Mallory came to us all the way from good ole’ Chilliwack, BC! A fellow mama-bear who is madly in love with her transgender son, she put on her advocate pants and came out to share everything with us that makes her family, and her community so great. She is doing GOOD work to make her city a more inclusive place for the next generation, and is probably the #1 fan of our podcast. Welcome, Mallory! Parent guilt. Every parent's got it. None of us like it. As parents of transgender kiddos, people have certainly had a few choice words for us. But our worst critics are actually the little voices in our heads that tell us we are doing it all wrong. Join Ruby & Lucy for a vulnerable guilt sharing conversation and stay tuned for the burning party at the end. We met Eli online.. surprise surprise! Eli identifies as non-binary, and uses the pronouns they/them/theirs. Raised by feminist parents, they certainly got the memo that gender norms were meant to be broken! But, their gender identity evolution has been a process in understanding, self-reflection, and compassion. They are a parent, kindergarten teacher, and all around cool person. We thank them for sharing their story, and helping us showcase another trans voice so we can continue to learn and grow. What is social privilege? And, how does it relate to our experiences as cisgender people raising transgender kiddos? These are the questions we asked ourselves as we embarked on a conversation of what our privilege has afforded us, and how we can use that privilege to give our transgender friends a hand-up as supportive allies to their community. We've focused a lot on positive parental relationships and coming outs here so far, but what does it look like for those who do not have their parent's support? Alec shares a vulnerable tale with us. His path in overcoming adversity is a messy one at times. But, also a beautiful story of resilience, strength, and staying true to oneself. A MUST listen for anyone who is struggling with receiving parental support, but also for those who are struggling to give it. People have had a lot of questions about our partners. In the process of coming out on behalf of our kiddos both Ruby & Lucy have received the reaction of, “oh, it must be so hard on your husband” or “I don’t think my husband could go along with that”. We asked them why they think people react this way, and a whole host of other Q's! This week's episode gives you a great window into life as a cisgender dad to a transgender kiddo.

Like any parent, we have fears about our boys growing up and navigating the world. Through the podcast and starting these conversations we hope to create safer communities for trans people of all ages. We need society to change in order for our children to grow up safe and happy. This week we discuss our future fears. Lots of awesome dialogue happening on this topic. #translivesmatter

For families with transgender children something as simple as going "back to school" can be anything but simple. Parents of transgender children think a lot about these transitions, and how to help the school year go more smoothly. Why do names, pronouns and forms mean so much to our families? Hear about Z's first week at kindergarten, and J advocating for himself within the classroom.

This week we meet two lovely people; an engaged to be married couple Neve & Nathan. They share a bit about their love story with us. According to them, being queer and in a relationship without gendered expectations has its perks! Listen on and educate yourselves my cis and queer friends. Who doesn't love a good love story?

Ruby & Lucy really enjoyed choosing their infants names at birth... but like some other things assigned at birth, those were also not quite the right match. Hear the two mamas chat about their kiddos name choices, how these came to be, and how everyone reacted. We know you will love this one.

This week we have the pleasure of welcoming Andrea to our show. Andrea is a super proud mama bear to a transgender daughter, and active LGBTQ+ supporter and ally. She will warm your heart with her gold quotes, endless love, and confident affirmation of her daughter's identity. Thank you to Andrea for sharing your story.

This week we talk about that very special moment where our kiddos got to see themselves for exactly who they are. And so did we. Thank goodness for LGBTQ+ friendly hairdressers. You are true heroes!

Last week, Ruby had the pleasure of speaking as a guest on the podcast, "Parent Talk" with Genevieve Kyle and Heather Fox. Lucy was unable to attend our recording session, but would have loved to be a part of it. We met the following week and discussed the questions she missed, and reflected on the nerves that can come up when you are asked to speak as a special guest.

Mack was kind enough to share his journey in self discovery with us. Navigating a cisgender world as a gender creative kiddo, he has learned so much about where he exists on the spectrum and who he is today as a young man. Guaranteed this story will move you. We are so grateful he was willing to share it with us.

KIDS! They love to go to the bathroom together. Lots goes down in those school bathrooms, and us parents of trans kiddos have all the fears when it comes to bathrooms. Sometimes justified.. other times, not! Hear it all here in Episode 3.
