About Mackenzie Ostrowski
MacKenzie Ostrowski is a recent graduate form Ontario Tech University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with a dual minor in Forensic Psychology and Entrepreneurship. She has had multiple clinical experiences during her education through emergency medicine, surgery, mental health, complex continuing care, online simulations, and aided in a software launch for charting system Epic.
Prior to obtaining her degrees she volunteered at her local hospital for over 5 years which provided her with the Ontario Volunteer Service Youth Award issued by the province of Ontario, and multiple scholarships. During her education MacKenzie demonstrated leadership through her involvement in her university’s nursing club as co-president and was a board member for the Undergraduate Nursing Program Committee as a student advocate.
As a newly Registered Nurse, MacKenzie has already completed her Advanced Cardiovascular Life support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificates and is currently working towards her Coronary Care 1 Certificate to work in the emergency department. MacKenzie is a first-generation post- secondary graduate, who is strongly motivated and passionate about continuing education, individual empowerment, travelling, and caring for others.

Monique Harding is a mental health educator with 17 years of nursing experience. Originally from Toronto, ON, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at York University and Master of Nursing degree at Western University. Monique has worked extensively in the mental health field and started her career working in a psychiatric emergency service of a busy, downtown emergency department. Leading up to her role as a nurse educator, Monique has also worked on Mobile Crisis Intervention Teams in partnership with the Toronto Police Service, as well as the College of Physicians and Surgeons as a clinical investigator. Currently, her nurse educator role includes overseeing the education and onboarding of new nursing graduates and internal transfers into the mental health program of a tertiary care hospital.

National Reflexology Day was started by the Reflexology Association of Canada to raise awareness around the benefits and accessibility of Reflexology in Canada. In celebration of Nurse’s Appreciation Week, Robyn Roots wrote and directed her award-winning documentary, 2020 Year of the Nurse, during the Covid-19 pandemic. This project focused on people of colour in the medical profession sharing their experience during Covid-19 and the impact of racism in the field. Mrs. Robyn Roots has been interviewed on over 35 platforms speaking about her journey from nursing to film. Mrs. Roots believes in using media to have courageous, straightforward conversations that are necessary today. She also wrote a song, 2020 Year of the Nurse to honour nurses and people affected by Covid. The song has been awarded and nominated for best song at film festivals. She also wrote a book, 2020 Year of the Nurse: Our love affair with Nursing which shared their love of nursing and the challenges they face.
