The Cook Vs UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY,
In this podcast we talk about the incident that happened in a dry dock facility in Scotland last year, where a ship owned by the US Navy fell over in that dry dock injuring 35 people onboard at the time.
The video also ties in with our latest video just released on the eSysman Superyachts channel on YouTube about AIS.
How Ships Violate International AIS Laws | Definitive AIS
https://youtu.be/MxUfMKGyRrQ
As there are some critical errors in the case by the plaintiff (the cook), after misreading the AIS data from Marine Traffic.
Case Details
Mr. Caballero is a seaman employed by Oceaneering International, Inc., a maritime
contracting company based in Houston, Texas. He has worked for Oceaneering International for
twenty-two years. He is an assistant cook.
On March 22, 2023, the Vessel was secured in a drydock in Leith, Edinburg. But
Defendant’s agents and/or servants failed to properly secure the Vessel in drydock. Around 8:35
a.m., strong winds dislodged the Vessel from its holding, causing the Vessel to topple over.
