SDCC is the greatest spectacle in comics fandom. The Felix Comic Art Podcast is...a podcast about original comic art. But we're at SDCC! And we're bringing you a new episode! First up is Jim Halperin, co-founder and co-chairman of Heritage Auctions. It's his third time with us, and as before, he answers every question. He shies away from nothing. Pretty damn impressive for the most important man in the comic art market! Thanks, Jim! But there's more! We also bring back past favorite guests for an impromptu chat about oddball art we're all hoping to find. All tips on locating anything we talk about is welcome and appreciated! Finally, DWJ just won Eisner Awards for Best Writer/Artist and Best Series for TRANSFORMERS. Arguably the two biggest Eisners a series can win...for a toy comic. Only DWJ. We had a comprehensive panel last month, and you'll get to hear it here. Congrats, Dan! A three-parter! Enjoy!

The Felix Comic Art Podcast proudly welcomes the Prince of All Media to the show...it's David Choe! This was one of the most fun chats we've ever done. Thanks to Dave for inviting us to his studio and opening up about comic art like never before! Check out his companion Show-and-Tell video on YouTube: As you can see, Dave has GREAT taste! Enjoy!

We're back! Thank you all for your patience during our break. But I believe with my latest guest, Ken Viola, that the wait was worth it. What drives this podcast more than anything are the collector stories. Having been a collector since the 1950s, it's safe to say that Ken has witnessed and experienced more than most in this hobby. Not many can say they were friends with Steve Ditko, or got to hang Frank Frazetta's Egyptian Queen painting in their parents' home, or can lay claim to being the OG Alan Moore art collector. Or produce a documentary featuring Will Eisner, Frank Miller, Moebius, Neal Adams, Bernie Wrightson, and other comics legends. And that's just scratching the surface. We're going to bring Ken back down the road for part two...for now, enjoy your intro to Ken Viola!

"If you buy one or two nice pieces a year, in 20 years you'll have a great collection." Words of wisdom from our esteemed guest, Richard Martines. A collector of over 40 years, listen in as Richard shares his experiences and insights from our crazy hobby. Listen and learn! Part two is my appearance on the Pixels and Panels Podcast. Not quite Richard-level, but hey, we needed to fill out this episode! Two hours of non-stop comic art talk, enjoy!

At San Diego Comic-Con 2017, we managed to secure a chat with the most influential figure in our hobby: Jim Halperin of Heritage Auctions. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022...he returns. And he saved a blockbuster scoop just for the occasion. We follow up our talk with Jim with a round table breaking it all down. Joining me are veteran panelists Andy Robbins and Yo Kuri. It's two straight hours of pure comic art conversations, like you'll get nowhere else. Enjoy!

The original art cover for Frank Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS #1 has just sold at auction for 2.4 million dollars...and who better to talk to us about it than the King of DKR art collectors, David Mandel. Hear Dave's take on the art, the auction, and what it all means for the OA hobby at large. As usual, Dave doesn't hold back! To the point where we may be asked to take this down. It's happened before. So listen while you can! That's all in the first hour. As a bonus we've also included two recent podcasts from our friends Christian Monggaard and Casey Lau. Their guest? It's Dave again! So if you just can't get enough Dave, we've got FOUR more hours for you! Thanks to Christian and Casey for letting us share their shows! It's DKR. It's Dave Mandel. Enjoy!

Two weeks on, and the record sale at auction is still what everyone's talking about. So The Felix Comic Art Podcast returns with Chuck Costas, THE hobby expert on SECRET WARS and G.I. JOE. And also personal friend of artist Mike Zeck. Chuck shares his insights on what went down exclusively here. Thanks Chuck! Part two is an episode of The Hyper Room, hosted by tech guru Casey Lau. Casey grills me on the hobby, the market, collecting, and all things original comic art. Thanks to Casey for allowing us to share it with our audience here. An extra-long episode this time out, enjoy!

Our first episode of 2022 features show regular Gene Park and a discussion centered around that beloved '80s fan-favorite, G.I. JOE #21! The reason? Because Gene owns the complete interiors...and the cover has just now hit auction! We talk to Gene before and after the big event. And the auction is even bigger than we had anticipated...besides the huge sale of the G.I. JOE #21 cover, it also featured an absolute jaw-dropper: The record-setting $3.36 million sale of a single comic panel page. Of course, we had to talk about that, too! We close out this episode with a chat I had with Danish author/film critic, Christian Monggaard (ROBERT CRUMB: I CAN'T DO PRETTY), on his podcast. We talk about all things comic art. Thanks to Christian for allowing me to share this with our audience! Enjoy the show!

Our roundtable episodes are some of our most popular, so welcome back Gene Park and Andy Robbins along with new guest Yo Kuri! We got together to talk about NYCC, the first major convention since the pandemic. But, as usual, it ends up being a deeper dive into the hobby. Hear about recent auctions, the MIRACLEMAN #1 cover recreation hubbub, the emergence of a new class of collectors, and more! Thanks as always for listening, enjoy!

Many years ago, I predicted Dinesh Shamdasani would make an impact in the comic art hobby. It took longer than I expected, but the impact has also been far greater. Hear his story now, how he became the "first appearance" guy...and what really went down with the ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 cover. All that and more on the latest episode of The Felix Comic Art Podcast! Thanks, Dinesh!

I told you the schedule would be sporadic...only this time, you didn't have to wait months for a fix. The latest episode of is up! With popular show guests GENE PARK, ANDY ROBBINS, and LAMBERT SHENG! Our topic: The state of the comic art market! We recorded the episode two weekends ago, right as the lastest Signature comic art auction from Heritage Auctions had concluded. The timing was right, because I've been wanting to talk to these guys for a while about the unprecedented rise in values over the past year or so. If you've been wondering, too, then this one's for you. Plus all the usual hobby insights from some of the sharpest collectors around. Thanks to my pals for joining me! And now enjoy the show!

Surprise everyone, we’re back. I bet none of you were expecting another episode so soon. Well, this one’s not a regular episode. This one’s more of a sneak preview. To introduce a special edition of the show that we’re calling SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART. SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART is the unleashed. I’ve recruited some of the biggest names in the hobby to assist with this project. If you’ve enjoyed the stories we’ve shared on the Felix Comic Art Podcast, then our SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART series will share the stories that we couldn’t discuss publicly before. Until now. A few samples of what you'll hear: - Did a well-known collector once deprive himself of water for 24 hours prior to a notorious dealer coming to his home, because he was afraid he'd get ripped off if he had to go to the bathroom during the meeting? - Did a publisher once try to extort Frank Frazetta for a painting, and if he didn't get it, he would publish some of Frank's secret pornographic art he'd gotten his hands on? - What happens when the son of billionaire tries to buy $250K worth of art from you at a show with a check...but you don't know he's the son of a billionaire? - How about the first (and last?) ever interview with the mysterious megacollector known as "The Vacuum"? - And a whole lot more! So why are so many willing to share these private collecting and hobby stories now? Because SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART is my fundraiser to benefit the cancer charity organization, PALTOWN. I want to thank my friends for helping me with this, and for opening up like never before to provide the best content possible. The SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART series will only be available for those who have donated to PALTOWN. If you've already donated, you will be given access to everything. Every single episode. We already have five full-length episodes in the can, and are working on more! If you haven't donated, yet, it's not too late. We are offering multiple tiers, so you can have access to as many episodes, or as few, as you like. Please write me for more details. Our goal is to raise as much as we can for PALTOWN, so know that your tax deductible donations, at any tier, are greatly appreciated. For now, this one’s available for all listeners…it's "The Craigslist Story". Thanks everyone, talk soon. Felix

Podcast fans, we've got good news and bad news. Good news is...new episode is up! Bad news...it's got nothing to do with comic art. But it's about something important to me. This one's about my family. And what we've been through the last few years. It will, at the very least, answer any questions you may have had about why we went off our regular schedule. But mostly, I hope it might help someone out there who finds themselves in a similar siuation. Or if anyone is dealing with cancer now, feel free to reach out to me. You are not alone! The organization Paltown was extremely critical to me during our family journey. And it's so crucial for other patients and caregivers now. If you're a fan of the show and appreciate what we do, then please consider making a donation that will assist so many: Please dedicate the donation to my wife ("In Memory of Dianna Lu") and notify me via e-mail (). We have a lot planned for the show, and it starts with this fundraiser for Paltown. Thanks everyone, talk soon. Felix
