  • This week on the show I'm joined by former professional basketball player, Podcast And TV Show host, and entrepreneur Travis Reed. Travis played professionally overseas in the Netherlands and Estonia. romania, Australia and Germany. In 2004 he was league MVP in the Dutch league. He was a part of one of the best UCLA recruiting classes in 1997 which included Earl Watson, Rico Hines, Billy Knight and Baron Davis.

    In this episode, Travis takes us through the journey of his basketball career from the high school level to the last year of his professional career. He takes us through the next chapter of his life which included the challenging transition out of the sport, fatherhood and dealing with mental battles that almost broke him.

    Travi's story is an inspiring one and one that I believe many people need to hear. it's raw, it's honest and it's his truth. Not to mention some of the hilarious stories he shares throughout our conversation.

    This is one of those episodes where you grab your training shoes, get your headphones and go for a nice long walk because Travis unpacks a lot in his episode but I think it's going to be on you enjoy.

  • This week on the show, my guest is Tatiana Straathof. She's a former professional circus artist, a graduate of the world-renowned, Ecole Nationale de Cirque, and founder of Creating your Sun shinene" which helps seniors improve their balance maintain their independence and live each day with better health and greater joy. She also goes to schools, organizations, sports teams and corporate settings to share her story with an added twist in how she engages with her audience.

    I met Tatiana a few years ago before the pandemic and when we met and she told me her story and some of the things that she's been through it wasn't just inspiring to hear but I had a lot of questions because I was trying to understand where she was getting this mental strength and internal joy from.

    One moment she was about to finally accomplish a dream of her's that she's had since a young girl and the next she was in the hospital and diagnosed with a rare bone disease mixed with another illness that left her bedridden for the next 6 years trying to figure out what was going on inside, and how do we get better from it.

    This week on the show, my guest played 11 years in the NFL as a defensive end. He played for the buffalo bills, the san diego chargers, the dallas cowboys and the Jacksonville Jaguars. During his time playing, he made the 2001 AFC pro bowl team, He was also nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year three times for his volunteer and charity work and his foundation project transition.

    After football, he stepped into the sports media space and excelled every step of the way.     This week on the show, 2022 Grey Cup Champion, Offensive Lineman Shane Richards joins me. I've been watching and knowing Shane since he stepped into the building of my old high school in Calgary, Crescent Heights High School. If you are a quarterback or running back you want him in front of you. Shane is 6 ft 8, 300+ pounds and he's solid. He's a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he played 2 years, and received all-American honors on the field and academically. He was the #1 overall pick in the 2019 draft to the Toronto Argonauts. He's also the owner of 4 Corners Wing Stop based in Calgary.

    I had a great conversation with Shane, and we got into a whole lot. we have similar views on a lot of things and share similar experiences with the transition from Jamaica to Canada.

    This week on the show Georgia Ellenwood stops by. Georgia probably does the most tiering discipline in track and field. She's a Heptathlete. 7 events in 2 days. She represented Canada in the 2016 world indoor championships, 2018 won NCAA while at the University of Wisconsin, broke all their records, was Big 10 conference athlete of the year and later that year won her first national title at the Canadian championships. She became an olympian in 2020/2021 where she finished 20th.

    I had a great conversation with Georgia and we touched on a lot. if you've been keeping up with Georgia's career to date, then you know she tore and ruptured her Achilles last year the good news is that she's back on her feet.

  • This Week I'm joined by a retired US Army veteran, motivational speakers and the Co-founder of Sweethearts and Heroes which is a game-changing organization helping to stamp out bullying and promote a positive culture in schools and communities across the US and Canada. Rick Yarosh joins me on the show.

    On September 1, 2006, Ricks's life would be changed and impacted for the rest of his life. Rick was part of a routine military mission in the Abu Ghraib region of Iraq. While on the mission, the Bradley was hit with an IED and the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Within 40 hours after the explosion, Rick and his two comrades arrived at the military burn unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

    Now retired from the Army, Rick gives inspirational talks to anyone who would like to hear his story. His story, although tragic in parts, is not a story of tragedy. It is one of being able to get through anything with a positive attitude. Most importantly, Rick can honestly say he is happier than he has ever been in his entire life.
