Today's world is all about that hustle. Go! Move! Faster! More Productive! Bigger! Better!
Ugh. It makes me feel ill. Fuuuuuuck thaaaaaaat.
I'm all about that REST. Giving ourselves little moments (or big ones) of rest, nourishment, relaxation, that help nurture and recharge our inner batteries and ignite our creativity and innovation.
So today I delve into why rest is so important, some different ways it can look (hint: not just sleep/naps), and HOW to Rest Like A Champ.

I was driving home from the beach earlier this week, and something I saw made me think about the choices we make each and every day, and how they impact our future selves.
We make choices to STEAL from our future selves. All. The. Time.
But WHY? What motivates us to make those choices? What are the consequences of those choices? How can we stop this harmful practice and make better choices that support our future selves instead?
Take a listen. It's all in here.

As I was saying a few episodes ago, change is constant, and is going to happen to us ALL the time. We have no freaking idea what life is going to throw at us from one moment to the next, and we swim in a pool of almost complete uncertainty almost all of the time.
So how to we manage that? How do we consistently show up for ourselves and the people we care about in life? How do we learn to be better at our emotions, moods, energy, and handle the varied and challenging circumstances we get handed each new day by good ol' life?
We learn to Have Our Own Back.
That's what I get into today. What I mean by that statement, why it's so important, and crucially HOW to get started having your own back.
Have a listen, learn what it means to have your own back, and let me know how this helped you.
With love and gratitude,
Israel. xoFor all episode and other links, plus a full transcript and other resources from this episode, visit the episode page on my website here: https://israelsmith.com/podcasts/s5ep006/

Our ability to be curious is correlated with our ability to LIVE, not simply exist.
Curiosity has the power to improve our relationship with ourselves, our sense of fun/play, our connection with our loved ones, our motivation, and our ability to enjoy life.
Are you curious to listen to this episode? I hope so!
Get started now, and let me know what you think.

When I ask this question, most of my clients have NO idea to start with, except "Not this."
That's fine! Start there. Knowing what you DON'T want is the start of identifying what you DO want.
The idea of “wanting” something is often accompanied by self-judgement, self-censorship, and shame.
But unless we get clear on what we actually want in life, we will never know how to invest our time, what we need to change, and how to move ourselves toward the life/thing we want.
I believe it’s OK to want what we want. I also think it’s our responsibility to own our desires/wants, and take action to bring them into existence.
In this episode I explore the kinds of things stopping us from understanding what we want, plus an exercise to help you figure out what you DO want.

Change is inevitable. It is always occurring, every day, every second. All around us. Plants, insects, people, business, economy, government, weather... You name it, it's changing. Every. Single. Day.
So, how do we handle that? What stops us from wanting to change? What causes us to be bad at navigating change, and how can we handle it better? That's what I want to share with you in this episode.

All Work & No Play Makes You Unhappy AF – S5 EP002
If you spend all your time working, providing for your family, doing everything for everyone else, and never taking any time for yourself… I guarantee you will reach a point where you burnout, start hating life, or possibly even wipeout with depression. (Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.)
Life is meant to involve play and fun. We are meant to ENJOY life as well as work. Work to live, not live to work, yeah? Nearly every client of mine started off with NO joy, play or fun in their life. And it was a major problem.
But when I challenged them about this, and they started prioritising play, making time for enjoyment for its own sake, and GODS FORBID actually putting themselves first occasionally…. THAT is when things really started to shift.
They started smiling more, being more present and less resentful with their family and at work, and finding something to look forward to each day or week.
I don’t care what you do. Bird watching? Flying? Making model tanks out of plastic? Cataloguing worms? Who cares. What matters is you HAVE FUN in your life.
And if you can’t even comprehend what play it fun looks like but you KNOW something has to change, book me for a 1hr Breakthrough Call today. I have a couple spots on my calendar and I promise the time and money you invest will change your life.

I've Forgiven Myself... Can You Do The Same?
Forgiveness is a powerful, transformative act of compassion – releasing resentment, anger, and the belief that the past could have been another way.
But what about self-forgiveness? Inspired by a social media post earlier this week –https://www.instagram.com/p/Cko2mCAPwUU/ – I decided to do a bit of a deep dive into forgiveness.
Enjoy, and please tell me how this episode served you. Send me an email, or drop me a DM on IG. 😃❤️🙏

Why You Don't Know What You Want...
If I were to ask you "What do you want?" ... Would you be able to answer? Would you know? AND... would you even be answering from your own true, authentic desires of what you want? Or, would your answer be skewed with the desires/pressures/motivations of your environment, social and otherwise?
It's crucial that we know what we truly want and desire in this life. For, without that, where are we going and how do we weigh the important choices of our life?
Learn all about the barriers in the way between you and knowing truly what you want, AND some steps on how to get through those barriers and connect more deeply to your true desires.

What Are You Tolerating?
This question has the power to radically transform your life. What are you tolerating? What are you putting up with? What have you normalised in your life? What kinds of things have become part of the background noise of your life, that you previously would have taken exception to?
Take a listen. Be courageous. Find some time to spend on yourself where you can take inventory of your life, and by all means, check out my Life Alignment Survey here: https://israelsmith.com/lifealignmentsurvey/

The Training Montage – It's ALL The Work.
You know what I mean, right? The Training Montage is the sequence in any sports film where the protagonist goes from being a rank amateur with hardly any skills, to suddenly getting fitter, faster, better, stronger... and able to not only keep up with the incumbent hero, but ultimately take them down and become the new hero themselves.
This episode is all about how that entire ENTIRE montage is a lie. It's all a lie. It's not how life works. Want to know how life REALLY works? (I'm sure you can guess...) Take a listen to this episode, and share it around.

The Rest Is The Work. Slow Down To Speed Up. Let Go To Take Hold. Sharpen The Saw. etc...
I could have written any one of about a dozen titles for this episode, as it shows up in countless different ways in my life, and no doubt yours too. Take a listen as I dig into the story behind my upcoming workshops, and how stress, tension headaches, and finally letting myself rest, culminated in my subconscious delivering what I needed the whole time.

Feeling Safe in a Chaotic World.
What do I mean by Safe? And how can we feel safe, regardless of the external circumstances of our lives? In this episode I dig right into this idea of safety, and how it plays out in our lives. Whether we are in a fight/flight state, or in our rest/digest/relax state, makes a massive difference to how we show up, how we work, learn, behave, and even how our bodies respond to our circumstances.

Hard Conversations (R U OK?) ...
Last week (as I publish this) was R U OK? Day. The day is a global phenomenon, all about asking that simple question "Are You OK?" and starting conversations that can change – and save – lives. It's a day of bringing awareness to suicide and its prevalence, and bringing some old-fashioned connection back to our lives, human to human, to help slow down / zero out the rates of suicide.
In this episode I reflect on the nature of hard conversations. We get scared, we don't know what to do, what to say, or how to approach them, and more than anything, we often shy away from feeling uncomfortable about having hard chats.
It's something I've recently experienced in my own life, as well as via R U OK? Day, and it's something I'm teaching as part of a corporate workshop through the latter part of this year.

Unplug. Create some Empty Space.
In this episode I talk about the power of NOT force-feeding ourselves media, and unplugging from the digital/online "matrix" we currently live in.
I also talk about the importance of Empty Space and how much it can add to our life, by – among other things – allowing ourselves to get bored!
It's come up a few times in my own life, my family's life, as well as with my clients. Enjoy and let me know what you liked most about this episode.
