  • In this THROWBACKS series of The Therapy Edit, we're bring back some of our most loved episodes from the archives.

In this episode of The Therapy Edit, Anna spoke to guest Rebecca Wilson who offers fellow mums the tip that they don't need to aspire to perfection every single day.

Rebecca is the founder of a family food and eating platform that you can find at www.rebeccawilson.com
You can also follow her on Instagram at @rebeccawilsonfood

When she began weaning her daughter Nina onto solid food at 6 months Rebecca wanted to cook once for herself and her daughter to save time, but struggled to find recipes that were suitable for herself and her daughter.

After extensive research into what foods babies can and canā€™t have, Rebecca discovered that with some imagination and creativity, it was possible to cook meals that babies and adults could enjoy together. Soon, she started sharing her recipe ideas and weaning journey (the highs and lows) on her Instagram channel, originally called What Mummy Makes.

    ā€˜Some people donā€™t like meā€
ā€œBad things will happen to people I loveā€
    ā€œIā€™m going to failā€
ā€¦ these words underpinned my anxieties and nightmares. I bet they feature in yours too.

Our fears are anchored in the unavoidable truths of life; all things reach an end, bad things happen, and we lack the control we crave.

As an experienced psychotherapist, whoā€™s had years of therapy, I realised that ploughing endless energy into trying to control the uncontrollable is keeping us all tired, wired, and worried. Ignoring fears doesnā€™t make them less true, it makes them more powerful. I decided to try a different tact and it changed my world.

Instead of doing everything I could to ease and avoid lifeā€™s uncomfortable truths, I sought a deeper acceptance of them. Through using this approach, my clients and I discovered that fear began to loosen its grip. We were living more intentionally and peacefully.

So, face your fears one a chapter at a time, and discover who you are without worry, doubt and people-pleasing holding you back.

  • In this Friday guest episode of The Therapy Edit, Anna chats to Dad Blogger and father of 3 Giles Alexander about his one thing; that you're doing an incredible job and your child is so lucky to have you.

Giles Alexander is one of the UK's leading dad bloggers, who has been writing about fatherhood and the highs and lows of his own parenting journey for nearly a decade.

After finding out he was going to be a dad for the first time, Giles quickly discovered that almost everything online about pregnancy and parenthood was targeted at mums and their experience, with hardly anything to help new dads figure out this monumental transition in their lives.

To help fix this, Giles created his blog ā€“ www.youthedaddy.co.uk ā€“ which quickly became a favourite with new mums and dads around the world, drawn in by his humour, honesty and reassuring, practical advice.Best known for his ā€œManā€™s Guide to Baby Growth During Pregnancyā€, interviews with well-known personalities and parenting experts, and his funny and heart-warming parent poetry, Gilesā€™ posts have helped more than a million parents to navigate the rollercoaster ride of parenthood, while providing support, advice and encouragement to new dads the world over.

Excitingly, Giles has recently published his first book - YOU THE DADDY: the hands-on dad's guide to fatherhood - providing dads-to-be with a huge amount of practical advice on how to be supportive partners throughout pregnancy and birth, as well as confident, hands-on dads throughout the early years of fatherhood.A proud working dad with a busy career and home life, Giles lives in the UK with his wife Rosie and their three small children.
