What began as a presumed case of two children wandering off has evolved into something far more puzzling. Despite an intensive ground and air search, no physical evidence has been recovered beyond a single boot print near their home.

With growing public concern, calls for an Amber Alert, and conflicting details in media coverage, this case is as heartbreaking as it is baffling.

  • Saskatoon, SK - May 1962

In 1962, 23-year-old Alexandra Wiwcharuk—a vibrant nurse, beauty queen, and beloved daughter—went for a walk along the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon and never came home. Her body was discovered weeks later, buried in a shallow grave not far from her home. She had been brutally assaulted and buried alive.

In this episode of Nighttime, we revisit Alexandra Wiwcharuk’s haunting case with acclaimed author Sharon Butala, whose book The Girl in Saskatoon explores Alexandra’s life, her death, and the deep scars left in its wake. Butala, as a former classmate of Alexandra, brings a unique and intimate lens to this decades-old mystery.

Together, we explore the investigation, the cultural context of 1960s Saskatoon, and the lingering questions that continue to haunt those touched by the case.

This is more than a story of a crime—it’s a story of memory, silence, and a community still searching for justice.

  • Langenburg, SK - Sept 1974
    ï»ż
Saskatchewan farmer named Edwin Fuhr claimed to have witnessed something extraordinary—five metallic, saucer-shaped objects hovering over his field. As he watched in stunned silence, the objects spun rapidly, emitted a grey vapor, and then shot off into the sky without making a sound. What remained were five mysterious circular imprints in the grass—physical evidence that even an RCMP investigation couldn’t explain.
Nearly 50 years later, the Langenburg UFO incident remains one of Canada’s most compelling unexplained encounters. What did Fuhr really see that September morning?
In this episode we are joined by Canadian UFO researcher and writer Chris Rutkowski to explore the sighting, the investigation, and the broader implications on UFO history.
