Welcome to this episode of News-Sweep, in which we dive into six of the most important events that shaped December 2024 so far!We will cover South Korea’s political crisis as their president Yoon Suk Yeol first declared martial law and then got impeached. In Mayotte and other parts of South East Africa, a cyclone left massive devastation. We will talk about Georgians protesting against their government’s decision to suspend accession negotiations with the EU, as well as about the Assad regime collapsing in Syria. We will also dive into the aftermath of the shooting of Healthcare United CEO Brian Thompson, which caused far-reaching public responses. To end the year with some hopeful news, we celebrate Ghana electing its first ever female vice president: Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang!
