stocky little thing. I wasn’t athletic growing up and I didn’t really do sports as an extra curricular.

Last weekend I ran my first half marathon, at the age of 38, I decided if not now, then when and also – why not? Why couldn’t I. At the beginning of this year when I started training, I couldn't run 3km and last weekend, I ran 21km with 5000 other West Aussies. And man it has taught me so much and been the best self development journey and challenge.

In this episode I'm sharing with you my running journey and the key 9 things I've learnt - about running, life and business - from training for a half marathon.

So tune in and let's get physical!

  • In this episode I'm joined by my industry friend Kiera Treloar.
Kiera is the founder of Little Things Events a bespoke full service wedding and event planning company here in Perth. She has worked in the events industry for almost 15 years in both Perth + Sydney and started Little Things Events in 2020 to focus on the types of events she’s most passionate about – the heart-centred moments and core memories you want to tell your grandkids about.

She is renowned for wowing her clients by going above and beyond, and unmistakably for the solid relationships she has made within the industry – and she’s an absolute delight to work with!

Kiera, like me, is also super passionate about industry education and she's also recently founded The Wedding Educators with another awesome industry friend Natalie Gasmier. The Wedding Educators is a space for wedding coordinators to upskill and learn all the tips and tricks of the trade along with best practise advise and processes to ensure success in this industry.

In this interview we talk about starting a business after having a baby, the definition of success, what a great day on the job looks like and the kind of teamwork that really makes the dream work.

Tune in to hear all about her journey in the events industry and so much more.

  • Last week one of my clients asked me 'El, do you really think I can do this, like should I really be doing this?' and it's not the first time I've been asked that question or had a conversation about whether you're too old or it's too late to be getting into something new - and it wasn't even the first time that week I'd had that conversation. This sort of thing comes up alot with my mentoring clients, and in my Instagram DMs and with my floral students.

So in this episode I'm shifting your thinking about being too old, or it being too late or being ill equipped because IF NOT NOW... THEN WHEN?

Life is a pretty long journey and if you wanted to you could pick a different career every decade and still have 5 or 6 pretty amazing careers in your life. And spoiler alert - you are not too old and it is NOT too late!

So if you're needing a little pick me up, a little spark into action, a bit of self-belief - allow this to be it - tune in, because this is the podcast for you!

  • Has it ever occur to you that you're choosing the client as much as they're choosing you?

Pre-Qualifying your clients to ensure that they are the right clients for your business is so important and the earlier you can do that in the process, the less time you'll waste on a client who isn't your ideal.

In this week's episode I'm sharing the 3 ways I pre-qualify my clients at the very beginning of my wedding process to weed out the time wasters and get excited about my clients.

  • In Part 2 of my conversation with Alisha Erin from Bohemian Flowers we talk about freelancing, the importance of freelancers and what we look for and expect of freelancers vs the difference between freelancers and work experience, we talk about the evolution of style and what you learn from working with other florists.
We talk about success, the moments that blew her mind in business, the moments she maybe wanted to pack it in #COVID *facepalm* and her BIGGEST advice for new florists including a good tool belt. "A florist is only as good as her toolbox and her toolbelt."

Alisha Erin has been in the floral industry for 15 years starting her floristry journey when she was still in high school and took on a work placement in a local florist. From there her artistic prowess took hold, her creativity broadened and her boldness absolutely flourished as she grew her experience in the retail field before taking the plunge into her own business souly focussed on weddings and events.

She works from her home studio in Perth along side raising her two beautiful little children, living her dream work/life dynamic.

  • My my are you in for a treat! Over the next 2 episodes get comfy and immerse yourself in the beautiful and bohemian world of Alisha Erin from Bohemian Flower.

Alisha started her floristry journey when she was still in high school and took on a work placement in a local florist. From there her artistic prowess took hold, her creativity broadened and her boldness absolutely flourished as she grew her experience in the retail field before taking the plunge into her own business souly focussed on weddings and events.

Alisha was one of the first florists I ever freelanced with when I first started out and her kindness and generosity with her knowledge almost took me by surprise. She's a true treasure and an absolute powerhouse on the Perth wedding floral scene.

Over the years we've back and forth freelanced for each other, both had babies around similar times and grown in many beautiful ways. We operate our businesses in very different ways and I adore the way Alisha has set hers up to work around her family.

  • Hello my loves - today, we're talking about coaching. I recently saw a post in a wedding and event suppliers Facebook group that said and I quote: “who has a business coach and do you find it’s worth it? How much do you pay? Are you seeing amazing (not just good) results?”

Now I found some of the comments really interesting on this post and I also gave my input and I thought it would be worth sharing some of that insight with you as well. Because I get it - investing in anything is a risk - and sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn’t - but the key is being sure you’re always investing in your own growth as a small business owner.

I’ve also had a few questions lately since we launched the Bloom-Print membership - mostly of people wanting to know whether that’s the right fit for them or whether 1:1 mentoring would suit better. And my first piece of advice is to work out what your goals are - what you’re wanting to work towards and what level of support you need to get there. Honestly one of the best things you can do at this stage is a SWOT analysis - Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

So in this episode I’m going to do is break down this question for you in a few parts with a bit more detail because I know you deserve it.

  • Hello my loves welcome back to The Bloom-Print Podcast.

I have had a lot of conversations lately about 'freebies' – about when to do them, what should be considered a freebie and how valuable or not doing freebies can be.

So in this episode I want to share a couple of these instances with you and my views on this based on the experiences I’ve had and where I’ve got it right and wrong.

We're talking collaborations, photoshoots and offering discounted rates or free product/service.

Now, I am actually a big fan of collaborations. I’ve done a lot of them over the years between expos and styled shoots where I’ve collaborated with a group of vendors to bring a complete product or vision to life that benefits all the vendors in displaying work they want to do more of. The key is making sure you’re aligned with the vendors, that you are a part of the planning and that you’re showing work that fits your style that you want to get more of. If you’re just showing the same work you do all the time – chances are you already have imagery or content of that – styled shoots and expos are your opportunity to display and gain more of the kind of work you want to do in the future. But you don’t have to say yes, just because someone asks you. Find out who the vendor team is, get a moodboard or inspo images of the style, work out what the cost of your contribution actually is.

Freebies - can be a bit of a different story.

  • Hello my loves welcome back to The Bloom-Print Podcast.

This month we are celebrating 8 years in the floristry business – 8 years! I’ve been reminiscing a lot over the last few weeks and thinking about how far I’ve come and how far the business has come over the past 8 years and if I’m honest, it’s the past 2 years that the most exponential growth has happened for me. So if you’re in the first few years of your business at the moment and everything still feels confusing – I promise, it gets better, the stuff you’re going through now gets easier and on the horizon are a whole lot more challenges and exciting opportunities.

So it’s been 8 years – 8 crazy and wonderful years. The best 8 years of my life! So today I thought I’d share with you my 8 rules to biz by that I’ve learnt over the last 8 years. Yep, I’m not sorry, I love me a bit of a word play tie in so it’s 8 rules for 8 years. Now let me preface this episode by saying, these rules were not made or executed in order.

Get yourself a pen and paper, you might want to jot these 8 rules down.

  • Hello my loves welcome back to The Bloom-Print Podcast – how actually are you?

In today's episode we're reliving all of the beauty that was the Wedding Flowers Weekender Retreat: how awesome the weekend was, what we did, how it was structured, and how incredible the group of humans was that participated in the retreat.

I have first hand experience of the power of retreat style training where you can immerse yourself in something without the external factors, without having to go home each night to the daily grind, without having to do pick ups and dinner and organise everything in your life around training. When you go on a retreat, you’re able to really be present, to absorb the content and to give 100% of your focus to your business or the training pursuit.

I think it’s so important, for women particularly, that they do take this time out, that they do give themselves opportunities for growth in themselves and their passions because I think it’s a typical trait (and societal expectation) that women put everyone else before them and often it can be to our own or our business’s detriment because we spend time doing the things in our homes or for our families we feel we ‘should’ be doing instead of the tasks in our business that are waiting that might actually propel it forward or make us money because #familycomesfirst. I’m not saying that family doesn’t come first, mine are at the forefront of everything I do, AND I really love what I do and want to do it instead of getting my kids snacks every 10 minutes for sure.

This retreat was a mix of luxury floral design, business advice and planning, networking and connection, relaxation and breathing out, garnished with hearty meals and beautiful conversation.

It truly was a magical experience and I can't wait to do the next one! If you can't wait to join us - email me at [email protected] with the subject 'Retreat waitlist' and I'll put you on the waitlist to be the first to know when the new date and deets are released.

Enjoy this episode! And if you're loving the podcast, we'd love it if you could leave us a 5 star review!
