"Nick and Beth, a young British couple, embarked on the journey of a lifetime; a motorcycle expedition from Texas to Ushuaia, Argentina. However, their adventure took a harrowing turn in Belize:
It's almost 1am and Beth and Nick are camped in an established campground in Belize when five men armed with guns and machetes cut their way into the tent claiming to be police. After being pulled outside, the pair were then bound with ropes and forced to surrender all their possessions: Phones, GPS devices, Cameras, Go Pros, Helmet Comms, Tools, $700 in cash and memory cards filled with cherished trip photographs. This process involved an hour of Beth and Nick watching while the thieves broke into / cut open all their luggage, tipping all of their belongings onto the floor in pouring rain. Within the hour Beth and Nick’s losses amounted to almost 7000 GBP / 8800 USD.
Sadly it gets worse. After finding some spent ammunition kept as a souvenir from the USA, the thieves believed Beth and Nick were armed. Repeated explanations about the spent brass were in vain and Nick endured physical assault, being repeatedly kicked in the face with his hands tied behind his back, he was hit in the back of the head with a hunting rifle and suffered a bad concussion. Beth endured a terrifying sexual assault. Nick described to me the terror they felt while thieves put a machete to each of their throats and pointed a gun at their kneecaps, repeatedly counting down to zero in an attempt to make them reveal the location of the non-existent guns. Beth and Nick were eventually left, albeit with nothing of value but their motorcycles (which the thieves were unable to operate) face down in the mud with the hands tied. They remained here for several hours before being freed.
The police were then called, who visited the scene of the crime at 4am for just 30 minutes before leaving without offering the couple any shelter, form of communication, or peace of mind. Despite the trauma and lack of support from local authorities, Nick and Beth displayed remarkable resilience. They decided to leave the campsite immediately for their own safety, packing their soaked belongings into what luggage was still useable, they rode through the night seeking refuge in a gas station 40km away until the morning. "Taking place on a beautiful Cornish hilltop at the incredible Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, The Armchair Adventure Festival is the UK's best celebration of adventure travel.
Having started in 2020 in lockdown as the world first 100% live virtual adventure festival, we've now taken AAF in person with talks from incredible speakers, amazing adventurous activties and incredible live music. In previous years, festival goers have paddle boarded with a pod of dolphins, heard tales of adventure from speakers as iconic as Colonel John Blashford-Snell and danced the night away to fantastic live music from bands including Land of the Giants.
We're now gearing up for our fourth in-person Armchair Adventure Festival taking place from 25th-28th July 2024 and it's going to be our biggest and best one yet! We hope you can join us for it!"

Established in 2022, the Lightweight Adventure Festival celebrates travel and trail riding in all lightweight forms. Back then, it was a rustic, authentic and stripped back experience, aiming was to bring 30 lightweight adventurers together. It was far more successful than anticipated and bought a community together!
Now, the festival is aimed at travellers, adventurers and all those interested in the Lightweight Adventure scene. This is not a luxury boutique festival by any means. Instead, it peels back those layers of luxury just a little and gets back to basics. Now we're adventuring!

"Wrenchride started originally building rally and adventure motorcycles but whilst doing so developed great relationships with lots of suppliers and rally kit producers which in turn made us a uk dealer for part sales and official builder for most of them. As with most things growth and change is a natural progression so moving forward we will carry on offering our fantastic fully equipped workshop facilities for all your build and service needs plus going forward to improve on our excellent over the phone service for advise on parts and builds also ordering fulfilment our new online shop will make for a better customer experience all round.
We like to sell products we believe in and work well that is why we try and test every product we sell on our own shop bikes before offering the product to our customers, We also know that as good as a product can be it is not necessarily the best in all situations so using and testing products helps us help you when choosing right 1st time.
Wrenchride believes that buying the most expensive part does not make it the correct part for everyone so when our customers contact us for advise we like to have a chat about your individual needs and work out what we think the best options are for your requirements, we also believe that it is great to pass on business to others in the industry so if we do not sell what you are after we are sure we will know the best place to turn to."Thanks for listening.

Kinga was born in 1981 in what was then Communist Poland, just before the start of Martial law. Her home town is Suwalki, located in the North-East region famous for its grand, serene lakes.
After finishing her Engineering degree in Poland she immigrated to Australia. After a couple of years of living in the hustle and bustle of Sydney, working odd jobs, she finally found a job in the construction industry! Australia started to feel like home. A few years after that, she started thinking that I need to get out of the city more and, if I really wanted to explore this amazing country, I needed to be able to ride on dirt – so I purchased a BMW F800GS and I was an instant convert!
Kinga has now been travelling the world for 7 years, we talk to her whilst she is taking a break at home in Australia, before restarting her travels in South America...
