Nicole Ver Kuilen is a disabled endurance athlete, cancer survivor, and social impact leader. She founded the nonprofit, Forrest Stump, after facing insurance denials for nearly two decades, completing a 1,500 mile triathlon from Seattle to San Diego on a prosthesis built only for walking to raise awareness. Her innovative advocacy campaigns have since sparked national change, laying the foundation for her current role leading So Every BODY Can Move, a state-based legislative initiative creating access to prosthetics and orthotics for physical activity, currently not covered by health insurance and deemed "not medically necessary." When she's not fighting discriminatory healthcare policies or igniting a disability revolution, you can find her running. She's taken home 2nd place at the Boston Marathon two years in a row for T64 female para professional athletes. Mammoth Trailfest in September was her trail debut and she loved it so much she signed up for her first 50k trail race in November at Run the Rock with Alpine Running! Nicole is proud to call the PNW home.

Caitlin is an impressively fast runner who's just started to dabble in the trails. Without much experience she has already crushed the 50km distance and will be one to watch.
In 2023 she got third place at the Squamish 50k trail race in August, which was the Canadian trail racing championships. Three weeks later, she won the Queen City full marathon in Regina, 17 seconds off her course record and qualified for Boston marathon. In November she won a World Series trail race in Puerto Vallarta Mexico which was another 50k trail race, called PuertoVallarta UTMB. This upcoming year she's excited to run Boston marathon in April and the world championships of trail running in Chamonix, France at UTMB Mont Blanc.

Buckle up as Cory takes us back to Western States 100, where he had to pull his runner from the depths of a low, to finish feeling strong.
"I feel like after this I have some fresh perspective and tips that I could bring to an episode, especially from the perspective of pacing someone that has gone from chasing a sub 24 hour goal at the beginning of the day to almost fighting the cutoff with 60km of course ahead of them.
We started just after 10pm, and wouldn't be seeing our crew for almost 6 hours. Tyler and I had to totally redo his nutrition plan on the fly, and figure out how to keep him moving to stay far enough ahead of the cutoff. He had a glorious rally, and finished with just under 2 hours to the cutoff. " - Cory

In 2015 May believed she wasn't an athlete, but started walk jogging short distances around a track to try something different. She quickly became obsessed and started the instagram account @i.heart.running to document her new hobby. Like many of us, May most certainly is an athlete and just needed to get over that mental block. She's now run distances up to 50km and is passionate about the sport and the community. She will leave you feeling excited to get out there!

I first interviewed Lizzie in 2020 when we was diagnosed with rare heart condition called AVRC. It's genetic condition that effects the muscle in your heart and makes it turn into scar tissue the harder you work the muscle. In short, it means running can kill you. We chat again about how she's learned to live with it and how far she can push.
Lizzie found running in her mid 20's and quickly fell in love. It became a huge part of her life as she began winning races and spending her weekends adventuring. She even met her now husband when they shared the podium together at a 50km.
