  • My guest this week is the delightful Kassidy Birdsong, a social worker by training who now is at home with her twins. Kassidy shares not only about twin life, but about an amazing toddler music program she began in a senior citizen memory care unit near her home. I do apologize for the echo in this episode. Inexpicably I decided not to plug in my headphones for this interview so it recorded Kassidy with a slight echo delay. But I promise it’s worth it. I had such fun talking with Kassidy. So, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about the magic of two babies at once, learning to let go of expectations and do what’s best for your family, and Kassidy’s creative way to build community and meet the needs of three generations all at one time. • This week I sat down and tried to explain some thoughts I’ve had about motherhood to Lori Lynn. And we recorded it to share with you guys. I hope I was able to explain myself well enough. The gist is that motherhood is like a buffet full of wonderful choices and there’s no way we can eat it all. We have to make choices. We are PRIVILEGED to make choices. And we have to leave some stuff for other people. Anyways, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about choices in motherhood, the irony of complaining because we have to choose between several wonderful things, and where this whole idea came from in the first place. • This week Lori Lynn and I thought we’d have a practical discussion about diapering and the different choices we made. Moms spend a lot of time and money on diapers and surprisingly we haven’t really covered it much on this podcast. So, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we chat about fluffy bootys, various types of smell issues, and of course, what my favorite bargain brand is.

  • This is our first episode back after my summer break and I’m happy to announce that Lori Lynn gave birth to her daughter Delta Lynn in June. They are both doing fantastic and Lori Lynn will be back with us soon to talk about these past few weeks postpartum. We are kicking off this new year of the podcast with a super fun discussion. Rhiannon, my original co-host and dear friend is back today to fill us in on life as a twin mom. We talk about what’s unique about mothering twins, what they’re up to and we do a deep dive into mental health. But first I recorded a little explanation of my unexpected break this summer and what’s been going on at our house. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about baby boys, two of everything, and getting yourself the help you need. • Lori Lynn and I had wanted to do a special episode for the 100th, but Lori Lynn is very close to her due date and is deep in pre-birth preparations. So instead, I had the very fun task of interviewing my oldest friend. Haley Foster and I have been in each other’s lives since before we were born. She is like family to me and she’s here today to share her postpartum stories. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about birth trauma, fighting to breastfeed, and how you take care of a baby when you, the mom, are the patient. • Ok Let’s talk about this week’s episode. I’m super excited about this one! First, we are including a new segment called Ask a Doula where Lori Lynn puts on her doula hat and answers common Mom questions for us. And then we get into the main episode. This is a topic I hope to dive into more this next year of the podcast and it is the truth that every mom is a working mom. Let me say that again. Every. Mom. Is a. Working. Mom. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about what that phrase means to us, what we hope it means for you and a bit of history about moms and working life. >>>Take the SURVEY here

  • As Lori Lynn nears the birth of her third child it has us thinking about creating a home that works for our mothering needs. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about creating a space for ourselves, how we set up for the first weeks with a newborn, and why I never made a nursery for my first two babes. >>>TAKE OUR LISTENER SURVEY

  • It’s easy as moms to get so caught up in keeping our little human alive that we forget that we are human too. Lori Lynn and I are chatting today about how we get back to feeling human when we’ve gotten a little lost in the feeding, wiping, rocking, and other never-ending chores of motherhood. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about making sure all five senses are getting attention, which rooms we think should get the most attention, and the one area where we swap our introvert and extrovert hats for a little while. • Our guest this week is Melissa Duncan. Melissa is a wife, mom to two boys, a lawyer, an assistant dean at a law school and the host of Influential Motherhood Podcast. While we make a point of recognizing that all moms are working moms, we also recognize that if your work is outside the home and for a paycheck, there are definitely some time constraints and points of stress that are different than for other moms. So Melissa is on the podcast sharing some life hacks she’s learned in her years juggling family and her other professional pursuits. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we talk about the items Melissa buys in bulk to simplify laundry, the two types of lunches she rotates for balance, and the app I downloaded after Melissa shared about how it helps her communicate with her husband. • It’s been a crazy few weeks at my house. And I’m working on plans for the podcast’s future. But part of those plans included spending the weekend moving rooms around in our house so I can have an office. And I’m also dealing with some lingering issues in my back and pelvis that I’ve talked about on the show before. Plus job changes for my husband, crazy kids, homeschooling, you know the drill. So, I decided to dig into our backlist and re-play one of my favorite episodes this week. The Body Image episode was originally aired as Episode 11. It features Rhiannon, my original co-host and I talking about our body image postpartum. I think about this topic a lot. And it’s really really important to me. Body image issues are a MAJOR problem for all women and the time around pregnancy and birth is a common trigger for eating disorders. So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and join us as we revisit this chat about comments that may not be so well-meaning after all, feeling invisible, and why I firmly believe that it’s best to never compliment a woman on her body.
