This week features part two of my chat with Aaron Hammersly, filmmaker and production executive at Disney, board member on the LA Bi+ Task Force, and outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, working especially for more inclusive representation in front of and behind the camera. In this episode, we continued discussing “Bi+ Narratives: A Guide to Authentic Representation in Storytelling”, the first comprehensive guide to portraying bi+ characters in film and television, which Aaron co-authored, diving into dozens of case studies of bi+ representation in the current film & TV landscape (like Schitt’s Creek, Heartstopper, Game of Thrones, Call Me By Your Name, Baby Reindeer, and many more), what they’re doing well, what’s backwards or harmful, what’s missing, and what we’d ideally like to see in the future. We also discussed the “manic pixie bi boy” trend, and finally we went through the guide’s test for creatives to determine if what they’re producing is authentic Bi+ representation.
Thanks for listening to season 8 of Two Bi Guys (By One Bi Guy)! We’ll be back in 2025!

This week I sat down with my friend Aaron Hammersly, filmmaker and production executive at Disney, board member on the LA Bi+ Task Force, and outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, working especially for more inclusive representation in front of and behind the camera. Earlier this year, Aaron co-authored Re-Write the Bi-Line’s “Bi+ Narratives: A Guide to Authentic Representation in Storytelling”, the first comprehensive guide to portraying bi+ characters in film and television.
In this IN-PERSON (!!) interview, we talked about Aaron’s queer journey; “the social insidious nature of biphobia and bi erasure”; why it’s difficult to represent queerness within the major studio system and in our current climate; the costs and benefits of being out at work for writers, producers, and other creatives; why it’s unfair and unproductive when writers’ rooms fill a “diversity slot” instead of valuing diverse identities and experiences across the board; and how Aaron got involved with “Still Bisexual”, “Rewrite the Bi-Line”, and co-author Christina Fialho in order to write the Bi+ Narratives Guide.
We then dove into the recommendations in the guide (like “if the audience does not know if the character is bi+, we cannot change the narrative for bi+ people”, and “expand opportunities and empower new voices”), and we began to discuss case studies of bi+ representation in the current film & TV landscape. Stay tuned for more with Aaron in next week’s season finale when we continue going through the guide!

PLEASE VOTE for Kamala Harris! The stakes could not be higher. Once you've done that, then you can listen to this lovely episode, the second part of my chat with Dutch bicons Vera & Leroy Duivenvoorden-Westenberg. We talked a bit more about the queer scene in the Netherlands before moving on to a longer discussion about non-monogamy, polyamory, kink, play parties, and why their sexualities bring them joy. Enjoy!

This week I’m so excited to share part 1 of my interview with Vera & Leroy Duivenvoorden-Westenberg, my friends from the Netherlands! In addition to running a marketing company together called “Marketing Schmarketing” – which designed the “Studio 54” Bi+ boat in the 2022 Amsterdam Pride canal parade – Vera & Leroy are Bi+ activists and hosts of the podcast “One Thing Does Not Exclude the Other” (“Het een sluit het ander niet uit” in Dutch). We chatted about my trip to Amsterdam Pride when we all met, their journey as a married couple both navigating bisexuality, what’s great about the queer scene in the Netherlands (and also what’s missing), and much more. Stay tuned for part 2 next week – and don’t forget to VOTE in the Nov. 5 US election!

To get fired up and ready to go for the upcoming Nov. 5 election (and because I was behind on editing the next episode…), today I sat down again with our bi stepfather, RJ Aguiar, to talk politics! We discussed the importance of voting, especially for queer people, and what we’re doing in the final two weeks to support the causes we care about (mostly: democracy!). Please make a plan to vote, and make sure your friends and family have a plan to vote. We cannot afford to sit this one out – the stakes are too high.

This episode features the second half of my interview with Mark Cusack (he/they), founder of the support site "Not Defining" (a space for anyone struggling with their sexuality, gender, or identity), ICF Certified Integrative Coach, and LGBTQ+ mentor. In this section, we discussed asexuality and the ace spectrum, what’s so special about dating couples, how queerness intersects with neurodivergence, Mark's drag persona “Marco Fabulasio”, and we each said "bye bye" to something we'd like to do away with in queer culture. Thanks for listening!

This week I sat down with Mark Cusack (he/they), founder of the support site "Not Defining" (a space for anyone struggling with their sexuality, gender, or identity), and we discussed why even under the Bi+ umbrella, many queer people are moving away from fixed labels and definitions of their identities. Mark is also an ICF Certified Integrative Coach and LGBTQ+ mentor, and we chatted about how his journey with content creation led to his new coaching practice (similar to my own story!). We also discussed stand-up comedy, authenticity, dating... and more, coming in part 2 next week! Thanks for listening.

Happy end of Bi+ Visibility Month! This episode includes the second part of my chat with Lewis Oakley – a Bi+ Activist in the UK, co-host of the "Bisexual Brunch" podcast, and author of a new book, “Bisexuality: The Basics” from Jessica Kingsley Publishers – and spoiler alert, the title of this episode is ironic, as Lewis argues that you can't go into these things with a game plan, and we discussed how to get comfortable with that uncertainty. After that, enjoy the recording of an Instagram Live in which I was interviewed by Lucy LaForge, Bi+ artist, musician and creator of Lucy & La Mer. Enjoy!

Happy Bi+ Visibility Day / Week / Month! In this episode, I chatted with Lewis Oakley, a Bi+ Activist in the UK, co-host of the Bisexual Brunch podcast, and author of a new book, “Bisexuality: The Basics” from Jessica Kingsley Publishers. We chatted about his recent appearances on cable news (where he had to prove he was a “real” bisexual), and then we dove into his book and the complicated, nuanced questions he poses in it for people who are navigating sexual fluidity. Stay tuned at the end for one of my stand-up sets! More with Lewis next week.

We’re back with RJ Aguiar, part two! We chatted about queer stand-up comedy (and butthurt straight guys), we debuted a new segment called “Bye Bye!” where we rant about things that bother us, I asked RJ about his hottest sexual experiences both on and off camera, and then we have a difficult time saying goodbye…

Bi+ book season continues with Dr. Lisa Speidel and her upcoming book, Bisexuality Beyond Binaries: Celebrating Multiple Bisexual Identities in a World of Erasure. Dr. Speidel also published with Routledge and is a big part of the reason why I was able to publish Bisexual Married Men there -- she reviewed and recommended my proposal! We connected a year later when she interviewed me for her book, which includes writing and interviews from a diverse spectrum of Bi+ people. Please note: her book is not available yet but will be released in the fall of 2024. This conversation goes way beyond the binary... enjoy!

Welcome back to Bi+ book season! We're picking up right where we left off, interviewing 4 more Bi+ authors about their new bisexual-themed books, and this week I’m so excited to reunite with J.R. Yussuf to discuss his new book, Dear Bi Men: A Black Man’s Perspective on Power, Consent, Breaking Down Binaries, and Combating Erasure. J.R. was one of the first ever guests on this podcast, and it was amazing to hear how much has evolved – for both of us – since that first interview. We chatted about too many things to list, and you won’t want to miss it!

It's the final interview (for real!) in this series on Bi+ married men. But first -- I'm starting a coaching practice! I specialize in helping LGBT+, queer, questioning, and non-monogamous people navigate their identity and relationships, but I can coach you in any area of your life in which you feel stuck. For the first 20 minutes of this episode, I give an overview of my new practice, what coaching is and isn't, how I can help you create awareness and meaningful change, and how to sign up for a free intro call if you're interested. (TLDR: visit my website)
After that, enjoy an interview with Rene (aka Nelson), another subject in my book, Bisexual Married Men: Stories of Relationships, Acceptance, and Authenticity (out now), back on Two Bi Guys for the second time. Rene's story is unique and layered, but it also features common threads that many Bi+ men have experienced – though we often feel like we’re alone.
There are 20 minutes of bonus content with Rene, plus full video of this interview and entire series, on Patreon.
Thanks for listening to this series on Bi+ married men and for the lovely feedback on my book. (If you're enjoying it, please leave a review on Amazon or wherever you bought it!) Stay tuned for the continuation of book season with a few more Bi+ authors. Thanks for listening and supporting my work!

Here's the last interview in my series on Bi+ married men. (Or maybe the penultimate! I'm still waiting to hear back from someone. I'll do a wrap-up episode either way.) This week I interviewed Austin, aka "Quentin" in my book, Bisexual Married Men: Stories of Relationships, Acceptance, and Authenticity (out now) -- back on Two Bi Guys for the second time (first time was season 2!) with lots of updates and new insights. Austin's story is unique and layered, perhaps even more layered than any other (and I've learned so much from peeling back those layers), but it also features common threads that many Bi+ men have experienced – though we often feel like we’re alone.
There are 18 minutes of bonus content with Austin, plus full video of the entire interview, on my Patreon!
Thanks for listening! I'll be wrapping up this Bi+ married men series next episode and then finishing up Book Season with a few more Bi+ authors (and then taking a break...). But more bonus content will continue to be featured on Patreon, especially on hiatus.

Happy new year! Here's another interview from this special series on bisexual men who are married to women. This week I interviewed Nana, another subject in my book, Bisexual Married Men: Stories of Relationships, Acceptance, and Authenticity (out now). Nana's story is unique and layered, especially because he was the only interviewee with a military background (which intersected heavily with his Bi+ identity...), but it also features common threads that many Bi+ men have experienced – though we often feel like we’re alone.
There are 20 minutes of bonus content with Nana, plus FULL LENGTH VIDEO of the interview, only on my Patreon -- enjoy!

We're back with more in this special series on bisexual men who are married to women! This week I interviewed Cassidy, another subject in my new oral history book, Bisexual Married Men: Stories of Relationships, Acceptance, and Authenticity – out now! Cassidy's story is unique and layered, especially because he abandoned his "straight" label early on as a teenager, but it also features common threads that many Bi+ men have experienced – though we often feel like we’re alone.
There are 11 minutes of bonus content with Cassidy, plus FULL LENGTH VIDEO of the interview, only on my Patreon -- enjoy!
