In this episode we speak to Curve Cycling’s Expedition Specialist, Gus Burrell live from Salta, Argentina. It was one week after Gus successfully led the second ever Curve expedition, this time through the remarkably diverse country in the northwestern pocket of Argentina.
Join us to hear about the program of bucket list adventures Gus has crafted around the world. Gus is the right man for the job having lived on his bike while travelling around the world in 2019. You’ll also hear some stories from the road, both from our recent trips and Gus’s adventures, and get an understanding of the sort of experience we’re trying to craft for our intrepid expeditioners. Don’t be surprised if a giraffe tries to seal your drink or you find yourself having a roadside picnic high in the Andes.

In this podcast Jesse Carlsson speaks to three incredible ultra-endurance athletes from the Curve Squad in the lead up to the first edition of the Rhino Run, a new 2,750 km solo, unsupported bikepacking race from Plettenberg Bay, South Africa to Windhoek, Namibia. The race also supports the Masaka Cycling Club (www.masakacyclingclub.com) and its inspiring work to uncover and nurture raw cycling talent in Uganda.
Join Abdullah Zeinab, Sarah Hammond and Stephen Lane as they each share their thoughts one week out from lining up against possibly the strongest start list in ultra-endurance cycling history. They were in the middle of packing their bikes at Curve HQ in Melbourne and making final pack-list checks immediately before heading to the airport. We discuss their preparation, bike selection, thoughts on how the race will pan out with all the hitters involved, the mental rollercoaster of long distance cycling, the stomach-stretching properties of broccoli and much, much more including Jesse's extreme overuse of the phrase "looking forward to seeing how it all to unfolds" (I counted at least 12 times).
Each of these talented athletes has a shot at wining the Rhino Run and we wish them all the best. We can't wait to see it all play out when the race begins on 21 October 2022. Check www.rhinorun.cc for all the details on how to follow the race.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this podcast we speak to a guy who you wouldn't normally associate with off-road unsupported racing. His name is Patrick Boutellier, he is a Swiss watchmaker and lives high up in the luxury brands and corporate world. Not long after completing the 2020 Vic Divide, Adam Lana grabbed Patrick to talk about his amazing experience.
The previous podcast had us speaking to Lewis Ciddor about the Vic Divide and we wanted to acknowledge that it was since run and won by Lewis himself, he completed the course in a little over 44 hours, what an amazing effort! 42 riders started the ride with about 60% finishing it and a massive congrats to all that even attempted this challenging course. Some raced it to win, some wanted to tour it, and others wanted the pure challenge of it... Patrick took on this challenge.

The thought of loading your bike to ride around the world is a life long dream for some, for others a terrifying and overwhelming ordeal. But for Gus Burrell that is a reality. At the beginning of this year, "The Gus Wagon" stepped away from his life in the cycling industry of Melbourne Australia, packed his Curve Kevin of Steel and headed off to Japan, and onwards to Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, through to Europe, Lesotho and awaits his next leg into South America.
We've teamed up with Jordan Addison from the G!RO Podcast to catch up with Gus on a short break here in the UK. We hear about the remote places he has visited, the personal journey he has been on, the wonderful bike accompanying him, and of course the Bratwurst. Gus is a wonderful human, and we know you will love this one. Cheers Gus!
So sit back, grab a brew and enjoy!

It's been a while between drinks, but Jesse and Sarah catch up with a 19 year old named Jimmy Ashby who told us that he wanted to ride 29,000km around the world to raise money for his Nan, who died of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
What followed was something pretty amazing; determined and motivated Jimmy jumped on a Curve GXR and started pedaling. A little over a year later, which included 32 countries, 40,000km and $30K+ raised, yesterday he returned back to Adelaide achieving something truly special and amazing. A huge congratulations, you absolute little ripper Jimmy, we are all so so proud!!! Go to https://give.everydayhero.com/au/jimmy-ashby-around-the-world-by-bike to donate to his cause.@jimmy_ashby

Tim Taylor is taking a little lonesome trip for the homeless. By little, we mean a 10,000km journey that takes him from Melbourne to Uluru, roughly following the 2016 Race to the Rock route. From Uluru to Albany following the 2017 Race to the Rock route in reverse, and then will follow the Indian Pacific Wheel Race route back to Melbourne. He's doing to all this to raise money and awareness for the homeless, Adam caught up with him 5,000kms into his journey - get behind him via the links below.

Our first mini episode... a tid bit we had to share. Below is an email we received today. Our first order via some lyric and rhyme.
"It’s Josh, Emma’s brother. She is coming to visit you today. She is a budding rap artist. But she gets stage fright. She sent me some lyrics for her new Kevin of Steel. But she is too nervous to perform it live for you. I have attached the cover art for the single, and the lyrics so you can rap along. She is very proud of her work. Please excuse my lack of rapping ability. But just know. This is all her. Once you guys have had a chat about the bike etc, maybe ask her to rap it for you if she has relaxed a bit and isn't so nervous."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In the final episode of Series 1, we've responded to requests for people who wanted to know more about how Curve came to be. So we've gathered the 4 people involved and tried to give you bit of an insight. While we start off well, we soon understand why podcasts don't often have 4 people involved :) Thanks for listening, look forward to bringing you more.
