This is part 1 of a 4 part series on RFPs and how to demystify what they really are - a menu from funders on what they are willing to support and the terms in which they will do so.
Check out this episode for a sneak peek of what is coming up the next 3 weeks - something I call the ELF method of reviewing RFPs with more ease!

Before we can demystify how to write and manage grants, we first need to acknowledge how difficult it can be to locate grants. All too often we are told 'just join x and y list serves', but those can be predatory, even charging you to view RFP information that is already expired, you are not even eligible for, or that is invite only.
Blah blah what a waste of time
In today's episode I share 3 of my alternative practices for finding where the grants at, because they have to be somewhere!
The short and sweet of it:
1. Build your own list of funders to periodically check
2. Credential creeping - check websites/marketing of similar organizations/projects for who their funders are and then check out those funders for their funding sources, and soon a web is formed of potential grants
3. Table Time - where are funders and potential partners spending their time? events/ trainings/ community forums? How can you partake, reach out, begin relationship building so you're in the loop of future funding opportunities because you're not on funder radars
If you'd like a template or for me to dive further into any of these, let me know!

Join Lori Crawford, Your Fairy Grant Mentor, as she shares the problematic origins of grant funding and nonprofits at the detriment of grassroot organizations. This awareness lets us understand that funders are gatekeepers. This episode offers language for why grant writing can feel so 'off' as we're expected to write ill about the people we are serving just to justify why we need funding to support them. Listeners are invited to consider what it would be like to tell their full story and do so in a more humane way, all while receiving grant funding that gets them a seat at the funder table where they can push the envelope through accountability based relationship building.

Join Lori Crawford as she shares the origin of The Grant Glow Up as an initiative to not only make grant writing suck less but make it a more human centered practice despite the problematic structures in place that even dictate that grants are a thing we have to navigate to get our needs met.
