James Malone is a Former Royal Marine Commando and served 4 years in the Corps.
James served on Operation Herrick 9 where half of his section were either killed or injured during the tour.
Since leaving James had a varying number of jobs but went back to his calling of film making. He currently is in the final stages of his newest film Once We Were Warriors.
This is the films premise:
“10 years after the end of operations in Afghanistan, a team of veterans turned filmmakers set out to discover what veteran aftercare truly looks like after conflict. They unearth stories of redemption, redefinition and resilience not only from the people they meet but within themselves.”
Adz and James chat about life in the Royal Marines and different firefight stories, life as a civilian, and dealing with memories that will last a lifetime.

Micheal Weetman is the head of a Charitable organisation called Roll to Recovery. RtoR was created to help people deal with alcohol, substance miss use and mental health through the art of Submission grappling.
Micheal is also a Army Veteran, Adz and Mike talk in depth of some ways to deal with addiction, mental health whilst pursuing the art of jiujitsu and grappling.

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, the marine biologist who coined the term “Blue Mind.”
His groundbreaking research has uncovered a variation of ways in which our connection to water profoundly impacts our well-being and cognitive abilities.
Through his book “Blue Mind : How Water Makes You Happier, More Connected and Better at What You Do" Dr Nichols has brought attention to the therapeutic benefits of water environments.
Adz and Dr Nichols talk about the mental aspect of water, surfing and the mental health benefits of water based activities.

Liz McConaghy is from a small town in County Down Noethan Ireland, spent a total of seventeen years flying with the RAF’s Chinook Fleet. Aged just 21, she was the youngest aircrew member to deploy to Iraq and was also the only female crewman’ on the Chinook wing for four years. Liz became the longest serving female chinook crew member and during her career deployed to Afghanistan ten times. Liz is also the author of “Chinook Crew ‘Chick’: Highs and Lows of Forces Life from the Longest Serving Female RAF Chinook Force Crew member.
Liz and Adz talk all things military from potential paths crossed in war zones, fighting, casualties and the toll and sacrifice that is sometimes the untold and hidden result of exposure to conflict and war.
Mental health is a key thing in todays society so I hope this resinates with some of you.

Anthony Mullally is a breathwork practitioner. A former Professional Rugby League player now retired, found breathwork as a performance enhancing and wellness tool he utilised during his career.
He now teaches breathwork to Professional Surfers, Pro Grapplers, Olympians and Corporations. His no nonsense approach to wellness makes Ant very unique and inclusive to everyone.

Dan Bassett is a unique guy, a former Royal Navy serviceman, old school Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Close Protection Officer and Owner of Mr Bassets Grapplers Soap.
In the podcast Dan and Adz chat about how Dan used to take MMA fights after limited training as he "just used to like a scrap". A little on life and philosophy and how he started a business in Grappling Soap.

Leigh Remedios is a pioneer of grappling and MMA in the UK. He started training martial arts back in the early 1990's and fought his first MMA pro fight circa 1997. He is the epitome of a modern day grappling guru.
He now teaches, trains and competes on numerous events still, also being asked to teach at seminars all over the world.
Leigh and I delve into the intricacies of grappling, gym affiliations and politics, I also gets told off for not learning leg locks earlier in my BJJ journey.
Leigh was a fantastic guest and opened my eyes to a few things.

Nick Tiscoe is a Brazilan Jiujitsu Black Belt under Maricio Gomes and Kevin Capel, he runs his own academy in Newquay, Cornwall North Shore Jiujitsu. Newquay is renowned for being the surfing mecca here in the UK and is an apt place for Nick to live and have his academy located.
I say this as Nick was also a Professional free surfer and is still chasing waves today.
In this conversation Adz and nick delve into surfing and Jiujitsu cultures, the changes over the last 10-15 years and the amazing correlation between BJJ and Surfing.

One of the most influential Martial Artists of the past two decades, John Will’s accomplishments within the industry are prolific. In the seventies and early eighties he trained extensively throughout Indonesia, Thailand, India and Japan. He was a multi-style Black Belt back when such things just did not happen.
In the 80’s he founded Blitz, Australia’s Leading Martial Arts Magazine, which has since grown to dominate the marketplace here in Australasia. In the late 80’s he switched focus to the USA, where he began training with the likes of World Kickboxing Champion, Benny ‘the Jet’ Urquidez, Gene LeBell, the Gracies and Machado brothers.
After several training trips to Brazil and numerous more to LA, John introduced the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Australian shores and in 1997 was awarded his BJJ Black Belt by the Machado's.
In the podcast Adz and John talk about the early days of BJJ, some cool stories of his jiujitsu journey and how grappling can be incorporated into public services.

Beau Bromham is talking to Adz this week. Beau is a North Devon, UK surfing performance coach that is working as part of the English Surf Team to develop young groms to smash it on the big stage of surf competition. Beau is also a Brazilian Jiujitsu Blue Belt under Yama Jiujitsu.
Beau is a former British Surf Team member and competitor himself, along as being a RNLI Beach Lifeguard. In the podcast this week Beau and Adz delve into the complexities of the British Surf scene, surf coaching, funding for the English Surf Team and a little bit about Jiujitsu.

Tom Barlow is on the podcast with Adz this week. They delve into subjects of BJJ Academy business, commentating, jiujitsu styles and a host of other random stuff.
Tom Barlow has been active in the UK BJJ scene and the international competitive jiu jitsu circuit for more than a decade. He received his black belt in 2011 from Braulio Estima, and has trained all over the world with greats like Eric Paulson, Andre Galvao, Rafa and Gui Mendes, and Otavio Sousa, among others.
Tom has been very successful in competitive BJJ as well. He is a three-time No-Gi World Champion at featherweight, European Champion, and has competed in a number of professional, submission-only events like the Polaris Pro and Tuff– you also might recognise him as a recurring commentator for Polaris.Enjoy
