In the second part of my conversation with Ryan, we shift focus away from his career as an athlete and look at a completely different but at the same time similar performance environment: Ryan's career as a science fiction writer. We discuss a bunch of topics including how to keep growing your skills, the challenges of being a full-time writer and what lessons learned through sport can be applied to a writer.

Ryan DeBruyn is a good friend of mine with an amazing life story that goes from being a professional athlete to writing and publishing his own book series, Ether Collapse. Nobody changes their behaviour after a successful play, win or season. Only when a mistake is made, people tend to change their behaviour. Yet, when we talk about athletes, we mostly talk about their achievements. I want to change that by interviewing athletes, coaches and other support staff and ask them about the biggest mistakes they made in their careers, but most importantly, how those mistakes made them into the person they are today.
