Welcome back to Welcome to Leadership! Today, we're gonna talk about something that I don't think is talked about enough in our leadership circles. How do we earn, I mean, authentically earn more respect in our circle of influence?
It is important. It's not just an ego metric.
Because if the people in your circle of influence both at home, at work or socially -- if they don't respect you, it's going to be very difficult to influence and have the impact that you want to have.
So how do we make sure we're earning respect consciously, effectively and ethically?
Well, you're going to get four tips today. They're each going be very simple, very actionable, but they're very relevant and powerful actions to take. So let's jump right in.

Leaders - before you judge someone, remember this -- When we build a culture where we're providing support, as opposed to passing judgment, that's when our organizations change.
That's how we get better performance, that's when we get better connection and cohesion within our organizations, and that's when we feel better about ourselves.
I'm also going to admit something. Sometimes the things that I see or hear people do can be frustrating. I'm sure you've been there right?
Whether you're a leader, manager, or supervisor in an organization, or you're just living your life, I'm sure there are times when you get irritated by things that people do around you and begin passing judgement.
How do you stop doing that, and learn to think before you judge someone? Because we DO need to stop judging people. Well, that's what I'm going to cover and try to explain today to help you reduce your tendency to judge others, have more empathy, improve your leadership, and be able to support people who need it.

Motivation Manifesto, The Leader Who Had No Title, True Grit and Grace by Amberly Lago. My personal favorite Million Dollar Influence by yours truly. Lewis Howes, The School of Greatness. Don't get me started on the motivational speakers: Eric Thomas, Cassandra Worthy, David Goggins, Lisa Nichols, Michael Beckwith, Les Brown.
Okay. So here's the question. With all these motivational books, videos, and quotes. With all these sources of potential inspiration and content that can actually change your life, why doesn't it?
Why don't these things change your life? Why can you read and watch and listen to so many brilliant minds and still find yourself stuck in the same place and in what seems to be repeating patterns of the same old lifestyle. Today, we're gonna dive in.
I'm gonna do two things for you in this episode. First, I'm going to explain why that happens, and Second, I'll explain how to fix it once and for all. Let's get started.

If you want More Confidence–Here's 2 Unexpected Secrets I share in this episode with two real life examples from personal experience.
As leaders, one of the simplest (but not easiest) methods to become more confident is to adopt the mindset of absolute accountability and responsibility.
Responsibility refers to the obligation to perform the task or comply with a rule; accountability implies answerability for the outcome of the task or process.
When you decide that phrases like "it's not fair", "it's not my fault", "I wasn't there", or "it wasn't my intent"are no longer a part of your vocabulary, I can promise you that your confidence will increase, and others will follow your example.

Great leaders know that if everyone is consistently agreeing with you, there's a problem. This episode shares a quick story from my days as a SWAT team member that taught me one of the most valuable leadership and success lessons of my life. It's one lesson that I continue practice, and it has allowed me to experience the success I've enjoyed so far.
Here's 5 quick takeaways for you:
Just because someone sees something differently than you, doesn't mean one of you is wrong. Even when you think everything is going just fine, someone close to you can be having a terrible experience. Leveraging the perspective of those around you who are committed to the same goal is a powerful recipe for improvement. Micro-adjustments can be more valuable than big changes. Being an outstanding leader isn't about telling people what happened or what's going to happen, it's about creating an environment where they can discover those answers without you saying a word. The greatest leaders encourage diversity of thought, not unwavering compliance.
