  • Happy New Year! And boy, am I glad it's a new one. It's officially this baby's second year and hopefully, the year in which I really figure out how to podcast - in all seriousness, your listens, comments, and reviews are so appreciated, and I look forward to improving my craft and continuing to bring you lots of breaking updates in 2023. Kicking off on a super strong note, we have a breaking update in the quadruple Idaho murders case; which has been so sad, scary, and scarce on any updates until last week, when an arrest was finally made. Plus, we check in on what's going on with Adnan Syed (both good and bad news, ugh) and the Hae Min Lee case in general. Then we discuss some upcoming dates to put in your mental planner in 2023 - lots of big things are on the horizon. Finally, two media recs - don't hate me for the first one, please.

  • It's a quickie but a relatively biggie, as we have sentencing for former COO of Theranos and right-hand man to convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes, Sunny Balwani. He plans to appeal but he's headed to prison as of now for manyy many years. Also, a new lawsuit is filed against extreme predator and convicted assaulted Bill Cosby, who was released after serving only 3 years in prison. And genetic genealogy wins again - ID-ing a boy who was until now only known as the "boy in the box," having been murdered and dumped on the side of a road in Pennsylvania in the 50s. We now have an ID and police are working to catch his killer next... check the sources for the tipline!

In this breaking-news-packed episode we discuss the JonBenet Ramsey case being reopened and looked at with new eyes and with new, modern DNA testing - will this finally bring about an answer after all these years? And the case of Dan Markel's murder has a possible game-changing moment this week as Katherine Magbanua is seemingly ready to talk - speaking with prosecutors this week; we can only imagine, maybe finally spilling on the Adelsons!? • Welcome back to another wild week in true crime with a couple major breaking updates on cold cases. A couple of this week's topics were directly thanks to an amazing post in the My Favorite Murderino Frienderino Fb group rounding up all the updates and breakthroughs of late, which put some new cases on Emmy's radar! Including the Lady of the Dunes finally being ID-ed. Our biggest case this week is a major breakthrough (arrest!) in the Delphi Murders case after years of no answers. We also cover the latest in the Elizabeth Holmes saga. Plus a robust list of media recs to stream - and one to DEFINITELY not.

  • Wow, thanks so much for the listens on the last episode's recap of the Adnan Syed developments! This week we have even bigger headlines if possible; in the form of MAJOR news about the 4-month trial of Paul and Rubin Flores for the 1996 murder of Kristen Smart. Verdicts were read this week after two separate juries deliberated, and wow I thought this day would never come! And if that wasn't enough - Adnan Syed is a FULLY free man after the pending DNA results came back this week, pointing to two alternate suspects and causing the state to completely drop all charges against him in the killing of Hae Min Lee. Will we have another trial soon? What's next for Adnan? All that and more. Finally, scumbag Harvey Weinstein heads to trial, part 2, on 11 counts of rape and assault. And we share some spooky snz-appropriate watches, reads, and listens for your weekend.

  • This episode is admittedly 3 weeks overdue, but we have a MAJOR, major, impossible to see coming update in the case of Adnan Syed, who was convicted over 20 years ago for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, and has been serving out a life sentence ever since. We cover the shocking update of the state of Maryland filing a motion to have his conviction vacated, and the even more shocking update of his conviction ACTUALLY being vacated! Unbelieavble.

Emmy also shares some media recommendations and delves into the heated debate about the new Dahmer Netflix show and what it says about the true crime genre as a whole.

  • This week's episode is a little chaotic and a little all over the place, but we cover some ground and get caught up on updates in a handful of high-profile true crime cases, including what's up with Sunny Balwani's pending sentencing, Elizabeth Holmes' latest scheme to avoid prison time, crazily, Scott Peterson is in the news cycle again (ugh!), and R. Kelly general awfulness. Emmy also shares a handful of media recs in the true crime space, both podcasts, and books, and introduced a new segment: outside of crime, where she shares an unrelated obsession that's making/ruining her life this week (the obsesssion is part of the reason this podcast is belated.)

  • Welcome to episode 13! We're breaking format a little bit today and talking about some different-than-usual topics that are in the headlines this week, because wow is it a different-than-usual week! We have to talk about the FBI Mar-A-Lago raids...we have to talk about Alex Jones. And then we also go into where Ghislaine Maxwell is serving her sentence, what sentence Katherine Magbanua got last week, how the very last accused woman in the Salem Witch Trials had her name cleared 300 + years after the fact...and more. It's a doozy. It's a mix bag. It's a lot. So to wrap up, Emmy shares some of the non true-crime media recommendations (breaking format again!) she's consuming this week to disassociate just a bit. Cause we could all use it.

  • It's been a minute, again, after a chaotic AF month for Emmy with family drama, back-to-back travel, and COVID...womp womp. But we're back! With a long list of updates in some of the biggest true crime cases of the moment, including movement in the trial of Paul and Ruben Flores, finally! We have a sentencing date for Katherine Magbanua, and a new tell-all book by Dan Markel's mother. Are we getting closer to answers, finally, about Adnan Syed from the hit podcast serial? It sounds like it! There's also some major movement in the INSANE case of Alec Murdaugh, former SC attorney - truly one of the craziest cases you've ever heard of. • Whew, long time no update! Emmy appreciates your patience, as it's been a month full of personal chaos, unexpected travel, death in the family, etc. But we're back and with a full agenda of true crime updates, cause a lot has happened in some very high-profile cases including Paul Flores' and Ruben Flores' trial finally taking shape, Gabby Petito's family taking Brian Laundrie's family to court in a civil suit, delays in the trial of the other two cops in the murder of George Floyd, and perhaps the OG of unsolved cases - Jon Benet Ramsey's brother is calling for a renewed testing of DNA.

  • It's the 10th episode, and we have major updates to catch up on in three high-profile cases. Ryan Duke for the murder of Tara Grinstead has reached a surprising (to some) verdict; Katherine Magbanua in the murder of FSU professor Dan Markel has reached a verdict (a little shocking but relieving!) and Amber Heard v. Johnny Depp's civil suit has concluded and we now await a verdict from the jury, likely sometime next week. Also a minor update in the pending trial date of Paul Flores for the murder of Kristen Smart. Big stuff all around! Come get caught up on everything that went down this past week.

We also discuss the horrific shooting in Uvalde, TX and go over some ways you can take action by calling your representatives, and exactly how to do so and what to say. Listen until the end for these important action steps.

  • The world's a heavy place - let's escape with some relaxing true crime! In all seriousness, it's another biggie, as this week has brought simultaneous high profile cases that are being live streamed; Ryan Duke is on trial for the alleged murder of Tara Grinstead of Up and Vanished Season 1 (is his confession real or fake? What about the ex bf who was a cop..!? UGH) plus Katherine Magbanua AKA the connective tissue (allegedly) in FSU professor Dan Markel's murder is back on trial this week after her 2019 one ended in mistrial. Lots to discuss! Not to mention the incredibly problematic ways the public opinion surrounding Amber Heard v. Johnny Depp is setting us all back in some really troubling ways. And media recs - including an Armie Hammer expose!? So much happening.

  • THIS IS BIG! Emmy was counting down the minutes until she could get to her mic and record this emergency update episode on two MASSIVE news updates in two nationally known cases: the murder of FSU law professor Dan Markel - which took place in Emmy's hometown, and the disappearance and suspected murder of Madeleine McCann. Admittedly she might have a hometown bias, but the murder case of Dan Markel is one Emmy's followed obsessively for the past 8 years, and the arrest of former brother in law of the slain professor was a moment many have been waiting for anxiously. Listen in for all you need to know to get caught up to speed on both of the developments of these major cases.

  • Emmy tries to not ramble but fails, mostly because she has a renewed and more passionate than ever obsession with the Adnan Syed case and for the first time has a STRONG opinion on whether he’s innocent or guilty – hear which and why, plus of course some updates on high profile cases such as Paul Flores/Kristen Smart and Gabby Petito. Then, hear a listener submission on a story tragically similar to Gabby’s, yet that's getting almost zero air time.
