  • In 1997, Tiffany Coates decided to embark on an overland adventure to India with her best friend. They wanted to do it on a motorcycle, but neither of them had licenses or even knew how to ride. So they learnt. Equipped with a Haynes Manual and fearless ambition, they set off on a BMW R 80 GS named ‘Thelma’ – which they bought over the phone and unseen.

Bonkers and brave, their spontaneous adventure took them further than they had ever anticipated and Tiffany has never looked back. From Tibet to Madagascar, Africa, Borneo and Alaska, home is where ‘Thelma’ is parked and Tiffany can pitch a tent. A global adventurer with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock, Tiffany is passionate about inspiring others to explore the world on two wheels.

On this week's Driven Podcast, Tiffany Coates shares some of her incredible stories with Charlotte Vowden and John Marcar, and offers tips on how to travel solo in remote places.

  • This week’s episode of The Driven Podcast takes you far from the warm confines of a studio and puts you
in a warm desert to hear the sounds of the Dakar Rally. You’ve likely heard of the Dakar, but you actually heard it? As well as being there to hear the cars thunder by, we get inside the Ford team to learn about the top tier T1 Raptor.

Alex Goy ventured out into the sands to see what’s what in all things Dakar. From discovering the perfect way to tackle the rally (it’s a bit gross but WOULD work), hearing what a T1 truck sounds like at full pelt, to sitting down with the Ford M-Sport team to learn how to peel a Rally Raid truck apart, and what it’s like to drive, it’s quite the adventure. Guests this week include Driver Mitch Guthrie Jnr, off-road programme manager - Mike Norton, Chief Engineer Jon Sprackling and team principle Mathew Wilson.

You’ll hear tales of derring do, some rather fine motor vehicle noises, and learn first hand what it’s like to tackle the toughest race on earth. Think you know Dakar? You will after this

  • This week, on The Driven Podcast, we're joined by the wonderful Alex Brundle. Alex is a much loved and very familiar voice to the world of motorsport thanks to his profession as a commentator for single-seater and endurance racing.

When not in the commentary box, Alex is likely to be found behind the wheel as a professional racing driver. His racing career has seen him on the Le Mans 24-hour podium twice, along with multiple World Endurance Championship race victories and the 2016 European Le Mans Series Championship to his name. In 2024 alone, Alex was driving everything from brand new endurance racing cars at the Nurburgring 24 hours to classic racing cars at the Goodwood Members Meeting and Revival meeting.

In this casual chat with John Marcar and Charlotte Vowden, Alex shares the ins and outs of his career and reveals how (legal!) mushrooms keep him focused for certain jobs!

  • This week, on The Driven Podcast, we meet two influential people at one of the most prolific British car brands, MG and record the first-ever official podcast interview with the MG brand.

Guy Pigounakis is the commercial director of MG UK, and he has an incredible story of how he first joined the brand as a rebellious teenager by knocking on the factory doors at Longbridge in the 1970s - a bold move which undoubtedly led to him sitting in the top seat today. David Allison is head of Product and Planning for MG and stems from a 25-year career in the automotive sector where he's selling everything from cars to vans before transitioning into the driving force of product planning for multiple OEMs. David is now responsible for signing off on all new MGs that are selling globally.

In this unique and exclusive podcast, recorded in the London HQ of MG Motor UK, John Marcar and Charlotte Vowden sit with Guy and David to work through their individual careers' with many highs, and some challenges too and learn more about MG in the new age under its new Chinese ownership.

  • This week's episode of The Driven Podcast will likely sit in our podcast hall of fame and favourites for quite some time. Jake Hill had British Touring Car fans on the edge of their seats throughout the 2024 season right up to the season's final round at Brands Hatch, where he clinched the championship title for the first time.

John Marcar and Miles Lacey sat with Jake at his home in Kent to hear the story of his journey to that iconic championship win, but there was also a crucial 4th voice on the recording. The fourth voice on this week's episode is Simon Hill (Jake's Dad). Simon, a professional racing driver turned commentator, is an integral factor in Jake's motorsport career and success, with some frankly inspired stories and anecdotes from his own career and the early stages of Jake's.

Expect amazing stories, hilarious memories, and frankly touching conversations between Jake and Simon - as a result; please be warned that this episode contains strong language and adult humour.

  • 2024 has been a busy year for 'team Driven', and for the first time this year (and ever), all the podcast hosts are in the same room at the same time!

On this week's episode of The Driven Podcast, John Marcar, Amy Heynes, Charlotte Vowden, Miles Lacey, and Alex Goy are all together to discuss the top news stories of the year according to driven.site and share their personal automotive highlights of the past 12 months.

Expect spontaneous (sometimes nonsensical*) chatter about synthetic fuels, the (apparent) demise of EV demand, the end of Clarkson, Hammond and May and, of course, the big internet storm in the shape of a jaGuar logo.

    *forgive us, it's Christmas.

  • In the early 1990s, a car designer and university lecturer, Simon Saunders, purchased an automotive vehicle manufacturer historically famous for making everything from push bikes to motorcars since 1871.

The company was Ariel, and following a pause in manufacturing since 1971, under Saunders' new ownership, the brand was to reappear in 1996 along with one of the most revolutionary and celebrated sports cars in recent history, the Ariel Atom.

In this week's episode of The Driven Podcast, we travel to the modern-day home of Ariel in Somerset to meet with Simon Saunders and his son Henry Siebert-Saunders to learn about the company - from the reveal of the first new-era car - right up to the modern day.

  • Enjoy a bonus episode of The Driven Podcast from the GTI Fan Festival in Wolfsburg, Germany. In this two-part 'design special,' John Marcar sits down with two iconic car designers. First up is Khyzyl Saleem, a concept artist who has found fame by showing off his work on Instagram @the_kyza while designing for the likes of EA Games, TWR, Fuze Studios, and more.

In the first half of the episode, John and Khyzyl explore the story of 'The Kyza' from his humble beginnings—cutting out paper cars from magazines—to his current status as one of the most influential concept artists in the world.

In the second half of the podcast, Khyzyl takes on the co-host role, joining John to interview Volkswagen's head of design, Andreas Mindt. Andreas has designed for Bentley, Porsche, Audi, and VW, and in the episode, he works through his fantastic story, following in his father's footsteps, who designed for VW in the 1970s.

Expect more from Khyzyl in the near future in an additional podcast in which we'll complete his story and bring more content from his latest venture, Fuze Studios.

  • It's the last episode of Season 1, and the team has been very busy driving on all sides of the globe. Amy has been battling the mean streets of Greece in a Porsche 911. Miles has been battling the mean streets of Australia in a Porsche 911, and John has been battling the mean streets of Italy in a... Fiat Panda

In addition to the very unbalanced driving comparisons, John has once again fallen in love with our Land Rover Defender thanks to some steel wheels and Falken Tyres and is trying to work out what on earth to do with a Ducati Multistrada V4S this week.

Amy has been enjoying the Monaco Historic GP, Driving Porsches in Greece, Photographing an RS Williams Aston Martin and visiting the Bike Shed Show in London.

Miles has been Racing Pragas in Australia, enjoying a Singer DLS, and experiencing (in his own words) pure concentrated pain while working on his BMW 330D.

Also, there's breaking news regarding THE Volvo. Oh yeah, and one more thing... Amy's pregnant.

Steve Soper is this week's guest alongside ex-business partner turned co-racing driver Toby Partridge to discuss the return and rebirth of such a special car. Steve, Toby, and John Marcar discuss the story behind the car, the iconic race that Steve won in 1992, and the plans for the car moving forward.

This podcast is released alongside a video available to watch on our youtube channel very soon.

  • This week, on the Driven Podcast, John Marcar and Miles Lacey visit CALLUM in Warwick and meet car design royalty Ian Callum CBE and Aleck Jones.

Ian Callum is likely to be a name that needs no introduction thanks to his frankly marvellous portfolio of car designs, including the Ford Puma, Aston Martin DB7, Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar F-Type, Jaguar iPace, and the Nissan R390 Le Mans Car (to mention just a tiny handful!).

Aleck Jones is the head of design for CALLUM working directly with Ian. Aleck comes from a strong design background, which has seen him involved in various products from Jaguar cars, Triumph motorcycles and Land Rover, including the new (L663) Defender.

Ian, Aleck, Miles and John discuss the CALLUM business and work through the many products, projects and creations that are now finding their way onto driveways, roads and inside houses, too.
