If you haven't already noticed, fascia has become a buzzword in the beauty industry. Creams, oils, and tools are on the market. Some may be of real help while others may be just capitalizing on the unrealistic beauty expectations places on women of all ages. Don't get me started. If you are a provider who spends repeated sessions with clients, they begin to confide in us and trust us to answer their questions. I had a client ask a question about a product she saw and I'm very glad she asked.
Put yourself on our waitlist for the fascia science class. We hope to open again in November. Click here.

I couldn't love what I do more. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to help others with the skills I've developed over the years. In this edition of the podcast, I share how my OT skills are what helped my clients the most this week. I discuss a very unique workshop we had this week and how we combine mental and physical health via the fascia. Finally, a tidbit on some big news!
I do mention my friend and colleague I teach the workshop with and that I would include her info here: Lisa M. Basile MA LMHP.
Thanks for listening!

I just finished a book that was a wonderful balance of fascia science and "how to". In this episode touch on how we are traditionally trained to treat scars, where the science of fascia is guiding us and my own experience with treating scars both before and after reading this book. I am providing a link to the book and other books I recommend here: Book Resources - The Fascia-Informed Therapist ™ (fasciainformed.com)

In this episode I share how the conference in Colorado went. It was amazing! Colorado runs a great conference, and this was their best turn out ever! We had two hours to discuss posture, and I think we opened some minds. I also share that we were waitlisted for the AOTA conference in 2025. I'm bummed but it's ok. We'll keep plugging away at getting the science of fascia into the hands of OT practitioners and others who are open! Take a course and keep listening! I think the opportunity to be creative in our profession is one of the aspects that makes me LOVE being an OT. My practice has really expanded my opportunity to meet so many new people and widen my circle of influence. I love this so much.
I hope you consider widening your circle of influence by adding ME! Well... fascia science. I think it will influence your opportunity for creativity in your role as an OTP.

If you are listening to our podcast, you definitely have attributes of a critical thinker. Critical thinkers are curious and open-minded learners. In the world of occupational therapy, we know how unique each individual in front of us is even though we may have seen their diagnosis 100 times so protocols are not often helpful. Rather, we critically think through their individual needs. Fascia science adds an entirely new layer to our ability to critically think through the problems our clients face. Today I went to give a talk to the public about fascia. I use a simple framework that I can condense or expand depending on the situation and the time I have available. I use a similar framework when I am talking to potential referral sources. Have you been asked to speak about fascia? Here's my framework... Resources - The Fascia-Informed Therapist ™ (fasciainformed.com). My friend who invited me to speak said her group really enjoyed it and said they learned a lot! You are welcome to use my framework as it is or use it to think about creating your own framework. Hint: It helps to get very familiar with the science. Take the course!

After teaching a fascia science and myofascial self-treatment workshop to a group of future occupational therapists, I was thrilled with the innovative ideas they can up with to apply the skills. I was so excited with one answer that I had to hug this future OT. The response also got me interested in what the science had to say about this topic.

To her, the pain came from nowhere and kept getting worse. Fascia science helped them understand where it was likely coming from and what they could do next. Spoiler alert... she walked out feeling much better and has a plan to keep the healing going.
