Episode 8 is with Alexandra Andersson, who you might have come across on Instagram at @fivesechealth. She's a recipe creator, YouTuber and has released her own recipe app. She shares her story of changing from one of the probably unhealthiest ways of eating to a whole foods plant-based vegan diet. She tells us what she eats in a day and how she ensures she’s getting all the right nutrients, what inspired her move to Bali and talks us through the life she has now created.
On social media, we see these perfect images; little snippets of people’s lives. It can be easy to assume that someone has it all figured out or that they’ve obviously always been this way. Alexandras very host and open about her journey. it took her years to get to this healthy and beautiful place in her life. She took little steps in the right direction, which we can all do.

Our guest today is Clint Paddison, founder of the Paddison Program. Clint was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and within two years, he could barely walk and experienced severe pain in most of his body. He tried surgery and medications without success.So he went back to his science roots and with determination, persistence and scientific experimentation Clint turned his health around and now leads a drug free and pain free life. After reversing his rheumatoid arthritis, Clint has appeared on television, given TEDx talks, written for magazines, he speaks at most of the biggest natural heath conferences in Australia and has founded The Paddison Program. His step by step program has dramatically improved the lives of thousands of people with arthritis and inflammatory conditions.Arthritis affects over 10% of the population and is more common in western society. Women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with arthritis! Inflammation is the cause of many diseases and recent research has shown that mental illnesses including depression and anxiety are linked with inflammation too.The main component of The Paddison program is a plant based vegan diet. Today guest is Dr Gemma Newman. She has worked in medicine for 15 years and is the Senior Partner at a family medical practice. Dr Newman has worked in many specialities including elderly care, endocrinology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, general surgery, urology, vascular surgery, rehabilitation medicine and General Practice. She has a specialist interest in plant based nutrition and lifestyle medicine, is an advisory board member of Plant Based Health Professionals UK and part of the Doctors for Nutrition Team.
She gives nutrition and lifestyle advice to her patients, who have gained tremendous results using the power of their plate. Her family lead a fully plant based lifestyle, following the extensive research she had done of the scientific literature on the health benefits associated with whole-food plant based nutrition.
In this episode, Gemma shares her journey to veganism, what inspired her to make the change and what her and her family eat. She talks about climate change and the urgency of planetary health. We go into the main vitamins and minerals that we need to focus on incorporating into our diet, how to have a healthy pregnancy, and how to raise healthy plantbased children. We also go into breastfeeding.

Her video ‘Dairy is Scary’ has been seen by over 5 million people on YouTube and is now on billboards across Canada and the US.
She shares her journey to veganism and what inspired her to create content, the realities of the dairy and egg industry, including why ‘small’, ‘organic’, ‘ethical’ and ‘family owned’ farms are not what they seem, and how we can shift towards a better future.

Josh Reed is a dietician and personal trainer, specialising in gut health, IBS, FODMAPs, plant based eating, sports nutrition and wellbeing. He has been working in the health industry for over 10 years and has been practicing as a dietician for the past 5 years. Heath is the co-owner of The Raw Kitchen in Fremantle and a Naturopath with over 20 years experience in holistic medicine. He was a senior lecturer at The Australian College of Natural Medicine and has been public lecturing on health and wellness for the last 12 years.
